  1. I would suggest Fleet Foxes' label mates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imaCBk0Bz4s, or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXU12uCoW3U. Another band that I really like, which in some ways have that kind of sound is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNdyenwmLYo, I especially recommend their latest album "New Seasons". Here's another Sadies tune called which shows they really rock too!
  2. That smiley looks like me when I found all those great CD's!!
  3. Cont. John Mayall - Thru' The Years (1971) Townes Van Zandt - Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas (1977) Savoy Brown - Getting To The Point (1968)
  4. I went on a shopping spree on my lunch hour and got a couple of cheap CD's.. Got to have some music to listen to while working. Some of 'em I've already got on LP, and others I've been thinking of buying and one or two was just on the spur of the moment. Anyway, this is what I got: The Golden Smog - Weird Tales (1998) The Jayhawks - Tomorrow The Green Grass (1994) The Who - Who's Next (Deluxe Edition) (1971/2003) Dokken - Back For The Attack (1987)
  5. Good stuff! If you like it you have to check out Decoration Day as well! I've purchased a couple of blues and r'n'b 45's: Slim Harpo - Shake your hips / Midnight blues (1966) Excello Slim Harpo - Buzz me babe / Late last night (1959/60) Excello Jerry McCain & His Upstarts - Listen young girls / Bad Credit (1957) Excello Bobby King - W.A.S.T.E.D. / What a day what a night (1964) Federal Garnet Mimms* - Prove it to me / I'll take good care of you (1966) United Artists *on a sidenote, Led Zeppelin used to cover Garnet's As Long As I Have You. Garnet Mimms - Prove it to me on youtube, great track!!
  6. Two CD's: I've already got this one on vinyl, but as I am away from my turntable and vinyl collection I need to bunker up with some CD's. Plus, this CD is remastered and includes eight bonus tracks!! Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady I also found this great compilation of one of my favourite girl groups of the 60's: The Shangri-Las - The Best of The Shangri-Las
  7. Thanks! Hell, only 5€, that's nothing! I've seen bidders pay $25 for that single.
  8. Damn, I've been looking for that single. Great find!
  9. Mee too. I can spend HOURS there.. Great purchases! Animalism is one hell of a great record!
  10. Wow, I had no idea. Thanks for the info. Sounds like cool stuff.
  11. Thanks man, I'll have to check 'em records out!
  12. I can't recall I've ever heard of them.
  13. They've had a couple of songs streaming at The Sadies myspace for a while too. I got somewhat a bit disapointed as John Doe's voice didn't really appeal to me. I would much rather have heard the songs with only The Sadies.. LOL
  14. I finally got my hands on an original pressing of Gilded Palace Of Sin with The Flying Burrito Brothers. I love this record! Another record, which I already got the original LP, but have been thinking of getting on CD due to the bonus tracks is Sweetheart Of The Rodeo by The Byrds. Finally I have purchased it too. The bonus tracks are a treat, with Gram Parsons on vocals, as it originally intended to be.
  15. Regarding Drive-By Truckers, my favourites are Decoration Day and The Dirty South, which has a great number of songs on them. I would also recomend their latest album Brighter Than Creation's Dark, which is an amazing set of songs as well. I have only heard clips of the earlier stuff, but what little I've heard it sounds great, and I will eventually get those albums myself too. Another album that should be interesting for anyone into steel guitars and rock'n'roll, is New Seasons by The Sadies. They mix their country with everything between psychedelia to rock-a-billy. I assure you it's a great album!
  16. LOL I actually think there is another book with the same title, now when I am checking it out. However, it is written by Mike Leadbitter and was first published in 1970 (or '71). It contains articles by different blues enthuiasts (sp?) such as Henry Vestine and others. The book cover the best articles they wrote for the fanzine Blues Unlimited between 1963 and 1970. A lot of the articles are interviews with blues artists. This is how the original cover of the book looks like. The one I found was a worn copy of the first printing. Anyway, it seems like a really interesting book!
  17. You got me looking for these books, and during last weekend I found a copy of Nothing But The Blues, with articles from the Blues Unlimited fanzine/magazine. I've read a couple of pages and it sure seems like a great read. Thanks for the tip.
  18. Regarding New Riders Of The Purple Sage, I can highly recomend N.R.P.S., Gypsy Cowboy and Powerglide. Those is the albums I have, their three first LP's. I believe their fourth album, The Adventures of Panama Red should be a great find too. Like Jahfin said, if you're a fan of The Flying Burrito Brothers and the likes, you probably find these guys great too. On topic again: I have purchased some cheap CD's: Ryan Adams - Heartbreaker (2000) Finally got this album.. November - 6e November (1972) Great Swedish hard rock, similar to Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath and those early heavy groups. This was Novembers third and last album. The original LP is quite rare, but this CD which was released in 2005 is a great substitute with all the bonus material and the booklet. The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan (2005) Finally got this one too. I think it's the best album they've recorded.
  19. I went to Glasgow's Rhythm and Blues Festival this weekend. Among the different bands I saw was The Bottleneckers which was really great!
  20. I'm having it shipped to Sweden from the eBay seller in the states so I won't get my hands on it until next weekend when I go home to Sweden for a couple of days. I've heard some of the tracks though, which I really like. It will be great to listen to them all when I get home. I hate being part of my record collection, I don't understand how you can cope with being without yours, Jahfin!! I have heard the Firewood album and it sounds great, but I don't have it myself (yet). Many say it's their strongest album. Can't recall if I have listened to Graveyard, but I know them by name. I will have to check them out again. BTW, how's this for a promo picture, shot for the Firewood album?? I haven't seen it since the release of Firewood and had to do a great search to find it on the net. Pretty sick and cool LOL.
  21. ^^ LOL, I see that you've already mentioned The Complete Blue Horizon Sessions in this thread. Anyway, it is A GREAT BOX SET! I love it!!
  22. I saw them in '98 and I loved it. Of course, it's nothing near to have seen the original band, but Gary, Billy and Leon was there and Hughie from The Outlaws was just as great too. How could I not love hearing On The Hunt live and it couldn't possible have sounded more like the original band, well maybe if Artie and Ed would've been on the stage too. But concidering my age and location it was the "next best thing". I don't feel the urge to see them again though, I rather live with the memories I have of that particular show. I Need You is one of my fav Skynyrd tunes too!! It's brilliant in every way!
