  1. Today I spent the whole day in Kotka and Hamina, which are coastal towns about 100 kilometres away from where I live. My first destination was Haukkavuori observation tower in Kotka: View over the city centre of Kotka:
  2. Thank you, Walter. Finnish summer is short but beautiful. Yesterday I was watching track & field at the local stadium. Here's some pictures from there. Antti Ruuskanen is one of the best javelin throwers in the world right now. He's European champion from last year and has Olympic bronze from London 2012: Minna Nikkanen made a new Finnish record 455 in pole vault:
  3. Hamilton was right behind the safety car when he pitted and the others were cathing up. It is possible that he lost lots of time at that point. Later Vettel was complaining that the safety car was driving too slowly. Also Hamiltons stop took over 4 seconds when it usually takes under 3 seconds so the team made another mistake there.
  4. As harsh as it may sound, when you get a change in racing, you take it. Nice guys won't make it in F1, just think about all the stuff Schumacher, Senna, Prost etc. have done. If it had been only Rosberg ahead of Hamilton the team probably would have ordered him to let Lewis pass, but Vettel had no reason whatsoever to do that. And in the post-race interview Rosberg admitted that he was lucky and Hamilton would have deserved to win. I agree he can be pretty arrogant (as can all the other drivers), but in my opinion he did nothing wrong this time.
  5. It's the people who made the decision to pit Hamilton behind the safety car who should be ashamed. It wasn't Rosbergs fault.
  6. Third win in a row in Monaco for Nico Rosberg. Hamilton must be pretty disappointed right now...
  7. Monaco is a crazy track! Here's clip from the 2010 Senna-documentary. That film is definitely worth watching for any racing fan. Here's also link to Grand Prix Drivers' Associations fan survey. Help develop the sport by giving your opinions: http://gpda.motorsport.com/
  8. Rosberg dominated the F1 qualifying today. Is he finally waking up?
  9. Wow, that is awesome! Congratulations!
  10. Thanks Charles. I like your photos, especially the ones with ships, railroads and cranes. Black & white is somehow very fitting for stuff like that.
  11. Couple of places I visited today. Myllykoski rapids in Ruokolahti: Rakokivi is a huge rock which has cracked in half. The crack is big enough to walk through:
  12. Pulsatilla vernalis is one of the first flowers of spring. It's also the regional flower of South Karelia, the area where I live.
  13. Another one from The Simpsons, from the episode where Homer becomes a bass player: "I feel powerful connection to the history of famous bass players like what's-his-name from The Who or that guy from Led Zeppelin who wasn't Page, Plant or Bonham." Poor JPJ
  14. Great race Kimi! Second place and 41st fastest lap of his career. Only Michael Schumacher has more fastest laps than him. Good race by Bottas, too.
  15. I'm liking what I've seen so far
  16. Changed summer tires and a back shock absorber to my car. I'm going to change the other one next weekend.
  17. Hamilton on pole again in Bahrain. Behind him Vettel, Rosberg and Räikkönen are separated by only couple of tenhts.
  18. More photos from last year. The narrow streets of Old Porvoo: From Helsinki. There's Canadian embassy in the closest building in the first photo. If you look closely you can see the flag:
  19. Heres some pictures from the archives. Imatrankoski rapids in April 2014: The famous jugend style hotel of Imatra: The Silent People in Suomussalmi:
  20. Great race in Malaysia today! First victory for Vettel since 2013 and a good recovery from Räikkönen after a horrible start. Looks like Ferrari can really challenge Mercedes this season. I was also pleased by the beautiful overtake by Bottas at the end of the race.
  21. The good thing is they didn't get a penalty for unsafe release.
