  1. Love to but I didn't actually purchase it, I just saw it on sale. They had a great selection of stuff but the only thing I walked out of there with was a used copy of the Nuge's Free-For-All remaster.
  2. This is what keeps Ms. Minnie at home and happy.
  3. Seems that a lot of the folks that champion the Coverdale/Page record are the same ones that would like to see Page work with the likes of Sammy Hagar. While the Coverdale • Page album had it's moments I enjoy Whatever Happened to Jugula? much more when it comes to Page's post-Zep output.
  4. Drunken teenager making crop circles (aka "donuts").
  5. True but I've aways thought of Guitar Hero and the like as air guitar with actual music. I've never seen one outside of being submitted to them in a big box store but I imagine if Guitar Hero had been around when I was kid it would have been something I would have been interested in. The only Zep comps I own on CD are the first two box sets of studio material. As far as officially released studio stuff that's all one really needs. I always say there's not a lot you young whippersnappers missed out on the 70s, which is true but I will say I truly hate that you missed out on the golden age of AOR (Album Oriented Rock). There's only a handful of stations out there that I'd consider progressive anymore but aside from those, the closest you can get to it nowadays is the Deep Tracks channel on XM. It's even better than the heyday of album rock stations in a sense because there's no concessions to song length or commercials. Still, back in the days of album rock it wasn't uncommon to hear entire albums or lengthy cuts late at night when there was little to no airtime devoted to commercials.
  6. This has always been one of my favorite segments from Married With Children:
  7. Evidently she's under the mistaken impression that the graph is based upon actual statistics and completely failed to get the humorous aspect of it (thus, why I posted it in this thread). I've tried explaining once before but it was apparently to no avail.
  8. Saw this import (which was released back in May) at Offbeat Music in Durham, NC yesterday. It's got some pretty intriguing selections to say the least. 9. Proof positive that not all post-Cream Clapton is bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ics0lO9pp4I
  10. No teenagers with Nikons were harmed in the making of this graph.
  11. The graph is making light of some people's perception of gay marriage. Lighten up, Francis.
  12. Loved it. I foresee a watching of the original movies binge in my immediate future.
  13. I don't think anyone that allowed their music to be licensed for use by Guitar Hero (or similar video games) is under the impression that "these games promote the growth of musicians". In fact, I seem to recall an article about Slash and how he couldn't even play his own guitar parts on Guitar Hero. As has been mentioned, it's a game that's meant for fun. It was never intended to teach someone how to play guitar. That said, I respect Page's decision not to have Zeppelin's music presented in that way even if I don't necessarily agree with that decision.
  14. I think this may have been the first album where I realized Ted didn't sing lead vocals on every song. That honor belonged to Derek St. Holmes, who left during the middle of the recording of this one. A then unknown fella by the name of "Meatloaf" stepped up to the plate and took over for him on the remainder of the tracks (except the title song, which Ted sang himself).
  15. A used copy of Alice Cooper's Muscle of Love on vinyl with all of the original packaging still intact. I bought this new back when it first came out in 1973 but for some reason I threw away the cardboard box it came packaged in and used the book cover that also came with it (silly me). That left me with a record sleeve and the album itself, neither of which have stood up too well over the years. I remember catching some shit from a friend when I first bought this on vinyl back in '76. All because I told him I was tore between John Prine's Common Sense and Free-For-All. Despite my love and appreciation for all things Prine, all these years later I still think I made the right decision. Sometimes a body just needs to rock and to this day, I still don't own Common Sense (I need to fix that).
  16. Another Borders is closing (as is the entire franchise) so that means some halfway decent deals are available if you know what to look for. For instance, a lot of their CDs go for around $18.99 so even at 30% off that's not really a very good deal. I found these at budget prices (and one at 50% off) so they were worth it.
  17. Never knew that. R.E.M. used it to great effect during the opening to "Orange Crush" during the Green World Tour back in '89.
  18. Jake Holmes is a seamstress? Who knew...
  19. I think the legacy of Zeppelin is doing just fine.
  20. Yeah, going to the movies these days can definitely be cost prohibitive. I wasn't too keen about seeing Rise of the Planet of the Apes back when I first saw the previews in the spring but these favorable reviews have at least piqued my interest. I recently found a local theatre that has a $6.50 admission but it still sets you back around $6-7 for a drink and popcorn. The theatre is in very good condition and far from run down but it's not state of the art or stadium seating either. Considering the price difference, I think the lack of those sort of creature comforts is something I can live with.
