Otto Masson
Here in the U.S., I tend to think that some people are interested to the point of obsession in stuff like that because of the Puritanical views on sex held by certain people here. Are Icelanders as interested in "star sex"? I had meant to reply to this, and then forgot it. Actually I don't really know, but it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if many were interested in that kind of thing. I would guess though that this phenomenon is also related to a general development in the star/media relationship: increasingly the coverage concerns just about everything but the specialty that made the star in the first place. I can be as interested in stars as the next person, but I tend to be more interested in musicians as musicians, and actors as actors, etc. (OK, I think some actresses are stunning, but still). As for lovemaking, the next person may actually be a much better lover than the big star. This star sex obsession is beyond my comprehension - and I'm certainly not at all puritanical. Just find it uninteresting.

Just find it uninteresting. No problem. Thanks for your interesting response. Some media here in the U.S. (especially the tabloids) seem to feed sex-obsessed fans a steady diet of the more salacious aspects of stars' lives. I completely agree with you about being interested in musicians for their music and actors for their acting so the obsession with the lovemaking prowess of stars is also beyond my comprehension. When I used the word puritanical, I was wondering if people who felt constrained in some way in their own lives by puritanical mores were more likely to be obsessed with the sex lives of stars. Well, it seems that the Hendrix tape has been branded a fake. I'm sure that, before long, another tape purporting to feature yet another star, will be unearthed.
