^ Samuel Smith products are soooo good, all of them. My wife's brother usually has their "Winter Welcome" for me, when we visit around the holidays. I do have to have them very cold, which I realize is not the way they are traditionally served. Hofbrau is also one of my favorites - especially the Dunkels. Just about any brand from Munich never disappoints.

And that's the difference between Cream and later Eric Clapton projects. So many people bitch about how Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker were pricks, yet also lament how boring Clapton became. It could have become the same for Hendrix, if had lived, but collaborated with less experimental musicians. The Experience was about the levels and direction that each musician went in, or at least aspired to.

I am to be able to quote other members and post videos, now. Something I couldn't do from this computer, before - so that's a big improvement. Things do seem to lock up for long periods when I do this, however. Is there a way to delete double posts, the edit feature doesn't have many options?

Why do so many great beers get "retired", crappy ones stick around, and "new" is deceptive or weird additions to them? That Terrapin sure is dark for an IPA - I would guess it's not as bitter as most. Another "retired" beer that I enjoyed the most of any American craft brew was Dock Street's Illuminator, out of Philly. Man, that was tasty!

^ ebk (Ester, I believe?), I did try that Coney Island Pilsner, yesterday. Honestly, it tasted like Sam Adams. Not a Pilsner, in my book. But I am not an American beer enthusiast, by any means. It pretty much has to be from Europe, preferably Germany or Belgium. Otherwise, I might as well just have Pabst Blue Ribbon. In saying that, the Terrapin beer's pour and color looks exquisite! Can't read the label, though - can you provide the style and your impressions?

^ If it makes you feel any better, the same thing happened to my friend - after he soldiered through a rough first day at a taxidermist factory. You didn't vomit in the shark jaw boiling tank, did you? Employers don't care for that.

^ I've actually seen this in the supermarket, and was thinking of trying it. I do like Pilsners, which are somewhat rare these days, and the darker look makes it all the more tempting. Only thing is - is it spiced up?

^ Any mention of Noel Redding always gets the same response - all about his attitude. But I don't see where it affected the Experience's output or performances. It affected Redding and his future, though. As a big Jack Casady fan, I'm very intrigued by the little stint he did with Hendrix in 1968. But I haven't found any videos of that - just interviews saying how great it was. If anyone knows of any, that would be great!

Noel Redding vs. Billy Cox? It didn't seem like Cox had the presence of Redding, in this last Atlanta show. I'm more familiar with Redding, like in the Monterey show. I know Cox knew Hendrix from a long way back, and Redding didn't like the controlled environment. But playing wise, I prefer Redding.

^ Showtime had this "Electric Church" documentary, from the Atlanta 1970 Pop Festival. I enjoyed most of it, once it got going. The first half hour was all short interviews, and not all the songs he performed were shown. I thought the soloing was fantastic, and probably the best version of the Star Spangled Banner that he's done (it was July 4th, and they had fireworks going off behind him).

I am loving this glitch that makes it look like the person quoting another member they disagree with is coming from their thoughts - at least 2 members seem to have suddenly gained some common sense!

^ Canadian beers don't seem to be stocked much around here, anymore. Maybe because the big conglomerates haven't bought many of them out, they don't get the benefits of mass distribution? I believe Labatt's fell into the hands of InBev, though. I used to prefer Moosehead, but haven't had one in decades.

Although it is definitely true that many purchased goods are not made to last long, there are factors besides inferior materials and engineering that control this. All this technology that everyone loves and think they need, is upgrading and getting more goodies to fit into a smaller package at a ridiculous rate - so why invest into something that you will pretty much discarding, once the next thing comes out? And many people, even the very young, seem to privileged to consider hand me downs of anything, these days.

Shiner Bock is pretty tasty, and goes down easy. It is very weak, however, to be called a Bock. Good summer beer.

^ I wouldn't care about what others are satisfied with, if my choices weren't compromised. But the little we can afford to go out for a dinner, the beer choices at many restaurants suck. Our village of Lindenhurst used to have at least three good German places, now we have one - Village Lantern, supposedly co-owned by Richie Blackmore. Thank god for that, at least. And I do often buy beer at the supermarket (to sneak it onto the charge card, rather than take money out of the bank) - but the degree that I have to lower my standards is highly irritating. The drug store has a better selection, actually.

^ I have to caution you, Cornelius - on the Leinenkugels. I've never seen anyone order one of these, and not send it back, saying there's something wrong with it. You seem to like assorted flavorings thrown into your beer, maybe to hide the poor quality - but most people enjoy better quality, without lemons and spices. Can I recommend Stella Artois, for a party? It's a fairly light Belguim beer, good for hot weather, that I've noticed everyone seems to enjoy. Becks is no longer brewed in Germany. It is another brand taken over by InBev, and the change in taste is very noticeable. The Stella that I recommended is also now InBev, but still tastes good. Yes, IPA's are generally very bitter. I don't get how popular they have become. I don't drink any of them, as I much prefer malty, dark beers. Hope this helps!

I would put both Page and Squire both in the top 3 for their instrument, and I'm sure there are polls that also support that. But a project that puts them together doesn't guarantee the result would be successful - and from what I heard on You-Tube, it wasn't. There's no doubt the groups you all are naming were and are still successful, and the musicians are all very good. I just tend to think that a dominant or improvisational bass player usually winds up with a less than stellar guitarist, and many top guitarists want a bass player to be more of a hold the line type of guy.

^ There's lots of sources for top this or that, and each one us would of course have our own - but generally speaking, can we say top tier is the 10 most voted for as greatest? So nope - I don't think anyone will come up with the combo I'm referring to.
