  1. Wow. That’s interesting! It would be very interesting to contrast the yardbirds 68 with zeppelin 68 , that’s quite a story . How about some studio sketches or unreleased, assuming there are any, zeppelin doing “for your love” for example,as the companion disc.
  2. Looks like we are expecting some live zeppelin recordings as releases for the 50th and not expecting any further live performances by the band. 2007 seemed more like a return than a fair well and with the remasters building on the tension The question of “what next” seems likely to continue to be asked. But where is the bookend? What would be the right way to draw it to a close? Not that I want it to ever end but you know... I allways liked what Jeff Lynn did with the remaining Beatles on “free as a bird” and “real love” . Maybe some drums tracks remain . Perhaps somethings could be finished off. Maybe something new, an EP of sorts.
  3. What next? AGAIN

I’m hoping it’s not just HTWWW that’s now different because it on vinyl. I mean I like HTWWW but it’s not fresh enough
  4. ITTOD

I notice how during the page and plant project they would use parts of the latter half of carolselambra as the middle section of ITE. Pure genius . Had things been different I suspect this idea might have become a standard live set piece.
  5. What next? AGAIN

Yes, I quite like the vocal too, so for me it was totally worth adding it in. It’s another zeppelin track to enjoy that otherwise wouldn’t have been and this before “free as bird” . Also really enjoy this as an instrumental, its a complete powerhouse. Still think it’s highly unlikely that other stuff would be revisited.
  6. What next? AGAIN

Yeah. Im just wondering if putting three or so live albums out in a year, together with full concert video might be too much ! ....then again...no. Can’t possibly have too much zeppelin!
  7. What next? AGAIN

Other possibility is an expanded “DVD” with extra footage, snippets say from bath, EC and others? To compliment any audio live releases. Put any remaining bits of video together where there might not be enough for a stand alone release Plus would love to see DVD available via iTunes or similar
  8. Never seen zeppelin, would I rather have the memories or the recordings? As far as I’m concerned having either is really cool , boths a dream
  9. LED ZEPPELIN OFFICIAL ILLUSTRATED BOOK - COMING 2018

It might be my limited imagination but...Well I’m guessing a condensed compilation of the photos and sequencing of, from the super deluxe books plus some more, slightly differing presentation of em. Question for me is what further information would another photo book Provide? Why do it? I notice that in the announcement a point is made that they are all collaborating on it..
  10. What next? AGAIN

I remember a comment by page in one of the interviews where he mentioned not releasing what had already been bootlegged. Didn’t he go ahead and release some bootlegged stuff anyway, such as “Jennings farm”? Or was the companion audio version recording of it not bootlegged? I think he was also asked if any tinkering had gone on with the companion stuff, such as remixing, over Dubs, processing or effects etc and he replied that he wasn’t into “rewriting history”, or words to that effect. IMHO this was exactly the the right approach for a project like the companion audio one. But would not necessarily be appropriate to have as a rule that would apply to anything else. I think there’s a couple of unknown instrumentals or that brutal artistry boot, which are great, would these have gone on the PG companion audio together with swan song, take me home ? IMHO PG would then have been in danger of becoming a triple and diluted from its original. Maybe it was better to stick to the companion audio concept and bank these tracks for later. If indeed they are bankable at all.
  11. What next? AGAIN

IMHO using something from back in the day, from their former selves and building it up via their current selves is really interesting. To me it was part of the attraction of the o2 gig seeing how they tackled it, how the strength of the material stacked up against everything that had come after it was written and then before it was now being performed. I think led zeppelin is not just an era, collections of tracks, four specific blokes etc IMHO it’s like a way of approaching music that’s stood the test of time. o2 proved it to me and I reckon plant uses the same approach in his solo work. So I see no reason why Swan Song
  12. What next? AGAIN

When RP stops performing the songs albeit in interesting ways, then that’s when it really has come to an end, for me any way. I’m guessing he won’t stop doing that until he actually stops performing altogether
  13. What next? AGAIN

Some might say the free as bird thing was hokey. Which it probably was! I guess it depends how it could be framed. Something new or half new would be the only thing not done but it’s probably the least likely so... I think you’re right. The next release could very well be the last activity we see we've had the concert! the studio vaults are clear? Last few live tapes are next? and that’s it.......50 years is quite a nice note to end on. I’m sure the led Zeppelin forum will rumble on for a very long time beyond though!
  14. What next? AGAIN

Yes I know but what I’m trying to say and not very well is that despite 2007 obviously being the last show it did start a whole load of people asking for more and lots still are even a decade later. Then came the studio stuff and now what looks like more live stuff. So rather than finishing it off it seems to me 2007 unleashed it again given all the constant speculation. i think boleskinner Sums it up well. Sad event or slow tail off. I suggested a “free as bird” type effort like the Beatles in the hope of getting totally trolled to death on this forum.
  15. Companion discs are rubbish

I seem to be missing the graphs and pie charts?
  16. Well put, I can't fault any on that. Hendrix is allways the one topic that I find most interesting in these kind of debates. With Page I almost find I'm willing him on during his playing like a high wire act. It adds to the tension. with the vaitranis I'm sort of listening to how easy they make it sound . Compare EVH and the kinks version of you really got me cos that just about sums it up for me
  17. Companion discs are rubbish

if every track on each companion audio disk was a new "previously unreleased" song, then would it be companion audio to the original, or would it be a bonus disk or separate album ?
  18. Ahmet's wife, if your reading this, ask him again would you.
  19. This certainly would be the event that most would dream of happening. even if it was total crap I'd still be happy that we would finally have the answer and the actual full stop to all this and we could all move on band members included.
  20. Sadly there will be a time where in the absence of anything new it will be 100% speculation.
  21. In Through the Out Door reissue: WOW!

ITTOD is the only super deluxe I ain't got (yet) I've got the BBC one but not unwrapped it yet (Christmas) . I suppose I should complete the set but I'm struggling with this album at the moment. I saw a clip of page and plant doing "in the evening" with part of carouselambra in the middle it was bloody awesome. Would have loved this at the o2 instead of the "rock and roll"
  22. Yeah I'm hoping. I'd like some of the later songs live on official release.
  23. I suspect there might be a tiny amount of speculation mixed in too.
  24. Imho I reckon Bob would have been up for it if page had provided him with some genuinely original material, something new. Something worthy. We know plant doesn't mind singing the zeppelin songs most of his act is doing just that. I think the ball has been in pages court to produce the goods . It's clear A never ending tour repeating the classics is out of the question. Plant has said that it has to be fresh a new for him to engage. In some ways I think it's pages only chance to get back out there and do it justice. But the bar is incredibly high now. Having said that I though embryo 1 and 2 had some bloody potential.
  25. Companion discs are rubbish

I think the concept is quite simple. remastered Album plus the same album but viewed from a different perspective. the artwork says it all. Original album cover and then a sort of inversion of the colours for the second disc but in effect both discs share the same concept at their core. You couldn't have one without the other. Perhaps we shouldn't consider the tracks individually so much as being a complete album. imho I think what page has done here has added to and given further colour and illustration to the core of each of these albums in a very considered and artistic way. I think what's been done is completely unique . It also shows that he still has the eye and ear for it. Who knows he may have even made something this clever out of the very little remaining. Or there may be more concepts to come....
