guitarmy
It's all in the title: Have any bands Led Zeppelin'd Led Zeppelin? What I mean to say is: Have any bands taken Led Zeppelin material and transformed it as much as Led Zeppelin did with some of their borrowed material? I realize a ton of musical acts have covered the band, but I'm interested in departures from the original Zeppelin material, and creating something new. I'm interested in hearing some of it. Just putting the feelers out there. And who gets the credit if a band covers/modifies the Led Zeppelin version of let's say, "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You"? Dzldoc
You may or may not have heard of New Orleans own "Zebra" a Zep inspired band. Great drum solo on this one. http://youtube.com/watch?v=8wc67ANJAeM
Xtazy
And who gets the credit if a band covers/modifies the Led Zeppelin version of let's say, "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You"? Probably Anne Bredon. As long as any band uses the original lyrics, they should credit Bredon. The same thing happened with Whole Lotta Love (originally by Willie Dixon). The instrumental part from Zep's version was all did by the band, but they used the words from the original song. They didn't credit Dixon, and they got sued. BIGLY was originally written by Anne Bredon. Joan Baez (who covered the song) credited her, and so did Zepp. So anyone who covers or even modifies the instrumental part, but uses the original lyrics should credit her. But also, there's a possibility that someone completely modifies the lyrics, but keeps the instrumental from Zepp's BIGLY version. Then I think LZ should get the credit.
