I used to feel the same way until I learned that emotional pain and suffering is relative to the individual. A Somalian suffering and starving cannot conceptualize the life of a successful western musician any more than the successful musician could understand the pain and struggles of the Somalian yet both experience pain, loss, & suffering. It is easy for a blue collar worker busting their hump six or seven days a week just to get by...barely at that, to think how easy some rock star has it, even under the worse conditions compared to what he has to deal with. Problem is, its never that simple. Very successful people, especially musicians and actors who typically come from working class backgrounds, are constantly wondering if the people around them truly care about them or are simply in it for the money and fame. If their best friend is secretly embezzling money, if their father is gambling their fortunes away, etc. Then there is the famous interview with Rick Springfield from around 1981 I believe where the interviewer says, "Rick, you must have had hordes of ladies since you were a child you are so good looking..." Springfield replied that no, until he became famous he could not even get a date, women wanted nothing to do with him. He then said as a result he finds it almost impossible to trust anyone, everyone wants, wants, wants and no one gives unless it will benefit them.
So yes, they have stuff and experiences we can only dream of, but then many go home alone feeling they are simply a commodity, just a thing to be exploited and used. When people say they can't believe so and so famous person killed themselves, overdosed, was committed, whatever, they are missing the forest for the trees. Its all relative my friend.
Terrific post

Hey man, any chance of you picking this back up? Love reading all these and am very curious to hear what you have to say on the other shows of this tour.
Are you serious?

I would extend that to Mick Taylor as well. Half of the Stones' best songs from their most iconic era were carried by him yet he had one solo writing credit in the entire span. It was a disgrace.
Completely agree. The Stones have been shite since he left

hi Neil,
IMHO it is a distant and boomy recording. Decent, but not 'excellent' (Nowhere near the quality of the 923 Rock Carnival tape). Check it out.

Thanks mate. Yep I had a listen and you’re right. It’s pretty average I reckon.

Do people want me to upload the recording to You Tube?
Would love to hear it Steve, thanks for offering

I don’t know why everyone is getting so het up. Somebody had a theory. It’s been quickly debunked. Move on, nothing to see here.

I would also appreciate a link please

I just revisited this show. It's great! My favorite Trampled Underfoot and Rain Song, for sure. I also love OTHAF. Bonzo sounds like he's leaned way back in a convertible, one arm on the wheel, the other on the door, just crusin'. In My Time of Dying is great, too. Kashmir is heavy af. Graeme's remaster of the already excellent soundboard brings life and breath to this recording. Love it! In fact I love it so much, it's going to be the topic of my next podcast. I'm glad I gave this another listen. 🙂
I will also post a link to the full show on my webpage, once the episode has been posted. Should be tomorrow (10/17)
Podcast? What’s it called - I’ll give it a listen

While it wasn't Zep, Tea for One was played at a couple of the 1996 Page & Plant Japan shows. There are great-sounding tapes and the performances are very good.,
Too bloody right. It sounds terrific on the boots, even the one with the false start. I love this song

We are eagles of one nest.
The nest is in our souls
Just typing that gives me goose bumps. That song and the lyrics are so evocative.

Could I hear some more context on the "all time low" in their relationship? Not trying to hop on you or anything, but I'm very curious considering the quality of their most recent tour. Also, what's the cause of these conflicted feelings on Grant? If you could direct me to any sources that delve more into either of those things it'd be much appreciated.
Seconded. Really interested in this Steve

Happy memories. Loved that venue. I’m from Liverpool Steve. Saw some great bands there. I’m in Australia now.

P.S. I've just bought the new 6cd Box from EV. Had to have this new Matrix on CD!
How much did that set you back?
New EVSD soundboard?

Can’t see it being the rest of the Osaka show. Surely there would have been much more of a fanfare or lead up to exploit the Christmas market. An additional drip fed single perhaps? Or maybe some more of the LA 75 board?
