  1. I can relate to the inaccuracies, misspelled songs, etc. but also. the palpable exitement coming from the crowd, at least on some of the few that i had. I know for a fact, one of my faves,"Bonzo's Birthday Pary" May 31st, 1973 Inglewood Forum.

At the beginning of the show, the usual crowd noises...then you eventually here Jimmy making a few warm up sounds...the crowd gets mega-excited in anticipation for what is about to occur...then you hear the obvious first notes of "Song..." and the crowd goes absolutely nuts! You can hear the bootleggers (I assume, or people in their vicinity) talking and sayin' stuffl like OMFG, and "WOOOOWHOOOOOO!!!" "Un effing real!!!" etc, etc. I used to love listening to this one just to listen to the happiness, the utter joy of these lucky souls....When jimmy does the bow part in "Dazed" you can literally hear a few guys say (and feel) something like "OMG, whoa..." You can tell they were blown away...

This recording came in a plain pea/lime green colored sleeve, no info at all except the title and date. I remember they play "the Ocean" and once again the audience goes bonkers!!! Robt says in his introduction, "This song was writted for you and about you, it's called 'the ocean' . Mayhem follows, the kind associated with pigs wallowing in their favorite substance...everyone was in HOG HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially me, and i only heard it on the vinyl! Peace!

[/quote....................... ..................Happy days...Bonzo's Birthday Party in Green sleeve and on two Green vinyl discs (TMQ)...Don't forget also had that radio ad for Californian Prunes.. ha ha .... Got mine the day the place where i bought my boots got all the new boots for that week..... Probably only cost £4.50.

  2. Has Anybody Got the book The Jimi Hendrix Experience it really cool Done by Janie with a few words by MIth as well A great read any Hendrix Fan will Love it
Not if Janie Hendrix has anything to do with it.
  3. I love The Jimi Hendrix Experience. My favoruite album is Axis: Bold As Love.

Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell are really underrated, Mitchell is one of the greatest drummers i've heard!

Noel Redding was the weak link. The Experience were put together in a rush so he only got the gig because he looked the part. On record Jimi played most of the Bass parts. On stage Redding frequently got carried away with his own over inflated ego, Often pissing Jimi off, After all NR was'nt really a Bass player he was a Guitarist..... Now, Billy Cox he was the guy, perfect for Jimi and he was a proper Bass player... the right man for the job, Also good enough not to have his Bass parts overdubbed by Jimi...unlike Reddings parts.
  4. Janie Hendrix has said they will be officially releasing Royal Albert Hall on DVD and CD in the new year.
Where and when did you hear/read that ?..............I can't find reference to that one anywhere............RAH was originaly set for cinema release back in either 71/72, But never made it out due to licensing issues, so it'll be about time............As for Janie Hendrix her sleeve notes make me wanna puke...........imo if it was'nt for Eddie Kramer the JH catalogue would be completely fucked....hang on i'm going off on one.... can't help it...... Jimi has been a BIG obsession for me for over 35 years.
  5. Isn't that version just an edited version of the one from the deluxe edition who's next? I haven't listened to my copy of the Join Together single in ages, so I'll have to go refresh my memory next chance I get.
No......... the version on Who's Next is from the NY Record Plant sessions and has Leslie West on guitar. I think the B-side version is from the Young Vic sessions.
  6. Agreed, but Roger was a little weak on Baby Don't You Do It in the early days. The version from the record plant sessions on the deluxe edition of Who's Next is fucking monumental, miles better than the other versions. Put the version from odds and sods on then follow it up with the one from the deluxe edition of Who's Next, you'll see how much he improved in those few years.
My favourite version of BDYDI, is the one from the B-dide of the 1972 single Join Together which so far has not been released on CD.
