Joe Kapp was the man. Saw Vida pitch for SF at Candlestick back in the day.

I was fortunate to meet both these men several times. Mr.Kapp owned a restaurant down the street from where I lived for a while in Mountain View. It was called Kapps. Great Pizza. He would also come and speak at our school as a scared straight kinda of thing at my High School. Vida was a great ambassador of the game and having won 3 championships in a row for my A’s was a beloved figure in the Town. Even though he ended up working for the Giants after retiring he would Make several trips to the coliseum and was always really cool to younger kids looking for an autograph or just taking time to talk. Sad to see all these guys from that generation passing away.

These are amazing! I ran across this on google looking for Zeppelin interviews. I love these above ^^^

I plan on listening to some concerts and will try to come back to this... I just finished, "Zeppelin on Zeppelin", a chronological log of interviews (also with author notes before/after interview) which I would HIGHLY recommend... Then I spent a ton of time listening to all the interviews. Here's one I enjoyed, and there's one with Plant/Jones from 1979 and it's great to hear things right when they happened. I also recommend this "In Through The Out Door" documentary, especially part 6, where they really go into "Carouselambra"

I really like this one. I hadn’t heard it in a very long time. So very cool to hear John. Man, what a loss. I can only imagine what it was like for them. We have all certainly lost loved ones in our lives. But to think of the enormity of this loss individually, and collectively, and what it was to the music world cannot be overstated. I realize the loss of John Lennon. I certainly know that we have lost major influences over the years, I can’t help but feel that this loss, their loss, our loss of the greatest drummer who is obviously part of the greatest band has not been fully realized by the general public. Maybe that is what makes this band so different, that even if you were not alive to see them, or old enough to have seen them, but to listen and or read interviews, you really get the magnitude of who he was to the group, and who he was and what he meant to all of us. Just tragic, and also very cool to hear his thoughts and opinions on any number of subjects.

    Thanks for posting this.

Thanks. I enjoy your posts, too...even if you drink Bud Lite.

It is sad what a clown show politics has become. There have always been politicians who I did not like, whether they were Democrat, Republican, or Independent, but you always felt that the adults in the room would keep them under control and that both sides would put aside their differences and come together for the good of the country and get shit done.

Now, that feeling is gone. There don't seem to be any adults left. Anytime one puts country ahead of party politics, such as Liz Cheney, they get shunted aside for fire-breathing morons like Marjorie Taylor Green.

Compromise is a dirty word and it's now my way or scorched earth aftermath.

Yes Sir, very well said. And luckily I don’t drink that piss water Bud Lite. More of an IPA man myself. Although I may have an allergy to something in IPAs as I have started to get headaches almost if not every single time I drink one. I love a good IPA for sure, but even if I have just one lately I will inevitably get a slight to major headache.

    Have a great night Strider.

I laugh just as hard at you lefties.  :hysterical:

It really doesn’t have to come down to Lefties or Righties. If we all believed everything that our political parties stood for or every word out of their mouth, that would make us look like fools. There are plenty of idiots, with plenty of dumb ideas and thoughts on either side. I’m sure you have several you could point on the left, just as that human trash bag MTG, or that uneducated ridiculous mouth piece Lauren B or George Santos. But to sum up all Democrats in a word or for myself to sum up all Republicans in a word would be disingenuous, and they are not all representative of all of your or my beliefs I would hope.

If we continue to go to our tribal corners as our elected officials are doing we are never going to get anything done for our country. I do have a question, when did the right start trusting Russia. Or more specifically when did they start trusting and actually believing Putin over our own security forces/apparatus? I know that we all feel China is an issue, but Russia is just a Chinese puppet.

George Santos is now qualified to run for president.

Yes Sir! And he can now ask for a ton of money to commit to his campaign. It is an utter joke to see where our politicians and politics have gone. As a 46-47 year old man to have watched where we were in the 80’s to what we have devolved into is insane. This license to spew bullshit and for the craziest people to have a say and voice is absolutely incredible to me. To be honest to see where we have moved from the Romney Obama 2012 election cycle to where we are at now is unbelievable and unimaginable to me personally. However, here we are.

