Vanilla Fudge has new album coming out
jimmie ray replied to jimmie ray's topic in Other Bands / Music
^Kind of ambitious to try to cover a whole album of Zep songs, and obviously not all covers work for anyone. Keep in mind that they're not trying to duplicate anyone's sound. I've had a laugh at some of the Dread Zeppelin videos posted here, enjoyed "Immigrant Song" by them. I consider Vanilla Fudge to be good musicians, though. -
"Some trouble in mind, Lawdy mama I'm blue, yeah, And I won't, I won't, I won't be blue, always Oh yeah, the sun's gon' shine, Sun gon' shine in my backdoor, Some ol' rainy day..." Love this song, and it's been covered by many of the best over the years!

Honestly, this sounds better than some of the live Zep that I've been exposed to. -
Vanilla Fudge has new album coming out

All but the last of these songs are from 1967. This is not a Live album from a Vanilla Fudge concert back in that year, it's a studio album put together very recently. I happen to enjoy groups that do covers, but realize it's not for everyone's taste. Carmine Appice is a well known drummer - I believe he also worked with Rod Stewart, and wrote songs such as "People Get Ready" and "If You Think I'm Sexy" (should be a favorite of anyone named Disco Duck?) When I saw this group a few years ago, they still had 3 of 4 original members, and the new bassist was rather good. They covered "Ticket to Ride" and Zep's "Rock and Roll". -

Looking forward to getting this new release by a very old band. Vanilla Fudge has always been known for heavy, psychedelic covers of popular songs. I saw them live a few years ago, and enjoyed it immensely. I believe the relatively unknown Led Zep opened for them many years ago, when they first toured the U.S... Vanilla Fudge: Spirit of 67 1 I Heard It Through The Grapevine 2. The Letter 3. I Can See For Miles 4. Break On Through (To The Other Side) 5. The Tracks Of My Tears 6. I m A Believer 7. Gimme Some Lovin 8. For What It s Worth 9. Ruby Tuesday 10. Whiter Shade Of Pale 11. Let s Pray For Peace What do you all think?

My only posting of a starlette from the 60's gets deleted, but an obviously innappropriately suggestive little girl picture is something to laugh off? You know what - FUCK THIS PLACE!

I'm sure anything like that would be well received. I can almost picture how many of the scenes would translate onto canvass. We do have a "Wolfman" here, if you chose something from the opening scene. And tomato splatter would be an awesome effect...

Oh man, I could beat this like the original scarecrow's horse (JPJ's secret equestrian practice sessions?) - but you're so with my plan, Steve, that those other 2 years are water well under the bridge. -

So the rib injury and filming of JPJ's fantasy sequence did both happen in '73. What if someone were savvy enough to mesh the Disney scarecrow footage into the No Quarter live footage, as he originally wished for? Surely, that would lure him to visit here, and share a bit? -
Virginia, your paintings seem to coincide with the garden's tomato season that is going on right now! I've been making different tomato salads all week. Have you ever done any Song Remains the Same fantasy sequence paintings, even just for your own experimentation (not particularly for sale)?

^ That's the same exact picture I remembered seeing in Playboy, when I was a teenager. I couldn't believe I found it, again. This was for Paul, BTW - regarding another thread. I didn't realize she had a face, until you commented - is that the thing above the magnificent funbags?

^ Only if you start leaving half finished drinks all over the place - then you might have a problem.

Scratchboard? Gotta love it - I have one (and a cowbell) mounted on my washtub bass. -

Obviously you're tight on dates and don't want silly speculation, here. I don't want to ruin what you guys take very seriously. It was a chance to show how Disney used to totally rock, back in the day. JPJ thought so! -
^ I hate when my wife wants to take a picture at a party, and makes everyone put down their drinks - and sometimes even demands we clear off the table of all bottles. Get the pictures over with, before we're all relaxed!

^ How could anyone not? Unless of course, they have a telephone pole up their ass... Could the rib injury have been from horseback riding? -

That's no excuse to cancel a show. Couldn't they have just had JPJ valet park all those cars up the street? -
Had lots of family meet today, at a local seafood place that has shows on the dock. "Half Step" was the band, and I just had to get up for two of the medleys: Me and My Uncle / Walkin' Blues / Cumberland Blues, and China Cat / Goin' Down the Road. What a hoot!!!
