  1. I saw DP in the 80's, and they were LOUD as HELL, esp. the keyboards! My head was hurting for days, but it was worth it. I remember that organ rocking back and forth and hoping it didn't fall over and crush him. I remember Blackmore being so aggressive on the guitar and jumping around like a madman.

I was about 14, and was there with my friend. The guy in front of us had really long hair, and was spinning it around as he banged his head for almost the whole concert until he got up and puked right next to us. My mom couldn't find us after the concert when she came to pick us up. It was well below zero (fahrenhiet) that night, and we were running around outisde in jean jackets. By the time my mom found us she was livid, but when she calmed down she told us that she was looking all over outside the stadium and saw the DP guys getting into a limo. We were SO bummed and were shouting jealous profanities at my mom. She just sat there and smiled.

There's my memory. And oh yeah- fuckin' GREAT concert. Unbelievable.

Cool, where was the gig ??

  2. Hi everybody.

Does anybody know why stormbringer is taking so long to be released? What about the setlist from teh remastered edition?

I also read that come taste the band will have a reissue, but I´m not sure if they finally found the multi tracks or not. can anyone help?

Yes Stormbringer is due out in April/May time and the Start of remastering Come taste starts this year although unlikely release this year !!!

  3. Big YAY for you! Keept it up! Stay strong! You can make it!!!

    :)

    Thanks :)

:cheer::thumbsup: Congratulations! That's awesome news. It will get easier the longer you are away from it and you will feel sooooo much better.

Yes I am already and my bank balance lol....cheers !!! :)

  4. I like alot of his stuff, thought they were great on the Woodstock DVD, but on the other hand i find alot of his stuff almost cheesy and nauseating, but I did go and see him in concert (Santana-B.I.C/Bournemouth/Dorset/29.5.89 and enjoyed it :)

  5. Spectrum was one bad ass fusion album.Bolins work on that was mind blowing.

    Too right !!

I was just listening to Fireball today, pretty damn good album, not that well known outside of DP fans.

Fireball was my fave album for a long time, Things like Fireball, Demons E, Fools and No one Came are really great tracks !! The bowing type sound in the middle of fools was Blackmore using the volume pot on his Strat and not a bow (just for interest  ) :)

  6. Manders I see your born in 1981, the year I got into Zep and I was 15 :) . Also its the year that Ashes to Ashes the BBC series is to be set in, which starts on Feb 7th although I guess America will not get it for a while !!

  7. Glenn Hughes & Friends, Blackfoot, Magnum, Hanoi Rocks, Molly Hatchet, Budgie, Fastway and GMT have been confirmed to appear at this year’s Rock & Blues Custom Show, which to celebrate its 25 anniversary takes place at a new location - Catton Hall in Derbyshire, from July 24th-2th.

  8. I like this band, but unfortunately I don't listen it a lot anymore..

But some of their songs are just so out of this world.. So different and freshing...

some of the stuff is out of this world, but how come you don't listen anymore when it sounds as though you would like too ??

  9. You missed out the punchline! I'll let the man himself explain, he tells the story brilliantly:

I like the "Born Again" album, but what is even better is the bootleg of the demos + an unreleased track called "The Fallen". The sound quality is much better than on the official release.

I've also got a boot of a gig from the tour they did and it sounds great. Gillan gave everything and sang the Ozzy era material very well.

He He thanks for that !! The cover was God awfull lol !!

  10. Ahh yes i prefer the ozzy years paranoid, iron man, war pigs, all just classic. I really liked children of the grave the original version i some how dont recall ever hearinf it just the live version off tribute.

I have an old black sabbath casette called the eternal idol its actually pretty descent. tony martin is the singer does anybody have this or remember this!

Also not a big fan of the dio years, i loved the lord of the rings, but i'm not into a hobbit fronting a metal band!!! B)

I remember Eternal Idol, its ok and strange you don't like Dio Sabs as Tony martin sounds like a Dio clone !!

Love the Dio Lord of the rings bit :) maybe you should stick that in Bilbo's Hobbit thread !!

  11. A very underrated Sabbath CD is Born Again. This CD was kind of overlooked. I think it's a real good album. Ian Gillian really does a good job on vocals. And is the only other CD other than Heaven & Hell that has all three original musicians on it. A real scary-heavy album.......: )

I remember Gillan saying he use to be mates with Sabbath and was out on the piss with them, by the morning he was in the band !! He also said he could never remember the lyrics and on tour he would have the lyrics written down on the floor next to the monitors, but it was either Reading or some festival that with all the dry ice coming up off the stage he was scrambling on his knees trying to sing paranoid or something, but couldn't see the lyrics due to dry ice and the fans couldn't see Gillan, he said it was nightmare !! Thank god he re joined Purple a few years later and was in a band he was meant to be in !!

Long Live the Dio years in Sabbath, they were a good band then !! Soz I just find The ozzy stuff to dense although I did go and see them and enjoyed it, I just prefer Dio !!

  12. GO LEDDY!

Smoking is such a disgusting habit. Good on you for giving it up. You can do it, we all have a ton of confidence in you. :D

Yeh I will do it !! I can be a stubborn bugger so that should be enough :)

  13. Well done mate, packing in the nicotine is sooo hard. Save your money in a jar. We did it and went to New York a year later with the profits. Stayed at the Waldorf.

    smokin' now though! :whistling:

IU know you are lol, We did that a few years back gave up for 3 months and went to North Africa withthe proceeds :) But this time i am doing it for good !! I just feel so low when I smoke that I just had to stop !! :)

  14. I am afraid mine doesn't have interesting origins really, Just i use to be Ledzeppeliner years ago , then it got shrtened to Leddy, thats it really..It does make me laugh when people not of this forum see my handle on other sites go why are you leddy? when I tell them they go ...Doh of course :)

  15. To me Yes is the definition of progressive rock.that style went out of popularity, but you cant argue the combo of musicianship and songwriting these guys put out. Some claimed that their type of music is overindulgent.I say its damn good.I like The Yes album Close To The Edge,Fragile best

Close to the edge is an epic !! :)
