  1. Its been a long time, can't wait for the shows, The Wall was an important album back in my youth so to see it live will be cool. I have a friend who was just old enough and saw the original Earls Court gig in 1980.

  2. Another poster is living in Poole (South of England).

By the way, I've heard that although this is a numbered print run of 1200, only 1000 of them were sold to the public. If I remember correctly they all sold out on the day before the show.

    So, the big question is:

WHO HAS THE OTHER 200 POSTERS???????????????

I got mine on the Monday so they still had some on the day of the gig.

Mine is here in Virginia. It is #614 When I was standing in the queue to buy the merchandise I was going back and forth whether I should buy one. I had to buy 16 shirts for family and friends. I was afraid my card would explode! I did come to my senses but my friend who got the tickets didn't buy one. He regrets it every time he visits me. But because he was so nice to sell me his other ticket I have willed the poster to him upon my demise!

Love how you have framed it with everything else, really cool...Will upload mine sometime but my ticket and bits are in another frame with a load of other tickets I have framed.

  3. The problem / criticism around the album was never around Jimmy Page - it was directed at David Coverdale. At his peak, Coverdale garnered ridicule for pouting in Whitesnake's videos as we all know - even as Robert Plant was reviving his own solo career ( and taking pot shots at Coverdale. )

To be honest and fair to Coverdale, I've never compared him to Plant. They are so different vocally - in terms of range and tone, that only idiots would compare them. With the perspective of time, many of us know where Zep's influences came from and no-one accuses them of being soundalikes.

Coverdale's great failing - and why he falls short of the greats - is his superficial lyric writing. The downfall of Coverdale-Page is that the lyrics lack the depth and ingenuity (and perhaps honesty) of what Robert Plant would have done. At worse, they're banal. But getting Jimmy off his butt to record something made the whole effort worthwhile. It's not going to go down in history...but so what.

Loved the album, loved both Coverdales and Pages input, to this day I still see nothing wrong with it. As much as I love Robert his lyrics were hardly the best either. I think DC's lyrics ok actually far better than his Whitesnake ones, although again his lyrics in Purple were pretty good.

  4. Cool! I started this thread when I used to visit this place a bit more frequently. Glad to see it is still alive!! Looking forward to new Rush in 2010.

Yep, looking forward to them getting out and playing live again too.

  5. I heard radioactive on the radio today, it must be a good few years since I heard that as my Firm albums are on vinyl and no record player. have to say it sounded even better than I remember, love Jimmy's off the wall solo..typical Page..Am thinking of getting a record player and getting some new vinyl as lots seem to be released on the old format still. It had a warm sound which I miss .

Saw The Firm In 85 at Wembley.

  6. Depeche Mode!!!! you should be ashanmed of yourself leddy :o;)

I have had a busy couple of weeks gig wise so its a break until 14th Dec when its Them Crooked Vultures in Birmingham. B)

My mate knows a P.A who tours with lots of bands and whatever tour she is on we get passes to the shows etc, so although I wouldn't actually buy tickets for them I am opened minded enough to go and listen. Last year we got to see Slipknot and Slayer too, its the luck of the draw who she is on tour with at the time. Again I wouldn't part cash to see Slipknot but they did put on a really good show and you just never know untill you see someone, although if they could of got rid of the kids that were there, pushing and shoving, drunk on half a shandy etc it was actually good, but I am sounding like the old fart I am becoming :)

  7. THUNDER ! " 20 years and out " tour.

a packed out Wolverhampton Civic last night bad a fond farewell to this vastly under-rated band, who finish today.

They came out to the rousing chorus of AC//DCs 'Thunderstruck' - had the house rocking from that moment on. Then, straight into 'Backstreet Symphony', and just kept it going.

A truly great gig which will live in the memory, and climaxed with 'Dirty Love' - everybody on the balcony out of their seats at that point in a huge tidal wave of emotion.

Thanks for the memories guys - and the very best of luck in all of your future plans

I saw Thunder 3 times in the 90's and have to say they were some of the best gigs I have been to, really realy great band !! They are doing one last show at this years Knebworth Festival aka Sonispheare headlining the the third stage.
