  1. Obscured By Clouds is one of their greatest works and IMO, one of their most underrated albums. People always talk about Dark Side or WYWH or Animals or The Wall, and three of those four albums are indeed legendary, but OBC is just as good and stands up just as well. "Burning Bridges" is in my all-time Top 5 Pink Floyd songs list. It's that good.
  2. You know, I started this thread almost 12 years ago now, and it's still going strong, some 1200 pages later. I guess I should make my first post in almost 4 years a doozy, so here we go — Come Away With Me — Norah Jones

  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUhjfo4-SvI&hd=1 This is the best version of the song ever recorded, hands down. It's so sublime, so lush.....I'd probably run out of adjectives before I felt I'd described it properly.
  5. I've never liked the word sloppy unless the word "joe" immediately followed it. Page wasn't sloppy, and to say that he was is to somehow imply that he was willfully lax in his playing or otherwise chose to play like sh!t, and that just seems like a stupid thing to say.
  6. Sounds pretty good to me. I've been looking forward to this album since I first heard news he was recording it. As much as I loved On an Island, I hope it's something totally and completely different to it. He's so talented, so it would be a shame to essentially repeat himself when he doesn't need to.
  7. Speaking of Mr. Koufax, here he is, in uniform, at the Old Timer's game. That's swagger. That's "I know I'm a god" body language. I'd give anything for a time machine so I could go back and watch him pitch.
  8. It's Old-Timers Day at Dodger Stadium today, and before all the festivities kicked off, there was a luncheon for the players and the members of the 1965 World Series championship team, and it was great to see that Sandy Koufax was there.
  9. She Talks to Angels — The Black Crowes
  10. Nothing at the moment, but for dinner later, it'll be chicken kiev and brown rice. The brown rice is because chicken kiev isn't the healthiest thing out there, what with all the butter that's in the middle. I haven't had one in years, so I'm looking forward to it.
  11. Thanks. It's one of my favorite songs as well, which is why I put that lyric in my signature. The first time I ever heard that song on the radio, it made me sit up and take notice; I liked the message that was being said with it, the story that was being told. Probably because we've all been there ourselves at least once, I think, if not with a lover than with a friend or a family member.
  12. I like ELO! I'm not super familiar with their entire discography, but Turn To Stone and Don't Bring Me Down are probably my two favorite songs of theirs.
  13. What a loss. One of my favorite guitarists, regardless of the genre. Others in the thread have already posted the song, so I won't go for the trifecta, but The Thrill Is Gone is probably in my all-time Top 10 songs, and I've been playing several versions of it this morning. Death makes no distinction, but at least the great cosmic rock band has another kick-ass guitarist to take over when Jimi has to use the bathroom or something.
  14. My dad was going through his record collection the other day and found a copy of Are You Experienced, still in shrink wrap. Just the side had been removed to get the sleeve out, but otherwise, it was just like it was in the record store when he bought it. We put it on his turntable, and let me tell you....Purple Haze sounds really, REALLY good coming out of two huge cabinet speakers.
  15. LZ III and Presence for me were always duds. The others all at least had something else going on that made them interesting, but neither of those two ever really stood out to me as anything all that great. :-\
  16. I have to admit, I find it humorous when people ask where they can find bootlegs, regardless of what band they're interested in listening to. When I started collecting Pink Floyd bootlegs, half the fun was scouring the Internet looking for them. I didn't ask anyone to get them for me or tell me where to find them. I don't know, maybe it's me.
  17. Well, to be fair, you phrased the title of the thread "Is Rock Music Increasingly Being Marketed Toward White Men," which is a valid question and could probably be an interesting thread of conversation, then opened it up with a rant about why you didn't agree with how this particular band's music was being sold to you, considering you're not the probable demographic for it. None of it read, to me anyway, like you were just being funny and cracking a joke.
