  1. I had an MMR vaccine this morning :( thing is I have a phoebia of saringes so it wasn't very nice for me, and what's worse is that I have to have another vaccine in 2 weeks, can't remember what for. :(

Ouch!!! I hate shot's!! I'm glad I was to young to remember all the immunization's I got when I was a baby. I did get the Chicken Pock's as an adult in the mid 1990's :chickeddance: , what a sight I was! 30 some years old and the Chicken Pock's....Ha Ha!

Hope it's not to bad for ya Jimmy's A Legend. :console2:

  2. The part's I ordered for one of my digital recorder's came in about an hour ago, let's just hope it goes back together and I get it back to working again!

Oh.....$%#@!!!! I meant to put this in the "What made you happy today thread!!!!

  3. He was just some kid looking through the window, i don't think he had any idea what was going on or who Jimmy was.

I think he recognised me though.

Yeah, it reminded me of some of the photo's on the "In Through the Out Door" disc.

  4. No harm in starting a little early in case I don't get here tomorrow - it's just about beer o' clock over here, so I will raise a glass and wish you all well. :) Enjoy your celebrations.

Thank's Knebby and to all the others who are not American's thank's to you to... and to the good old US of A'ers happy birthday America!!!

    :birthday:

PS I gave up parting over two years ago but ... carry on...:toast:

  5. Wow!!! So many great looking woman in here! :veryhot: I hope I get some nice looker's like you ladies at my show tomorrow night in Chapel Hill, always did like singing/playing the acoustic guitar for an attractive girl or two, or three.......

  6. A power attenuator is a must. I use a THD Hot Plate on mine. I taught lessons with it for years and still use it at home for practice and recording. I may not gig anymore but I refuse to compromise on tone.

Ah...! yes! I forgot about those little gem's! I use to know a guy who had a "Power Soak", Tom Scholz made. He was using it with a JCM 800 100 watt and a "A" cab (1960 maybe), not sure what speakers where in it (G1275?). He did get a "Power Break" to but I don't know much about that device.

  7. Haha, yeah, I don't think I'd want to eat there on a regular basis. I love going there when I'm in your neck of the woods for the characters that show up, but the food...it's good for the price, hehe. Although I still think it's better than Denny's.

The one's I would go to on my own account where the ones that where still new, after a few years when all the old grease from the grill started piling up it became a hang out for crack head's and so forth. I think if I had my pick I'd go to the IHOP.

In my years of stage production I really had little say so on the pick of restaurant's for the evening, we all road together and where ever we stopped was where we ate! Some show's when I was only dropping off or doing a small stage and was alone for the day I would go to a nicer place. If there was anything open at the hour I got everything packed up and back on the road, if I could spare a few extra buck for something good for me, I would. We would only get about $25.00 a day for per-diem pay and most of the time the boss would just say meet me at the venue or we'll figure out where we will eat later. I can't complain to much though as most of the bosses I worked for where really cool guy's to have to share the front set of a truck with.

  8. I have yet to find a master volume amp that sounds and responds like a non-master volume amp. That said, I would start by turning the master volume all the way up and then adjust the gain to suit my tastes. Then, when I'd had enough, I'd sell my amp and buy a Plexi. :D

He He, that sound like a good plan GP. One of the reply's at the site from the link I provided earlier said, "you don't want a Super Lead unless your playing in large clubs and have the need/ability to max it out!"

Also, the other link explains some major cap differences in the two amp's (Super Lead and Master Head), being the dark sound that was talked about.

  9. Not quite sure I understand you. The KT88s boosted output from 100 to 200 watts. That would give the amp more headroom and less breakup, thus some mods must have been done to the preamp to give it a bit more hair.

Also not sure why you use the term Master Volume. The Super Lead had only six knobs: Presence, Bass, Mids, Treble, and a Loudness for High Treble and Normal input. There was no "Master" volume as there was no "Gain" setting. This amp did not derive its crunch from preamp tube saturation as in a "Master" volume amp. There was no "overdrive". Any crunch was derived from pure outrageous volume settings and genuine power tube breakup, and the fact that he upped it to KT88s would dictate outrageous volume levels. Now that could be offset by running less speakers, but then you'd be blowing them left and right. Now one could surmise that's why he had 4 4x12s on the stage, but he only mic'd the upper right speaker of his stacked cab.

Yes, that is what we are both saying here, The K88's are giving more wattage so you get a cleaner sound at lower level's until you get to peak out put. That's why (IMHO) the higher sensitivity speakers would sound best with so much headroom and not a bunch of squashed (mud) sound.

In short this amplifier was designed to be run wide open! Yes?

OK, let me try again, if I was trying two amp's, one a "Super Lead" with out a "Gain" (main) just a Loudness (volume) knob and also a regular Marshall with both a "Master" and a "Gain" knob and I want to get a close (as I can get) sound of the "Super Lead" from the "Master Head". Being that the "Master Head" has an extra gain stage if I ran it's Master knob at (or close to) the top could I get a close copy of the "Super Lead's" gain structure? I would think it would be close as long as the "Main" gain circuit's are near the same, that is if they just slapped in an extra gain stage for the newer "Master Head".

Don't know if Jimmy's was a 1959 or not but here's some info on the 59" Super Lead...

Some good info on the difference between the Marshall head's....

  10. Obama just went to the wrong place, that's all - the smart people are at the Waffle House! :D

Oh man!!! I used to go to the "Awful House" on a regular basis when I was on the road doing stage production from 1998-2002! I liked it before 1998.
