Strider Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 It's nearly a week later and I am still trying to wrap my mind around the Flaming Lips/Tame Impala extravaganza that rolled thru town...and yes, 'extravaganza' is the word for what went down at the Greek Theatre the night of October 29, 2013. But if a picture is worth a thousand words, then better I show rather than tell. And that was just the first song of the set. Quote
Strider Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Did White Denim open? And how were they? White Denim was the first band, but due to the confluence of having to work that day and Arcade Fire's rooftop concert in Hollywood, I was caught in a traffic snarl and missed White Denim's set. I arrived at the Greek just as they finished playing. Tame Impala played from 8-9:11pm. The Flaming Lips from 9:47-11:05pm. Quote

Strider Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 ^^^ You're welcome. Yes, it was...as it always is when it involves the Lips. One of the best live bands of the past 30 years. From when I first saw them with the Butthole Surfers in the 80s to last week, they have always been a multi-sensory delight. What you missed! Fantastic energy and chops! Since I knew Jeff Tweedy was producing their album, I got "Corsicana Lemonade" upon release, and while I missed their opening set at the Greek, I did catch them the next day at Amoeba. Quote
