  1. I'm on vacation for an entire week! Off to Milwaukee tomorrow evening, then on to Chicago on Tuesday. There will be baseball (of course!) and lots of food!! I will look like the Goodyear Blimp when I get home. Yay!!

  2. My Mom is in the hospital with asthma and bronchitis; she has been feeling badly for a couple of weeks and the medicine she was on wasn't helping. She seems in good spirits and hopefully will be home mid-week.

Positive thoughts to your mom and you!!

  3. I am the cook here. No need to look up. Wash the chicken and cover with fat free buttermilk. Overnight in frig. Then after addiing salt and pepper to flour, dredge (cover) the chicken well with the flour. The buttermilk will make it hold well. Then deep fry in either crisco or oil of choice at 350 minimum and make sure about 7-9 minutes on each side. Just keep your eye on it, will turn good and golden and will melt in your mouth.

    Too bad you're 13 hours away... :)

I'll give this to him. We'll see how it goes. Thanks!

  4. Tried a southern fried chicken recipe off Martha Stewart. You soak the chicken pieces, I used split breasts cut in half, in fat free buttermilk overnight. Then you coat it with flour real well that has salt and pepper in it and deep fry about 7-9 minutes on each side. Turned out great!!

Fried chicken is my favorite food in the whole world!!! I may have to look this up...and ask my husband to fix it. It's nice not to be the cook in the household :D

  5. Nellie McKay (loooove her!) - Normal as Blueberry Pie

The Heavy - House That Dirt Built

    Bettye Lavette - Interpretations

Follies in Concert - the one from 1985 with Mandy Patinkin and a bunch of other people :). Have it on cassette, but totally forgot about it until I heard a cut on the Broadway channel on XM. Love this recording!!

  6. Going to see Lewis Black at the Warner Theatre in DC on 9/24. The last time we went to see him, my face hurt afterwards from laughing so hard!

And, I just got tickets to see Craig Ferguson at Carnegie Hall in October! I'm soooo excited!!! Love Craig and I've never been to Carnegie Hall. I may have 2 extra tickets if anyone's interested.

  7. My wine was delivered! I hold no hope that it's actually any good (although the Black Zeppelin is supposed to be decent), but the bottles will make great candle holders when they're empty!! :D

I hope quoting myself isn't bad form.... but this wine is available right now on Wine Woot...in case anyone's interested. It's surprisingly good, and the bottles are fun!

  8. 1 Year Smoke Free! :D

    Mazel Tov! That's wonderful!!

We took my sister out for her birthday dinner tonight. Jack's Bistro in the Canton neighborhood of Baltimore. Wonderful place...can't say enough good things about it.

  9. Went to Brasserie Beck tonight... had a wonderful lamb sandwich with goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Accompanied by Gouden Carolus Tripel (ordered the Hopsinjoor, but they were out...). Fabulous beer...wonderful food. Can't wait to go back and try, well, everything else on the menu!

  10. A lot of the lanes around here have Cosmic Bowling on the weekends. We were just finishing up last night when they started... black lights, disco balls and loud music. Looks like fun...next time we may go later in the evening.
