Stairway to heaven and cover image

Recommended Posts

Led Zeppelin has nothing to do with that image, nor is that image linked to the song "Stairway to Heaven" in any official capacity.

It looks like one of those treacly pieces by Thomas Kincaide, an artist Led Zeppelin had nothing to do with. That piece was created long after "Stairway" came out, and if the artist titled it "Stairway to Heaven" that was his own doing and in no way makes it the official image of the song.

Personally, the image I connect with the song "Stairway to Heaven" is the inside artwork of Led Zeppelin IV when you open the double-gated cover.

There actually is a Stairway to Heaven album...

And a bootleg (this is the most appropriate version for this thread):

It was also issued as a 12" single in Brazil in 1988:

The promo sleeve is kind of bland; the back has a b&w pic of the 4th LP:

I would say the only 'authentic' image is in the listener's mind.

Yes, but is normal that the listener's mind connect the song at external influence... Listening this song always on youtube, I m sure that many person connect this song at the image that i posted..

But listening the song in the complet album is also posible that the cover image and the eremith, becomes "the image"!