Thanks for your posts. I always appreciate them Strider.

try and refute what I said, Everything I said is true. You have no evidence to support your assertion that it isn't.  All you have if "no it's not"  try and make me believe I dont know what I'm talking about by showing me how I'm wrong. I watched all this shit happen. I see it every day. Are you really going to tell me that the border is secure? Are you going to tell me that thousands of people haven't died been raped or abused along the way to come here illegally ? Are you telling me there is no crisis there? Are you telling me there is no huge increase in drugs and fentanyl coming into the country? or that the country wasn't energy independent under trump?. gas was a $1:38 where I lived the day biden took office now it's $3:60 a gallon where I live.

Are you really going to tell me that he didn't kill the keystone pipeline and put plenty people out of work as soon as he could?

Are you really going to tell me that afghanistan didn't happen the way I saw it happen?  Are you telling me they didn't kill and innocent man and 7 kids in a revenge drone strike?

I guess biden doesn't have a grandchild by hunter that was already proven by DNA in court. Tell me how I'm wrong there?  I quoted biden about the children being the nations children and he ignores that child at the exact same time.

Give me a break. I could list a bunch more so try and actually produce valid links to the contrary. go ahead post them I know you cant. They don't exist.

Gas was a 1.38 when we are all on lock down and no one was driving. But, again, you are absolutely 💯 all in or against the enemy as you see them. Again, I am good with how you want to proceed in life. I purchased a business during the height of Covid, and we are absolutely crushing it. God willing we will continue to do so. As far as refuting it. I don’t know that you would listen or read anything other than your thoughts and beliefs. I absolutely would rather not rev each other up anymore. We both end up looking like assholes. I do that enough in my home life and on this forum. Again, I am calling a truce with you Hummingbird. If you don’t give a shit, I’m okay with that also.

    Hi,

I've been doing colorization on old pictures as part of my work as a photographer, for my clients, and wanted to give back a bit to the community.

Here's the first performance of Led Zeppelin as the New yardbirds colorized. I tried to be as close to the reality as possible (I've check for the color of Jimmy's strap, the drum kit ..)

    Hope you like it !

That’s looks awesome man. JPJ tits and all. Just kidding with you, the colors are brilliant! Great job. I wonder why it looks like he has a set of tits though. The shirt was bunched up I suppose. Again, amazing contribution my friend.

Yeah man, the color is awesome! But it does look like JPJ had a C cup on the right hand side for sure. But, the colors are cool as it gets.

Ah I wasn’t born early enough. I came very close to meeting plant recently. Annoyingly so. It was all over the news that he’d popped up in a bar near me, I walked straight past that bar not only that night but at the time he was reportedly there. I walked straight past him :(((

Next time duck into that bar/pub. That is way too close to not have walked inside. Just kidding man, but rad choices! I appreciate them. Have a great night Sir.

You couldn't have answered the question better. Wonderful answer my friend. Oh I love those 77 shows too. I love Plant's cracked and often broken voice the best. So raw and powerful. I also love the Knebworth shows. Hell, like you said so well, I appreciate and love all of it as well.

Gotta say that 2 songs that leave me cold, Candy Store Rock and Hots on for Nowhere. Bonham kind of saves them for me.

And I nominate you for coolest Dad ever 😎

Thanks for the nomination my friend. I agree that Bonham saves those songs. But sometimes depending on my mood Presence will become my favorite album. I have been trying to get my daughter into all of their albums of course, but I routinely make her listen to ALS, live or in the studio.

I prefer 104.1 The Hawk out of Sac for getting the led out. They tend to play a few more songs than the Bone.

I have been able to get that station when I was driving through that area. And you are right, they play great music in general. I have Satellite now, and while there are some great stations. They don’t play nearly enough Zeppelin on there. But, I can just hit Apple play and play them whenever I want. There is still something about hearing them come on without my decision to make them come on.

Thanks for the reminder though. That was a cool station when my wife and I would drive through that area taking the boat out. Hope they are still around.

You wouldn't know informed from a man. You support people who believe men can become women and don't say you don't because you support this admin and they say men can become women ergo you believe it too. If you didn't you'd be out there telling everybody who did that they were wrong the very same way you tell me I'm wrong. Like a two faced jackass.

