Interesting, didn't know he's been around for so long. In the late 1980s through the early 1990s--(year I graduated HS) I used to have to go to many record shops in and around Minneapolis asking and begging for them to acquire these shows after accidently coming across the Smoking Pig label (2 sets of '69 shows in soundboard quality), after that I was hooked. Now a days I bounce back and forth from airraid, eric, and ebay. But never did those Tarantura shows ever turn up in those smoky record shops around 1990. Eric has received a bad rap sometimes Ive noticed on this site, but he's always been fair and friendly with me, do you know why? Thanks, just curious . . .

Jealousy.   He’s put out more then every collector combined.

It's definitely shipped and being delivered, I know of a couple people who got their sets yesterday. Can confirm from one of these people that "Twist & Shout" is indeed from the new soundboard tape!

Great to know what we all suspected.  The entire show must exist.  Hopefully the final reel of 928 will surface one day as well

Good point, but that's not what I'm saying. We've waited a few months and a bit more won't kill.

What's frustrating is the label's tactics and marketing strategies... I mean, for a bootleg company, I don't understand why they try to prevent people from bootlegging their products. It's just hypocritical.

You are correct sir.   Once you sell it and release it, you can’t whine about it getting spread around. I’m happy EVSD does release things no American collectors have ever done.  But the reality is you can’t  cry after you made a like of money and released it.

That’s why those smart collectors like Shinedaddy don’t even show images of their rare paper items like posters because once it’s out there anyone can copy it and it hurts the value of the originals.

  4. I’m super excited to see the set list on the 2 disc set.  Hopefully what is there is mostly complete.   Then we simply have to just wait and hope the final reel surfaces and well have basically the entire show!!

Cant wait to play Celebration Day at 11!

    😂🤣😆😜

  5. Image it was 20 year ago and someone said in 20 years you’ll get some really sweet soundboards of both nights of Osaka 1971 and some snippets of cool footage of the first night in Tokyo, it would be a hard thing to believe and or wait for...well here we go!

I just sent a message to the uploader asking if he would be at all interested in sharing/transferring the films and/or the recording. I gave him my email address in case he wants to talk in private. If he's interested, I'm wondering if I can get him in touch with someone who can help with the transfer of the tapes. Has anyone been able to determine if this is one of the old audio sources or something brand new? I just listened to the "First Attack of the Rising of the Sun" and "Flying Rock Carnival" and it doesn't sound like either one. Regardless, I'm so happy the uploader shared the link to this. Amazing how stuff like this can just surface after all these years.

Since he has already started communicating with you I think you have the best shot at getting the audio and 8mm films.   The ‘72 tape would nice nice but can wait for another day.

Try for the 1971 films first, then the 1971 audio next.    Or in a perfect world, get them all!!  😜👍😊

and in HD this would be incredible!

IKR!   Tobacco Road and Good Times Bad Times whoo-wee!!

The clips are long too not like a machine gun with 2 seconds and 1 second and 3 seconds etc. The guy just let the camera roll!!

Back when Jimmy was remastering the movie and soundtrack in 2006 (I think), he mentioned in an interview that he couldn't make any changes to the visuals because of some copyright laws or something, I believe. If it were true that he would even consider doing that, that would lead me to believe he still has the original film. Someone like Sam or Steve A Jones may be able to shed more light on this.

He does.  He added the extras to the original like MMH, and The Ocean.

The Zeppelin archive needs to handed over to an Uber fan and redone completely.  These Frankenstein productions are a complete joke

So when this tape was lifted from Jimmy's home, was it already mixed down or did the bootleggers mix and master the tapes on their own? Considering it's a bootlegged multitracked, shouldn't there be isolated instrument tracks floating around?

This was stolen at the time if the DVD & HTWWW. So it was already mixed down.  The 8mm home movies of Headley Grange and Sydney and one of the isolated cameras from RAH were stolen too at the same time.

Well Peter Whitehead owns the footage, it was believed unusable due to the fact that the lighting wasn't good with Zep playing at dusk. However: "Professor Chibnall said that Whitehead thought the footage was unusable due to insufficient lighting, but “it is usable because, I mean, it can be, it can be restored now. So you can raise those lighting levels, you can see more digitally,” the professor said. "

It’s only 30 mins from one camera and most of it is backstsge.  So basically not much usable except for a few minutes of one camera with poor exposure

Doubt away my friend but it was a full film crew as far as I know. The film company held the visual rights and Zep the audio rights and there's been several fallings out over the years while trying to come to a deal.

Zero evidence for a full film crew.   This subject has been discussed heavily and none of the pictures show an active film crew shooting the entire night with multiple cameras.

Page revealed in a 1978 interview that it was indeed multi tracked while discussing a potential through the years live album. He referenced tapes going back to "Bath and beyond" right up to the '77 US tour. It's also well known that the Bath festival was their second attempt at a film and that the film maker still has physical and legal possession of the celluloid. In an interview around the time of "DVD" Page stated that the Albert Hall gig was plan B as he wasn't prepared to pay the asking price for the Bath footage.

The potential 1978 triple live retrospective was itself a plan B to keep things rolling until Plant's return to the band. This of course happened resulting in In Through The Out Door so the live album never occurred.

References and direct quotes specifically about Bath multitracks?

The Albert Hall show was not the first choice for “DVD”, Page’s preference was the Shepton Mallet show but he couldn’t acquire the footage at an acceptable price so went for RAH as they already owned the celluloid and multi tracks. Fingers crossed this legendary show will surface this year for its 50th anniversary or at least an audio release.

Hmm.  Not sure about that.   Seems like a stretch of the facts.   I highly doubt much of Bath (especially in usable and complete type footage) exists.  And quite possibly it was never multitracked.

Did he say that? Can he prove it? I don't show it. I'm skeptical. They were flying back and forth from New Orleans daily. Factor in the travel time plus the doors having to open at a certain time for a three hour CONCERT THAT NIGHT -- that's a hell of a long day if they tried to get a fourth day of rehearsals in. A sound check perhaps, such as this did at the Pontiac Silverdome before the doors opened, but a full blown rehearsal? I'm gonna have to sort of disagree with that. I could be wrong though.

Yeah he said that as a joke because they were so rusty.

he is "The Merchant" from Canterbury Tales

1880 Chatterbox (magazine?) set of pictures inspired by Chaucer's characters!

symbol is still a mystery, but from a late 19thC illustrator could be a made up symbol, or maybe Erskine Clarke was involved in some occult things, and that's where the symbol is from (and therefore, presumably, Page's interest/ desire to include the image..)..

    Wow.  Amazing find!

I can't seem to find anybody talking about this. I've always wanted to know where the picture that is next to the Stairway To Heaven lyrics in the inner sleeve of Led Zeppelin IV came from. It's a mysterious drawing of a bearded man reading a book, with symbols etched into the stones behind him. Who's the artist, when was is created, and, the most intriguing question, what are those symbols, and what is their meaning? There's one that stands out that I tried my best to draw and look for one matching it. Any information regarding this picture or the symbols would be really be helpful to my search.

    Cool post :)

I have the book which has the originals used for John Bonham and John Paul Jones and also Sandy Denny’s.  It includes theirs and also has many others.

There is this image which looks like the top part.   I wonder if the symbol was “created” from other symbols much like the Zoso one.
