The most obvious being some guitars are heavy, for heavy ones I like a wide strap with some padding stitched in. Another thing is guitars that have real lacquer finishes, plastics, vinyl and leather have chemicals that degrade lacquer and can damage the finish. Not many guitars are truly 100% lacquer these days, many that claim to be usually have some poly on it. I had a Thin Skin Fender that was lacquer finished and it was easy to mar.
