What great radio we had back then Tommy Vance on Friday nights, Fluff on Saturday afternoons, In Concert Saturday evening, Peel from 10pm Monday to Thursday. As for Presence it was either Fluff or TV that played the whole album, put me off buying it for a long tilme, didn't like what I heard. It's always been my seventh favourite Zeppelin album.

I was born in 74, and remember Fluff and Tommy Vance. Used to listen to the Saturday night rock show with Fluff Freeman in the early 90’s while I was getting ready to go out on the town with me mates. Used to start at 7pm and I’d be in the bath. An hour of the show was dedicated to a classic rock concert. It’s where I first heard the Paris Theatre ‘71 show. Blew me away. Great memories.

I agree, but I was damn sure they were holding it for the anniversary two months ago but not to be. Me now thinks they have yet to buy the rest from another party. Strange business we are all involved in!

Think they already have it mate.

So terrible answer overall, but I'm going to throw out the famous April 1, 1971 show at the Paris Cinema Theatre in London even though anyone has listened to this on the BBC Sessions album.

However, if you have never listened to a bootleg copy of this show, then I strongly recommend doing so because there is just something about at least the Empress Valley release of this show that I find to be much better than the official release. The Plantations are great, and I hate to say this especially after getting a remastered version of it, but I find this unofficial mix of it to be significantly better overall. Everything is almost as clear, but with the bass at a normal level it just sounds more natural and the guitar and keyboards are isolated in each channel. I have always had a very difficult time making it all the way through disc 2 of the BBC Sessions, but never have that problem listening to this full show. Stairway To Heaven sounds absolutely beautiful here, which is something I never thought after listening to the official release. Also something about it is that when listening to the bootleg version of the show I find it really captures the atmosphere of the show and you really feel like you are sitting in that small crowd, but on the official release it pretty much feels like you are listening to music that was recorded in a studio with no audience, hell even the 2 seconds of audience at the end of each track sounds like it was just copied and pasted to the end of each song lol.

Plus the unofficial release doesn’t cut out any of the songs e.g WLL

  4. Hi all,

Tried the search function without success.

I may be late to the party on this. Apparently Graf Zeppelin released a new source of this a few months ago (Source 3). I've done a few comparisons on Black Beauty, and it doesn't seem to be that different to Source 2. Is it? Both titles are classed as 'No Longer Down Under'.

For whatever reason, I am unable to access DIME. If anyone can provide me with a link to Source 3, I'd appreciate it.

Finally, if you look at the BB webside, it states the GZ 'No Longer Down Under Version' version of Source 2 is a SBD and AUD merge. I didn't realise there was a SBD for this show. Is that correct?

    Appreciate any help.

    Cheers

I tried it awhile back and didn't have much luck. I'll revisit it someday to see if I can figure out another way to approach it. However, that will be a while. I just moved to a new house and getting it fixed up is taking all of my spare time, and will for the next couple of months.

Well good luck with that! Even just TYG from that show would be awesome

I hope you're right, I'd love to have Thank You from the 29th on soundboard.

Yep he is right. I meant to respond in a similar way, but he beat me to the punch.
They released a snippet of the WLL medley, no doubt to whet the appetite of collectors.
They have the full damned thing alright.

This release by Graf is just fabulous. I've always had a a bit of a problem appreciating this gig mainly due to the issue that Trampled Under Jimmy's Foot (SIRA) has a really grating distorted bass sound!! This release was virtually all Source One.

Some years later I secured a copy of Holy CD last part of the gig, Source 2 Millard recording. Oh, how I dreamt of having the whole gig in this kinda quality. Now with the release of GRAF'S 3 source release which contains much of the third source, my dream is pretty complete & I place this gig as one of the best & most enjoyable 1975 Non Soundboard releases available. NQ & Dazed are absolute standouts. James Patrick is burning bright! Seek & Enjoy!!

Not heard this boot before, so thanks for posting. Really enjoyed it and the matrix is brilliant. Does anyone happen to know if there is a good matrix of the 15/2/96 Osaka show, the night they played ten years gone?

It's a really great version, I agree, but it feels a bit abbreviated, maybe they had time constraints from the BBC?  Generally speaking I'd favor most of the brilliant versions from the US and Japan over this one.

Yep, I agree. Looking forward to the rest of that soundboard coming out for 29/9/71

I'm not an expert, but 1996-02-17 - Century Hall, Nagoya, JP is STELLAR. The very popular '98 New Orleans show is for me unfortunately ruined by sound quality. Swishy drums.

Don’t really listen to NO. But if you haven’t heard them, you should check out the Vegas and Rockplast (?) 98 shows.

In any case, better than when I saw them in 98 in Manchester.

Thank you very much. Sincerely appreciate the kind words.

I see you're from Australia. We're quite a ways from each other and yet Zep had touched our souls together.

    Magic, man. Magic.

Yeah for sure. I finally started learning the guitar 4 years ago as a 42 year old. The acoustic tracks in Zep 3 were my inspiration.

I may be in Australia, but I’m from Liverpool in England. Came here 20 years ago as a backpacker. Met an Aussie girl, and that was that. That girl is now my wife and we have two Aussie kids.

    Have a good day mate.
