I agree with the current music they have in many stores, but a few sill have great playlist and seem to understand that the people spending the MOST money are people from our generation.

I stopped shopping at one store I used to like after they add a bunch current crap music songs, and also started making half of the announcements over the PA in Spanish.  I guess nobody can please everyone, but if I'm shopping and annoyed, or my blood pressure goes up, the I can't even be in the store to spend my money.

I think some marketing people make a mistake of targeting music, or ads to larger young demographic, when they should be targeting to the age group which has and spends the most money. Which would still be our generation. When the market is playing some assclown vocal assisted crap aimed at the 12 year old coming into buy a bag of chips (crisps) and single sodapop, as apposed to the housewife there to fill a basket (trolly) full of hundreds of dollars of groceries and sundries, then they are just being short sighted.

I went to buy myself a new pair of Reebok Classics today while out shopping, the store I visited were playing really loud rap style music I decided that as I wanted the shoes more more than I needed them I left.

Hint: it resembles another album cover from around the same time period.

The thread has been moved here now, but I first had this posted on the LZ master section because this technically does pertain to Zeppelin.

A similar idea maybe but resemblance, that's a bit of a stretch, fair do's though, I see where you're coming from. Another one in a similar vain from a later period The Travelling Wilbury's. Anymore ?

Spackling, sanding, and more general prep to paint the kitchen cabinets in our new house. While I was doing it, I was distracted a couple of times by the sound of branches hitting our roof. At first I figured it was just windy, but after it kept happening I went outside to see what was going on. Turns out there were two porcupines in a tree near the house. It was hard to tell what they were at first, but eventually I could see the outlines of their quills. I've seen them on the ground before but didn't realize they climb trees. Checked the web and apparently they're abundant in the area near our new house and they eat twigs. We don't have any pets so I'm not worried about them being in the yard, but it was a strange introduction to the wildlife in the neighborhood. I expected bears and moose and assorted smaller animals, but porcupines in trees never crossed my mind.

Never heard of "Spackling"  before, had to google it, so basically it's just filler. Been decorating the  house myself, almost finished, one room to do.

I’m not asking to be forgiven, you said you were trying to be friendly by calling me Ellie, so being the good guy that I am, I said I was sorry, I didn’t or am in no way asking for forgiveness, so please don’t turn this into something it’s not.

I’m being nice and your trying to undermine that.

I think you meant to type "You're" as in "you are" not "your", it's a misapplication of those two words that many people make.

I don’t call you names, don’t change mine to make it sound silly.

Oh dear, I was trying to be friendly, your sensitivity will be noted.

A mate had his Oxford/Astra Zeneca shot last evening. Just told me he has never felt so rough in his life. Up all night freezing and sweating. Today a monster headache and still feels like death. Can't wait for mine on Tuesday:(

You'll be alright, from the three of us in this household only I had any side effects, I felt  a little groggy the next day for a few hours or so, it soon cleared up.

Sounds like the guy watched one too many sci-fi movies. Your DNA cannot be altered as an adult outside of removing a compromised section (gene therapy), plus a virus has no DNA, virus are RNA only and barely qualify as a form of life. Prions which cause Creutzfeldt/ Jacob Disease (mad cow disease) is a Prion based infection which has neither DNA or RNA and is almost impossible to destroy (only temps in excess of 1,500 degrees will destroy a Prion) has science baffled. Is it alive? What is it? Either way, nothing can alter a persons DNA outside of removing a damaged section however environmental factors can damage your DNA which could lead to disease.

So no, it is impossible for an RNA vaccine to affect ones DNA

Exactly. Said mate follows the "Truth Movement", it's the kind of thing that suits him down to the ground. He gets a real kick out of being "alternate", it gives him a smug sense of superiority  because he's right and everybody else is uneducated. There is no telling him anything, it's entertaining actually.  I do try to sway him but I'll always get the "You're wrong you need to do your research".  I've known the guy for thirty years, he's a good friend, but man, some of his views...

  10. Had a bit of a row with an old mate yesterday, he's anti vaccine and says no way will he ever get the jab. He told me my DNA will be changed  to which I told him that was bollox, "You need to do some research" he ranted. Better still let's just agree to disagree said I, and left it at that.

Hey there my friend, a little moisture is always a good thing in the Valley. We got about a foot of snow so far with more on the way. I almost popped a nut shoveling. Jesus Christ!

That's a rare thing around where I live, last time I had to shovel snow was winter 2012/13.

Which vaccines are they currently giving in the UK?

Our three options are Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson.

As far as I know I'll be getting the OAZ (Oxford Astra Zen..) or the Pfizer, not sure if they do any others.

    Edit

Right then, I got the OAZ, left the house at two twenty back home at five past three. Got to the place, straight in no wait, answered a few questions, got the shot had to sit for ten mins after so as to make sure there were no adverse affects. Will get a call in ten to twelve weeks to get my second shot.

Here ya there, driving stinks! At least city driving stinks, too many dopes on the roads these days. 20 years ago you only had to worry about the occasional drunk driver, now most people are texting, reading, high AF, or a combo of all three while driving.

I remember that scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High when Mr. Hand (Ray Walston) says, "Is EVERYONE on dope?" Just get behind some punter at a street light today and you will get your answer once the light changes.

After refusing the invitation this morning to drive forty five mins for my vaccine shot, this afternoon I got a call from my local GP surgery offering me a shot only ten mins drive away this coming Friday at the same place my diabetic son had his, I accepted. It's bugging me they did not give me that option to begin with, I think it's a ruse, get people to travel stupid distances so they can "spread the load" so to speak. Yeah, driving stinks, fortunately most of my driving in these Covid times is only local, taking my wife to and from work, shopping trips,  no more than a few miles either way, that's it.

  14. Got an invitation for a my vaccine shots the nearest centre I could book an appointment was about 45 mins away, my wife had her shot just over 10 mins away, my son a different centre less than ten mins away. I'm in no hurry, I'll wait until I can get one closer to home,. fuck travelling, I hate driving to anything that's more than half an hour away.

  15. I'm happy because I've made someone else happy, a couple of weeks ago I had to change my car, I'd had it for almost nine years, it was four years old when I bought it.  120,000 miles on the clock, more things wrong with it than were worth spending the money to put right.    So I traded it in for a newer car at my local motor trader, same place I bought the old car. As I didn't expect to get much for the old car I told Bill the garage owner whatever he gets for the car to donate the money to a charity of his choice. He was astounded/gobsmacked, he said in thirty+ years as a car dealer nobody has made such a gesture. I just got off the phone with him, he called me to tell me the sale made £300 which is going to a local charity. I was prepared to give the car away, happy to get rid of it, I well had my money's worth out of it. Word is around at what I did with a little luck I may have started  a new trend, can't get over that I've done a first, I would have only blown the money on dust gathering records anyway.

Re registration makes sense. But I do like the idea of also having IDs. We provide IDs for everything else, why not for voting?

Carrying ID would make me feel like I was living  in some sort of "oppressive regime ?" for want of a better term. I agree though some sort of ID for voting would make sense, a utility bill maybe. It'll be a dark day if carrying ID ever becomes mandatory, I'm glad we have never have to.

  17. "Disappearance at the Cecil Hotel" on Netflix. As soon as I saw the elevator scene I knew right away that "Elisa Lam" was having a Psychotic Episode from the way she was behaving. Couldn't believe the theories some were having on her strange movements.  That poor girl was probably only trying to hide.
