Is this about what we would have wanted for a setlist, or what we think would actually have been the 1980 fall US set list?

Zeppelin usually only changed a few songs between tours that were close together, so the starting point for fall 1980 would have been the Europe 80 set list with maybe a few changes.  I read somewhere that Carouselambra was being planned or at least considered.

Given the shape that Page and Bonham were in, I can't imagine there would have been a lot of change in the three months and 10 days between July 7 and Oct 17.

My list based on what I would have liked

Honest question - how bad or frowned upon would it be for me to release the boot to the world? I love to share :) But won't if it's a big "no-no" within the community..

That would be very generous....but i'm just wondering how much of an upgrade this is on previous releases? They are all audience sources, right? Any of the individual nights sound better? Cheers

I was there, together with my friend Jan, The pics from this show  on  YT are mine , BTW (not that I remember Conneyfogle asked permission to use them 🤔).  Indeed a great show, although the acoustics of Flanders expo were horrible (the hall isn't used for concerts anymore).

Jan managed to find a VHS boot of the show, but unfortunately I never digitised that tape

The acoustics/sound at the arena in Manchester in England ruined the gig for me. It was terrible

Update: recently discovered Gent 12-1 (after extensive searching, this is the final boot from Nov/Dec leg I hadn't heard yet) and adding it to the list. An absolutely incredible show - great energy/crowd and Jimmy playing at his peak for this era. I need to give this one more time as it's new to me, but first impression is I like it even more than Oberhausen.

Any idea where I can get hold of the Gent and Oberhausen recordings?

    I just listened to 6/21/77.

Not a fan to say the least

    Too long, too booring.

No quarter just keeps dragging on, that "guitar solo" after a bad Heartbreaker is plain bad, Achilles just sounds dull ... There use to be a time when only Moby Dick would bore the heck out of me, but I feel in this show 3 or 4 songs gave me the same impression.

Great gig, and love the NQ of this show. Kashmir too

I consider "Down by the Seaside" something of a lost song outside uber fans. No real radio play or mainstream visibility. Not played live. Usually gets overshadowed by the other favs on PG. A deep cut and a leftover.

Maybe a future generation of Zep fans won't hate "Carouselambra" so much. A lot of Zep awesomeness crammed into that track.

I love Carouselambra. And Tea For One.

I would love a remix of this album. Just sounds flat to me. Very dated. I guess a new cover would be too much to ask? I think it came out at the wrong time. Page will always be a draw but 1993 was when albums were starting to sound raw and this album sounds like a Whikesnake production. Plus I know I was sick of Coverdale by that point. The cheesy videos in constant rotation and I was done with him for awhile. Although I can tell its Page but he didn't have a guitar sound as good as even Led Zep I and that was recorded barebones. Jimmy should have taken the lead on that.

Agree. Sounds tinny to me. Didn’t like the production

  8. Great list mate. Few observations.

    1. Hots on For Nowhere was performed by Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes. I have an excellent bootleg recording - will send you a link in a week and a half (I am away camping). Great concert.
    2. Tangerine - Page and Plant ones are great.
    3. How Many More Times - Surely has to be the 1969 Denmark TV performance?
    4. Thank You - What about 31/8/71 - New Orleans? Smoking!

if you have the official release version of ‘In the Light’ from JP and the Black Crowes, I’d really appreciate a link.

Great list and a good read.

    Thank you.

Thank you, again. I am so lucky I did not sell off a lot of my vinyl when others were doing so when the CD craze swept everyone in the 1980s and 1990s.

Good for you. Yes, many of us were duped by the marketing machines of the music industry unfortunately. Not that I had many records at that point. I’d only been buying for a few years - I was in my early teens.
