I'm new here, but I joined on a mission!

Okay, I joined this site because I am on a desperate search for any knowledge on an item I possess.

It is a bent 'merge' road sign, signed by both Jimmy Page and David Coverdale. My mother won it in a 98-Rocks Radio Station contest in 1993.(In Louisiana) The station said one was sent to the biggest classic rock station in each state, and as far as they know, the other stations kept them. (The sign came with a 90 degree curve in the middle of it.)

We may consider selling this sign, depending on it's worth, being pretty big jimmy page fans makes us not want too. xD

But any information anyone has on a value of it, or the rarity of it would be great. If we have a valuable piece of music history here, we'ed like to know. xD

I presume it's made of thick cardboard? If so it's a promotional item produced by Geffen Records to promote the March 1993 release of the Coverdale/Page album. Hadn't heard of one being sent to the biggest classic rock station in each state but I suppose it's plausible and if correct then there are at least 50 in circulation. I've seen them offered on ebay for $150 - $250.

No, it's aluminum I believe. (Or some other non-magnetic metal) It's the size of an actual street sign.

I'm having trouble with my webcam working. >.<

I inspected the sign more. It's over 40 inches from corner to corner(though it came bent, so it can stand up on it's on) It also has a sticker with

"Maneri Sign

Gardena CA

93"

written on it. (on the back)

It also has holes in it where a sign would traditionally have holes (about two inches from the tip of the arrow for the top one)

I will work on getting a picture somehow, digital cameras never last very long in this house, so that may not be the easiest task.

If the signatures (let alone the story) are authentic (and I have serious doubts!) I'm interested in acquiring this item for my archive.

Maneri Sign is a reputable manufacturer of street signage but I'm unaware of Geffen Records ever having commissioned them:

We can contact the radio station she won it from, and see about getting a certificate of authenticity, they offered to give us one for it if we ever wanted one.

I can say the signatures are real (I've compared them to the real thing, if they are fakes, they are more realistic then any I've ever seen), and it is a 'real' sign, but I can't say how true the story behind it is.

Nothing personal but while it's true you can say anything - indeed have - you haven't provided any substantiation of your claim. I'd like to see a photograph of this item, front and back, and the signatures. Help us help you.

Digital cameras are a cinch to use -- it's as easy as wiping your butt.

He still would need the chord and software to put on his pc( or he could download the software for free most likely but still must have the chord and knowledge of how to do it). . Perhaps he should contact Sam, he may know about what it may be worth? He is the site administrator and has a very good knowledge of any Zeppelin merchendise.

Sam reads posts to the forum as well. I don't see this as a question of worth, rather if the item really exists in the first place.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I understand there is only so much you can tell me without the pictures. I'll ask someone to let me borrow their camera, I'll hopefully have some pictures up by tomorrow. I use to have some, but I recently moved and they got lost. (They where older pictures, not just digital pictures)

Electrophile: Not if you don't have a working one. xP

SilverMedalists: If it won't be a pain in the ass, I may ask him. If I get no answers of course. And after I get pictures.

Okay, I asked my cousin (whom lives with me) and he has a working camera (kinda) it's a piece of shit though. I managed to get some decent pictures of the sign, but it made every tiny bit of dirt on it look like a horrible stain.

It's not very clean, but all the crap on it is just dirt and gunk that can be cleaned off. The sign is 8 or so years old, and has been in storage most of that time.

Well, I've never seen anything like it before. Clearly it was designed to be displayed standing up as a promotional item as opposed to mounted on a roadside pole. I've ascertained the manufacturer in Gardena, CA is legitamate but have yet to receive confirmation that they were commissioned by Geffen Records to produce them. The radio station contest story sounds plausible but also remains unconfirmed. The autographs appear to be authentic. I must say it's a real shame this item wasn't stored properly as the damage (scratching, rusting, discoloration) significantly reduces it's potential value. Even so, very unique discovery!

Thanks for taking the time to post those photos.

The damage is not near as bad as it looks in the pictures. The camera had a really bright flash, I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. It is certainly not in as good of condition as I would like though.

It's good to at least get a little info on it though, thanks. I'll try cleaning it up a little, if it'll be worth while.
