  1. It made me happy in April to know that, after 26 years, someone was arrested for the murder of a local teen; it made me happy today to know he pleaded guilty; and it'll make me happy in January to know that he'll get a mandatory life sentence.

I had a really shitty day, but hearing that evened it out. Now we can live in peace. RIP C.A.

Glad to hear the murder was solved and he'll get what he deserves. I'm so sorry about your shitty day :console:

  2. Here's one I'm sure many people can answer. It's been long time since I've seen TSRTS (sounds like a good song lyric in there - better save that one), but is there not a brief shot in the film of RP walking offstage and blatantly puffing a joint that's been thrown from the fans? Or am I misremembering it?

I don't remember that - could have been a cigarette though. I do remember he picks up the joint and has a big smile on his face :D

  3. Thanks 9 and Fan_S. My mom fell again today. I've flown out here from Wisconsin to give her a shoulder to lean on, but I go back on Tuesday. It's been 3 weeks and I need to take care of business back there. I need to go home and be with Angi. Fortunately, mom's daughtr in law has arranged to stay here through Xmas. So that's good as she will be staying with mom and can look after her. Sucks like hell when your parents get fragile though. Half of me wants to flee the constant hospital visits and be with Angi, the other wants to hold my mom's hand. It's the worst. It fucking sucks.

Yes it does suck :console: I wish I had some magical words to make it easier. One day at a time. I'm glad her daughter in law will be there through Christmas so she will have some care.

  4. Stepdad (age 87) has been diagnosed with a fractured hip after he fell off the x-ray table while in the hospital. WTF??

Fortunately his blood is no longer toxic, though he got staph from his dialysis cath. Hospitals. Run me over with a bus when my time comes, please! Can I sign a DNR here?

:console: So sorry to hear that. It's really awful how many people end up with worse medical issues once they get to the hospital than the initial reason they're admitted :( Thinking good thoughts for you and your family xxx

  5. I'm just starting it with one of my students! One of those rare times I read something with them that I'd read on my own time, too. Looking forward to it. Have you read his second novel - A Thousand Splendid Suns? I'm in the middle of a few books now for work but was wondering if this one too came recommended. Oh, and hi Nine

    Hi Patrycja

Yes I've read his second novel. Also well worth reading and very emotional. Highly recommend it too!

  6. I caught "New Moon" streaming and sat through it. Terrible terrible movie. I mean even bad movies would be embarrassed to have this be called a bad movie. There's a scene where Bella crashes on her motorcycle (helmets people, helmets!) and he head's bleeding a bit. So hottie werewolf rides up to her to see if she's ok. Then he stands up, and takes off his shirt so he can dab the blood on her forehead :hysterical: . Too much slo-mo, too much emo, too much bad dialogue. At least I didn't spend any money on it.

I also saw "The Kite Runner" which was very good. A story of friendship, courage and redemption set (in part)in the backdrop of the Afghan/Russian war.

Kite Runner was great - the book is much much better - an incredible and moving story and one of the best books I've ever read.

  7. Thanks, nine :). The suspicious part of me has a feeling it's an inside job. The guy at the last store I was at said he had eighteen other people with the same problem this weekend alone. Getting it straightened out (hopefully) tomorrow :)

It's just frustrating when "new and improved" ends up being faulty. Fingers crossed it will get sorted out tomorrow!

  8. Hello all

This was actually a couple weeks ago but the pic just came in, now I can work on getting the 40 lbs back that I lost during my recovery and treatmentssmile.gif Oh yeah, I'm standing in front of the bell so you can't see itslapface.gif

Finally made it to the firing range to test fire my Tommy Gun.

Had to stop a couple times because I was tearing up the target and it started swinging back and forth on me.

So happy to hear you are done with the treatment and out enjoying yourself!!! Looking well :)

  9. Old bank card, had it for years, no problems.

New bank card - the one with the chip technology so I can "shop with greater confidence and security!" - had it for two days, my account's been compromised and blocked :mad:

"See what your access card can do for you" pfffft...thanks. Thanks a lot.

:console: That is so frustrating :(

  10. Really?? Wow I never would have guessed that about you, nine! Yeah I don't even like trailers. If you ever want me to clear a room, just start playing one LOL. Aaaah yes, the 'Exorcist' - isn't that the one where the head spins 360? :o And 'help me' pops up on her stomach? :o:o Geeeeeeeeeeeez I can't take it!!! bleeeeeeeh!!! (I was going to sleep well tonight)

    Yours truly,

    chicken shit :P

  Awwww - I'm sorry you won't sleep well tonight :console: I do love to be scared but I'm not a fan of gore movies like Friday the 13th and that sort of thing. Those aren't scary, more gross. Silence of the Lambs is another favorite :D

    Cues Twilight Zone music....

  11. When I was a kind I stumbled on "Omen" on tv, right when the elevator fell (this when I lived on the 22nd floor) and that pretty much did it for me as far as scary movies were concerned

Hope you enjoy it, nine :)

:o:lol: I LOVE scary movies :D The Omen is a favorite though the Exorcist is one I need to watch peaking through a blanket ;)
