  1. Don't forget March of the Wooden Soldiers! This will be the first year in decades that we won't get a large live tree - we have an exuberant big puppy with a thrashing tail. And my wife has declared the spruce out front too tall for me to go up and put lights on anymore. Maybe we'll look into a table top tree also.
  2. Not that the Giants offense is anything yet, but the Lion's defense certainly looked stout yesterday. I had heard they give up a lot of points, and thought letting Hockenson go was a sign they had given up on the season. The TE they kept does look good though. Good luck in the future with them, you've certainly hung in there as a fan.
  3. So the Bills will play 2 games in a row in Detroit, but only 4 days apart and both should be winnable for them. I seem to recall you have a love/hate relationship with the Lions, what did you think of Stafford going to the Rams and making it look easy to win a S.B.?
  4. Hot Tuna, Paramount theater Huntington NY. These guys are 82!
  5. They still list that as one of the greatest Super Bowls, and sure we celebrated heavily - but I'd think fans in general would want to see an accomplishment decide the game? So it seems that Allen will play out the season with that arm issue?
  6. This one almost got Spock off of his 7 year cycle:
  7. This is exactly what I was speculating, just not sure what started the process of revisiting that ruling.
  8. I get all of that, it is tricky and also an uncomfortable subject. Just surprised at the sudden reversal, and no consideration of the circumstances. And now all the democrat ads blatantly saying the opposing candidate will allow no considerations of circumstances. The Supreme court decision seemed like a victory of sorts for the republicans initially, but I feel many of their candidates lost votes because of it this time around.
  9. O.K., I don't get into politics much... but was befuddled as to why the Supreme Court would overturn Roe vs. Wade, after so many decades, with church groups loosing influence more and more. Could it have been an intentional political move, to sway the majority toward voting democrat for most states - given most people generally concede to the woman's right to choose, and don't want more women needing the burden of child support. It wasn't an issue for voters before, but I can see where Republicans could loose a significant percentage of votes over this. Just a thought.
  10. Such will be the fate of all these women who perform sex shows during the Super Bowl halftime. But have no fear, Lizzo will likely be the headliner at one soon - so you won't have worry about seeing a boney ass...
  11. They are reinforcing the bluff and foundation of the lighthouse, to counter erosion and the receeding shoreline. I recall there was a proposal to actually move it, last time we visited. Originally commissioned by George Washington - that is just amazing to ponder. Did you hear that Allen has some sort of UCL issue - anything to do with his sombersault roll after that TD run?
  12. Yes, in Amangansett, on the way to Montauk. Supposedly a celebrity hangout, but nothing really fancy. There used to be one on the North Fork also, but that changed hands. My wife always enjoyed stopping there, good quality seafood. If you do visit the North Fork, you'll want to check out Claudios and the activities on the dock nearby.
  13. I think the days of digging your own clams are long gone, around here - but hey, everyone's lawns look nice. Greenport is near the North Fork tip - lots of decent restaurants, beaches, shops... not sure if you like B+Bs, they're certainly different than big hotels. Harbor Knoll is at a terrific location, Harbor Crest nice also. Big fancy breakfasts and cozy beds.
  14. You'll have to press Rick more on this question, he says a defender or two out made the difference.
  15. I obviously haven't been on these boards for ages - but you're a Dolphin fan, right? At least I know you're a Dolphin's cheerleader fan, for sure! Nice to see tight division races, it's been quite some time...
  16. We're on the South Shore of Suffolk, but close to the Nassau border. Much prefer visiting the North Shore fork, for it's ruralness, farmstands, and Bed and Breakfast places. South Shore fork is over-crowded, more expensive, and extremely snooty.
  17. We always got Giants and Jets, one at 1 pm and the other at 4pm, on Sundays. But weren't there nationally televised games also, for other areas who had only one local team - or even no local teams?
  18. Jets run blocking got pretty strong, later in the game against the Bills. Surprising win for them.
  19. I'm laughing at that clock - my dad had the same exact one hanging outside on the patio. I had to throw together a last minute costume decades ago, I saw a picture of Flavor Flav, and figured that would work. Had no idea who he was, or what rap even was.. but people had a laugh over it. Dad caught me later, trying to sneak in drunk and putting the clock back in place - that was a WTF are you doing moment?
