  1. I hope the lady and her family who were attacked are okay. Celebrity stalking is just getting so out of control. It's really crazy out there now.
  2. I got into Elmore James after watching the Blues Brothers movie where his name was mentioned. Elmore James was known as the King of the slide quitar. He influenced many bands including Canned Heat, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. Here is Elmore James' Dust My Blues cover of Robert Johnson's "I'll Believe I'll Dust My Broom". Elmore James recorded this song later as "Dust My Broom" which most people know it by today.
  3. I was responding to the Chase. I said I "like" the Monkees, but my point was that they were not to be take as a serious act like CSN&Y. But Neil Diamond did provide them with some hit songs. I never said I didn't take YOU serious. I don't take KISS seriously. I believe you when you say you think they are a great rock and roll band.
  4. I like the Monkees too. But CSN&Y they are not. When decisions are made about make-up, merchandise deals and getting more pre-teens to pay for concert tickets.... there is a loss of credibility in my opinion. That is my main problem with KISS. I have open ears to all kinds of music, but not everything in between is credible. Your warm affections for KISS aside, I am certain you can appreciate that?
  5. Very interesting information, thanks. I've seen a bunch of the interviews on youtube and I come off thinking that Eddie is an asshole, while Dave is just wacky.
  6. I wonder how they handle the forth line of lyrics from Dazed & Confused?
  7. Just to be fair I listened to this with my eyes closed. But sorry, I still find it to be mediocre at best. If you open your eyes the theatrics may be memorable, but that can only get you so far. @Virgil Kane, I can see where you are coming from because with Alice Cooper I grew sneaking my dads sacred albums out to listen to, and I had no idea Alice was doing theatrics, and I still liked what I was hearing.
  8. Since we are actually near the "vernal equinox", you already have a nearly equal amount of day to night. Only Mr. Page and I seem to understand this.
  9. You mean like four "normal guys just standing and playing" like Zep, The Who, and Black Sabbath? Weren't those shows an event? What you keep describing to me is a Madonna or Britney Spears concert. If anyone here could go back in time would they choose front row seats at a KISS event over Monterey Pop, Zep at the LA Forum, Sabbath at Montreux , Dylan electric at Newport Jazz? Those were events. No clown make up and KISS Army membership required.
  10. So they did not wear make up in the beginning?
  11. I heard a funny story. In the 1920s Stalin put the USSR on DLST one spring, but they forgot to turn the clocks back in the fall. Many decades later someone then discovered that the Russian clocks were an hour off.
  12. But those band didn't start out sucking. KISS remind me of the Monkies. Not a real organic band. Just made up with the idea of marketing comic books and action figures. And when sales slumped they tried disco and glam. I think I get it now.
  13. "Lez" only plays "pie" and never plays "Hot Dog"
  14. So If both Dave and Sammy are standing up for Michael, what does that tell you about Eddie? I thought Dave and Sammy didn't like each other much?
  15. So then at this point they were just a "glam rock" band? To be honest, all I could hear at the start of that KISS video were very young people cheering and screaming, not much different from a Katy Perry or Justin Bieber concert. So I guess I still don't get it. My next question would be was KISS more popular in Europe (I don't mean the UK) as in France, Netherlands etc. than it was elsewhere?
  16. In a literal sense you are correct. But in a philosophical sense I have lost something. Just like sitting through a Celine Dion concert for an hour with my girlfriend; I have lost an hour of my life.
  17. Golf courses waste more water, use more chemicals and get more sweetheart deals than oil companies.
  18. Didn't KISS make a disco album?
  19. I was under the impression that we were all supposed to be equal? If the sun people get a government benefit, then the moon people are entitled to equal consideration. Just being facetious, but I think this DST is a disruption. If an employer wants his employees to start at 7am instead of 8am, he can just tell them to do so. And if another employer or a citizen has a different need: they adjust their schedule as they see fit. Farmers hate DST. Farmers are bright enough to know that if it is getting light earlier, then they start earlier. We are being led by the nose on this. Are you aware that the golf course lobby is behind DST? They make billions more because of this policy.
  20. If you work a late shift there is no benefit. Isn't that institutional discrimination against the people of the night?
  21. Thanks for the explanation. What you have said seems to suggest that teens aged 14 or less were into this band, but then the appeal wore off as their tastes began to evolve. I have heard older people say that they never liked KISS and thought them to be a joke. But most of these people were not young teens when this band first came out. For me I was exposed to the through VH1 and all I could think was WTF? I think this is the problem for younger people getting into music; we aren't able to appreciate the evolution of a act in a normal span of time. We see all of them at once, good and bad.