You have no credibility what so ever here or anywhere else. You couldn't win the argument if you tried.

    Four years of trump

I made more money, saved more money and had money to spare.

    No new wars

    Low gas prices

    NO inflation

    No border crisis

    Russia didn't make a move

    China rebuffed

    isis demolished

trump stopped the taliban from attacking and women began standing up for their rights as humans but as soon as biden was elected and went in and stopped all the policies trump put in place they took right back over and have stopped women from having any rights AGAIN. So if you really believe yourself to be a righteous person you should feel very good about supporting those who put the taliban back in charge of Afghanistan.

    2 years under biden

first day in office put 11,000 people out of work by shutting down the keystone pipeline and setting this country up for high inflation by by making gas prices rise by half and only going to get higher.

Im not making as much money, I'm not saving much money and I don't have extra to spend on the kids. Under trump I had all that.

My tax dollars, your tax dollars are being sent overseas by the billions in support of a war that should never have started in the first place.

You should feel real good about voting these people in.

hundreds of thousands of of illegal aliens just waiting to cross the border every month from all over the world but who cares who they are or where they are from as long as they don't move next to your house right? What about the thousands of men women and children have been abused, raped murdered or trafficked??  More drugs and fentanyl than ever.  No smartass answer for that I bet.

13 soldiers dead due his and the militaries incompetence at the hamid karzai airport

general milley killed an innocent man and 7 children in a revenge drone strike on a car they wrongly thought was driven by the terrorist who set up the bombing at the hamid karzai airport. Imagine your reaction if trump had done that. I mean, I am 100% sure you were totally horrified that he took out irans top general weren't you.

You can't admit that you and every other idiot who voted for the left just because you didn't like trump have ruined this country.

All this transgender bullshit, purposely allowing full grown men dressed like rejects from the ugliest clown parade ever to shake their shit right in the faces of little children. MEN becoming Women as a fact and destroying the dreams or real women in sports. CRT and woke ideology making all things racist including being skinny. Oh, you haven't seen that one yet have you.  The green initiative. If you think wind turbines, solar panel farms and electric vehicles are green then you don't know what the color even looks like.

    YOU support that not me.

Joe biden says  "out nations children are all our children" except for the kid hunter had with that stripper. He won't even acknowledge her.

Crime is rampant everywhere now because all the liberals put in place are giving the criminals more rights than the victims. That's the world you voted for and support. Have the balls to say so.

Everything I just posted is true you cannot deny it.

You support dirt bags of the highest order so don't go telling me I'm spewing shit because you wouldn't know the truth if it hit you right in the face like I just did.

Hey Hummingbird. I am calling a truce. You have your opinions, and I have mine. We both have no idea who each other are from some posts that we throw out there for whatever reason we throw them out. I respect your thoughts and opinions regardless if I agree with them or not. You are passionate about what you believe and think. I am good with that. I could spew a bunch of shit/statistics and throw in some articles. In the end it really doesn’t matter man. You have some very serious convictions. I do as well. We probably have more in common that you would think. As much as I would like to go back and forth with you on who is right or wrong. I am good with just trying to learn from others and not be someone who thinks that they are always right.

I hope you and yours are good, I am not in the mood to verbally spar anymore. I would rather discuss the band that we are here for. I say that today, and I may read a post that you have thrown out there tomorrow and want to go on the offensive. But truly, unless we start trying to listen to one another, what the fuck does it matter. We can go to our tribal corners and not hear a word anyone is saying. That just doesn’t really interest me anymore. So, I respect your thoughts and feelings on your political beliefs. I really don’t care if you do for myself or others. Just as long as we are enjoying the forum and the band we love, we have that in common at the very least.

Have a good night. Honestly, I didn’t read what you said to me because I know that I encouraged and wanted a reply. But at this point, I just want us all to be safe, healthy, and to move forward in a positive way.  Hope to hear from you soon man. Have a good night.

