  1. Son helped me set up new turntable (getting ready for LZ reissues!!) and we played two 45s..my mom's Johnny B Goode (Chuck Berry) and my Rocket Man (Elton John). Those records haven't seen a turntable for 30+ years!! Good stuff!!

  2. Thank you, paul carruthers and dropdown! My daughter bought me the book Robert Plant A Life by Paul Rees. Good timing as I just saw RP for the first time at Jazzfest. I told her she is feeding the monster (re my obsession with LZ), my son says 'You have no idea!!'. I admit I do go overboard at times, like playing LZ non-stop on long driving trips or constantly saying 'I want you to hear this song / watch this performance'. Good thing they like LZ, too!!

  3. That was entertaining, Steve! Awesome that he is so talkative (and then asks their names...ha!). I love how he talks with such admiration about his son (good dad), and: everyone is born with a gift, talent is what you do with the gift. So profound!

  4. The studio version will always have a special place in my heart as it is what led me to Led Zeppelin, and I do love Jimmy's solo. ❤ I also love everything about the HTWWW version and it's slight variations. Robert's "How everything still turns to gold. And if you listen very hard..." is fantastic!!

  5. I agree tomloge. If the buyer knows what he/she is buying a ticket for and enjoys it, why not?

I got the idea to attend the New Orleans festival too late - the only available hotels within a reasonable distance were very pricey. Maybe you will post a review after the show?

Re: Get the Led Out. I have seen them twice and loved them. Excellent musicians. They don't try to look like Zeppelin, no one can "copy" Robert's voice, but the singer has a great one. I wouldn't hesitate to see them a third time.

Thanks, jb126...Great to hear a positive review of GTLO! Now I am really looking forward to seeing them!! Happy to hear that they don't try to look like LZ, I'd much prefer that they capture the heart and soul of the music!

I am also excited about jazzfest, it will truly be an honor and privilege to see the legendary Robert Plant live, and to (hopefully) hear many LZ songs in the setlist! Will def post a review.

  6. April 25-27: Santana, Robert Plant, Eric Clapton, New Orleans - likely the closest I will ever get to LZ live

June 9: Jesus Christ Superstar - (sort of a concert!), New Orleans - wore out the vinyl when I was young

July 5: Get the Led Out, Hard Rock Live, Biloxi MS - from what I've seen on you tube, they sound really good

  7. ^ Yes, that and the live version of The Rain Song. I wonder why Jimmy performed BYA only a handful of times in 70'? I would take this 2 min piece of music over 10 min of BMS / WS any day.

Ditto! I love BYA and wish it were longer. Also love The Rain Song...haven't seen all of the live versions but I really love the Page/Plant live version...a beautiful masterpiece!! ❤❤❤
