I think among hardcore fans, this is one of the most beloved shows out there so not sure it's underrated? But I'm with you - this and Blueberry Hill are my go-to's for 1970.

100%! LOVE just about anything from 1970. What a time to be touring the USA. War raging in Viet Nam, Beatles, Hendrix, Janis, Kent State, Hippies, Protests, Black Panthers, and then band played on.....

  2. Wasn't sure where to put this, but here seems as good as place as any. I'm not familiar with Beth Hart, but will be checking this out later tonight. Track list looks interesting and is spread over two orange vinyl LP's. The record is to be released 25 Feb 2022. Enjoy!

I can only imagine what this tune would have sounded like live on the 80-81' NA tour had Jimmy gotten clean and Bonzo not passed away. I can guarantee the guitar would have been front and center along with Robert's vocals.

The brings to mind a question. Who was the guy or team responsible for their live sound during their tours. Was it just a steady crew of Showco guys or did they use somebody regularly like Eddie Kramer or something? I honestly don't know who was behind the board during the gigs.

  4. It had to be a pretty cool feeling for a teenager to seek out and obtain something like a bootleg in the early 1970's. In the 1980's, when and where I got mine they were really common place. Could only imagine what it was like in 1970-something to go to the record/head shop and get a new Zeppelin LP and then tell the tale to your friends.

  5. Bonzo died when I was in 7th grade. I was aware of Zeppelin, but didn't really get into them until after Bonzo's passing. All the older kids took it really really hard, and that left me with an impression. I was really into them after that. Two years later Plant releases Pictures At Eleven and it's my very first concert. No opening act and it's at the Rosemont Horizon, just outside Chicago, Illinois. He opened with In The Mood and the place went nuts.

Saw him two more times over the years and can't wait for the shows with Alison Krauss. Oh, I also saw Page with The Firm at the same venue in 1984? Plant left the better impression. All I remember from The Firm show was people peeing in the sinks in the bathrooms and the lazer pyramid.

Steve Dahl was the DJ responsible for Disco Demolition Day at Comiskey.  The White Sox doubleheader was against the Tigers, and I still remember the Tigers' announcers, Hall of Famers George Kell & Al Kaline being totally outraged at the proceedings.  Dahl left Detroit radio for Chicago and left us with Howard Stern.

Cool to her someone from Detroit comment on this. Growing up in Chicago in the 1980's Steve Dahl was a HUGE radio presence. I was a regular Dahl listener until I moved to Phoenix, just about a year ago.