Also, as a side note, whether I support this admin or not does not mean that I believe that men can have babies. That’s  like saying because you support Trump you think it is okay to grab women by the pussy. I could give several examples. You can support an ideology, or support a set of principles, but that doesn’t mean you support everything about the individual, or the party. I did read that part. Just wanted to answer that portion. Having said that, you and I both have real life problems that no party or political figure/figures are ever going to solve. They are not supposed to. That’s up to you and I.

I'd like to post to the Zeppelin Mysteries Thread but it seems some 50 years after the release of the debut album there's very little left unsaid or unsolved. Much of what is not known is only known by the band members themselves, and they aren't telling, or others who are long since deceased.

I can understand that. I just feel like you have always come up with some gem that we didn’t know, or maybe we had forgotten. Either way, I know it is a lot of work. Thanks for the threads/posts Steve. Lots of people here enjoy them, and I think we are getting new members that would like to have some information on the band. But again, I get that it is actual work coming up with it. I’m still holding out hope for Mr. Strider to give us his 72 memories. Not kissing anyone’s ass on this forum, but there are a group of you that I remember reading from the old board, and a bunch of you are still around. It’s cool for the younger generation to be able to soak up the information while you guys are still active on the forum.

    Thanks again.

I really appreciate the comments. Thank you. ☺️ My left arm is slowly getting better and I only recently got back to trying to record. Not as much pain now, but still taking a half dose of oxycodone. I also still have some numbness in my ring and pinky finger, but that too seems to be going away. I'm working on my cover of 'Expecting To Fly' by Neil Young. It's been a fave since the 60's. It's a sad breakup song. Don't think I have the greatest voice, but I'll give it a shot. Also adding some mandolin to it and a quick bit of castanets. Here's a cover I found on You Tube.

That is awesome Red. I am looking forward to hearing it. Please let me know what you put that out there man. I find it to be an inspiration. Keep at it my brother.

Well, just to be clear don't conflate his selling his rights to receive royalties from sales of Led Zeppelin's back catalog with his change of bandmates and management. They were two separate and distinct events, with the change of bandmates and management occuring afterward.

Just between us girls, there was a time in my life when my ability to recall events and capacity to aggregate information and retain it was rather remarkable if I do say so myself. That was a very long time ago and I have become convinced I'm entering the back nine of mental acuity. I am exceedingly hesitant to post anything from memory anymore. Oh sure, I usually will get the gist of it right but the finer details escape me. Fortunately, I always journaled a lot, took copious amounts of notes and my unpublished memoir was drafted long ago. The upside of getting old is one reaches a point in life where one has little left to say, if only because it's all been said before and there's a search function.🙂

I loved the back nine reference Steve. In my profession I have to remember all kinds of information all day everyday. I am finding it harder to remember verses just writing it down to make sure I don’t forget. I like to think as we get older our minds are full of more information and we have more to remember. I truly believe that. So to not let the inconsequential information go, we actually have to try and work on those memories.

Thanks again for the info. I know for sure you have answered this many times, I thought that Robert was able to get his royalties back, or that he had to purchase them back. If I am mistaken and you have answered this many times I apologize.

    Have a great night Steve.

  19. I have been listening to his performance for a few days now. While I love/respect every member equally, it is amazing to see Plant out there actively working and pursuing his passion and dedication. I will say that I would love for him to do something acoustic with Page, but either way, just being able to watch and listen to him perform is incredible. This is a 75 year old man who is crushing it! God Bless him.

But sometimes it is just insanely hard to do that when people just spew Fake Fox News who by the way just had to give 787 Million dollars because they have no journalistic integrity. The crazy thing is, I see people saying that The NY Times are bullshit, those same people have no idea that if they publish an incorrect article, they have fines and they also have to publish it in several publications. But, thank you for your post. That Hummer 69 character is just that. An ill informed jackass! It is unbelievable to me the shit I see these people spew. Thanks for you post. I appreciate it.

Thank you for all the wonderful information Steve. If I am mistaken I apologize, but I thought the Esperanza label was before Shaken and Stirred. I thought that Album dropped in 85. I know that his 87/88 album Now and Zen was 2/88. He absolutely started playing Zeppelin after and or during that time. I am sorry, I am looking it up now and you are correct. The label and the management was absolutely in the timeline you explained above. Damn, you are good Sir. Please offend someone soon, I miss it.
