There was an interesting interview with Sir Patrick Moore back in 2009 when they played rock music (Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Muse, etc) mixed with questions about the universe. Moore responded with "To my ear, all these songs are universally awful." :)

Another good guy gone.

sorry to say I did not know about him but I respect anyone that devotes so much time to this area of knowledge. I am sure he was familiar with Seeds and his books on Astronomy. I see that Pink Floyd was mentioned in the arcticle. Their music was perfect for gazing at the stars. The local planetarium had many shows and Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon was always played.

One of my ex girlfriends had a thing about him, this was back in 1986 so he would have been 63 then and she was about 22 i think, at first I thought she was having me on but i think it was for real because after a while I noticed that we only ever had sex on nights when we had just seen him on The Sky At Night, which used to be the last or one of the last shows before telly closedown back then. But it could have been worse, at least she didnt have the hots for that prattling monkish weirdo on The Big Question lol, in fact i think she even yelled 'oh PATRICK!!!' a couple of times, normally this would unsettle me but he was a lot older than me so i wasnt jealous, anyway i would have forgiven her anything because she was pure dynamite in the sack
