  1. For some reason, it seems to me that the station is way more repetative than it was the first go-round... I also listened on the way in to work, and on the way home it was the same songs in the same order. I actually went back to the news...which really isn't a bad thing. :)

Does anyone remember there being more variety last time, or am I having a senior moment?

  2. If you have a paid internet subscription to XM, it seems you can't get XM Led. Channel 39 is not listed. :boohoo: Earlier in the year when the station was on XM, it was available via internet. Over on Sirius now however, Channel 12 is available on the internet, so I cancelled my XM subscription and now going for Sirius for this reason.

FYI, it's now available on XM Online...if everyone already hasn't jumped over to the other side. :)

  3. I'll be working at our local polling place all day Tuesday, so I'll go in and vote when the line gets to a reasonable length... at least I hope it will at some point! :)

Hope the weather is good. Either way though, we're expecting a great turnout!

  4. Paula Poundstone last week at the Birchmere. I'd never seen her standup before...she's really funny. Lots of interaction with the audience which means she's going off the top of her head. And it works! I'm glad she could overcome the issues in her past and is able to go out and be this entertaining and funny.

  5. DON'T GO!! Call in sick. You are already going into it with a negative attitude, once you are there and reality sets in you will really sink to a new low. I couldn't imagine being around all those drunken Parrotheads. Many years ago I attended a Celine Dion concert just for the heck of it. My ticket was free. Once there I felt like such a loser.

Also, everybody who tells me, says GETTING to the Nissan Pavilion is a major pain.

Yeah... well it's too late now. My husband is a big fan. And the tickets are coming from a friend with a sick husband and she "really wants them to be used." Buffett's okay, and alcohol will certainly help... it's getting OUT of Nissan that worries me. I'm bringing the newspaper and a couple of magazines to pass the time...

And we'll have some Zep in the CD player in the car while we wait. :D

  6. Is that the Birchmere in the Northern Virginia area (Alexandria)? What a great place! Nice bar, and great food during the show. And the best seats for those who get there early!

One and the same! I've lived here all my life and never went until last year. Since then, I've seen Billy Bragg, Lyle Lovett and Ralph Stanley. It's a wonderful venue - I was kinda hoping Robert and Alison would play there although I know it's way too small.

  7. Just added to the schedule Robert Plant 24 Sept 2008 St Louis Got tickets to the lower balcony and as soon as the 25th go on sale I will get some better ones I hope. Will attend both nights.Staying at the Marriot unless someone knows of a better more convient spot.Plan to fly in but thats still in process.

also if anyone knows of any tourist type things to do in the area let Me know plan to be there for a week or so.

Go to a Cards game if they're in town. Also, the Bowling Hall of Fame is lots of fun. And I quite enjoyed the Arch.

You might also be able to take a tour of the Fabulous Fox, although I don't know if they do them on show days. It's wondrous!!

  8. Saw Robert and Alison on Friday night - an altogether fabulous night!!

Last night we saw Ralph Stanley at the Birchmere. A totally delightful evening. Ralph in black with his hand in his pocket through much of the evening like a mafia don overseeing his empire. The Clinch Mountain Boys were in fine form. If he comes through your town, you should go. He's 81 - you may not have many more chances.
