Detigers09
I was just listening to Howlin' Wolf's "Shake For Me," and I realized it is the only other song I've heard with the lyrics "Shakes just like a willow tree," besides "The Girl I Love." Does anyone know if Zeppelin took those lyrics from that song?
NickZepp
It's a cover of a Sleepy John Estes song.
swandown
The "Shakes like a willow tree" line can also be found in the Jeff Beck Group's "Let Me Love You" (from their debut album). NickZepp
Sunshine Woman also had that line also.
Humbucker
Rory Gallagher sings the line in Catfish (Live Taste), but it seems the lyric is a mish-mash of various songs, and not just confined to the Skip James version. RB
Detigers09
It's a cover of a Sleepy John Estes song. Exactly...and that line is not found in Sleepy John Estes' original version. That's why I was thinking they just took it out of Howlin' Wolf's lyrics.

"Everyone gets it from someone" Haha, well everything's gotta start from somewhere...and Howlin' Wolf has been the inspiration for a lot. Although he did take a lot from Willie Dixon. Mrs. Wisty
It's a cover of a Sleepy John Estes song. Mm, I was listening to my SJE album today. They also turned Drop Down Mama into Custard Pie...not directing that at you tho', NickZepp, cos I'm sure you already knew. I just like dropping the names of blues artists....
