50 years ago next week.  Sept 26 1969 in the UK and Oct 1 in the US.  3 weeks before LZII.

At the time I was 10 and the Beatles were everything.  Had never heard of Zeppelin at that point.  Abbey Road blew me away.  What an amazing album.

In my top five albums of all time

Just read the interview which I thought was good with some previews of his upcoming Anthology book.

On the subject of live Zeppelin:

Q: Is there more Led Zeppelin music in the archives?

JP: I am always collating bootlegs and comparing them with what I have. I am meticulous. If it’s already out there, then what’s the point? I want to give fans things they have never heard before.

That’s a “no” to more live releases then. As I thought

Great story indeed! Buy why in the world would he wear that hat and bring Jimmy Page some of his home recordings? He's going to meet Jimmy Page and this chump is thinking "maybe Jimmy would like to hear me strum my geetar and hum." I am sure over the years Jimmy Page has been given hundreds of tapes from amateur musicians that I doubt he could give two shits about. You really think Jimmy Page is going to waste his time? Be thankful you are going to meet and spend some time with the man... and don't wear hat that is big enough for your small stature to live in!

    Pfft. “Chump”????

What an unnecessary post, and totally at odds with the spirit of this thread.

Didn't know whether to include this in live or polls, sorry.

Hi everybody! Pretty soon over on the r/ledzeppelin subreddit, I'll begin posting a survivor series where we vote out the best Zeppelin bootlegs one by one until we're left with presumably the best ones. You can read all the info about it (shows included, when it begins, etc.) here. I'm posting this here to get a general consensus to see if anyone here would be interested in participating, and if I should bother posting it here as well as reddit. If this sounds like something you're interested in, please let me know.

P.S. for the mods: if I do end up posting this here too, would it be preferred that I just keep it here on this one thread and comment the new polls on it daily? Or is making new posts acceptable? Thanks everyone.

Should've added a poll in the first, but I didn't so please vote here to let me know if you're interested or not. Much appreciated.

Sounds like fun. Be interested to have it here

A million times yes! TYG is my absolute favorite Zep song and it's not one they did live very often (or very well - see above, re: all of the guitars). I was SO EXCITED to hear the Crows with Page play it and then Chris Robinson opened his mouth!

TYG is Zep’s masterpiece in my opinion.  My favourite song ever. Period. The missus knows that when I cark it, it’s getting played at my funeral 😀

Nite Owl’s “Ultimate Blueberry Hill” matrix is up on Dime. Sounds really good. It’s a matrix of sources 1,2,3,5 with sources 4/6 just for the intro.

There is some chorusing on the guitar during songs like Since I’ve Been Loving You, That’s the Way, Thank You. Since sounds like Page is using a chorus pedal. I think it may be from using the Rubber Dubber source during those sections, because the parts that don’t use that source (where the Rubber Dubber source is incomplete) don’t have that chorus sound.  Mix probably could have been just as good using just sources 1,3,5. Listening to Immigrant Song or Blueberry Hill, where just 1,3,5 were used sound great.

Your post with the link has been taken down. Not to worry, I have it.

Blasted the first 30 mins in the car this morning and it sounded awesome. What impressed me was the bottom end. Brilliant. I’ll play it all later in with my headphones.

Just a thought - if the rubber dubber source compromises the quality, do you reckon nite owl could be persuaded to circulate a version that only uses sources 1, 3 and 5?

    Thanks again

I can’t get on dime. F😀ck knows why, and the administrators have been less than helpful. If someone has the means of sharing this with me via alternative means, I’d really appreciate it.

I've been on a Page \ Crowes kick since I came across this thread a couple of weeks ago. I saw them three times (Worcester, Mansfield, and Camden.) I didn't realize until recently there is a soundboard of the Worcester show. I remastered it and then used it to replace the soundtrack of the audience video. Here's a brief sample. If anyone wants the full show, send me a message:

Hi mate, if I could have separate links to both the video and audio files that would be terrific. Cheers bud

    Thank you, Mike

Unfortunately Jules the test at Old Trafford has been sold out many months ago - not surprised though. A ticket was eye wateringly expensive. I will miss most of this one as me and Mrs CP are going golfing Friday/Saturday. Will be able to watch first 2 days

You would have to pay me to go to London for the last one. Dangerous place to go and I haven't won the lottery :D

Haha there you go again about London!!! 😀

The Winston remaster is the one to get imho, specifically the one where he used Freezer's audience tape as the main source and patched it with the soundboard. I uploaded it to my YouTube channel (minus the beginning of Stairway, which had to be edited out due to copyright problems). You can find it here:

Thanks. I always thought the WR was predominantly the SBD. Didn’t realise he used it to patch the AUD source. I’ll check it out. I’ll also check out the Tarantura version.

I’m just getting into AUD sources a lot more lately.

Your versions of Seattle 73 and the last night at Earls Court are still my go to’s. And I love your compilations. You’re a good bloke for sharing and doing such great work. Thanks bud

  12. Hi Zepheads.

I’ve got the SBD of this show and recently acquired the Freezers Revenge boot (AUD).

The FR boot is decent, quite hissy. I was just wondering if there was a better audience source for this gig, or if anyone has done a decent remaster of the Freezer tape?

    Appreciate any help.

    Cheers

    Neil

    Top for me is 7/28/73...

    then in no particular order

Seattle 73 ( particularly sinister sounding version)

    Detroit 73

Earl's Court 5/18/75 ( the best by far of 75 IMO)

    Copenhagen 7/24/79

Not at all a fan of 77 versions...rambling , sloppy playing by Page and annoying forays that are incongruous to the vibe of the song.

    Seattle 73 is killer
