  1. I'm the same way. There may be some artists out there who's music I don't particularly care but that doesn't mean I hate them. As I've mentioned, I'm also no fan of rap but if people think of ways to ingeniously work it into their music, I have no problem with that whatsoever. Am I supposed to hate Roll the Bones just because Rush makes a nod to rap during it? Hell nah.
  2. He supposedly pulled his dick out at a show, I think that's what someone asking but I don't think the previous post makes that clear. I don't know for sure but I don't think it's ever actually be known whether he did or not. Even in the Doors movie they kinda skirted around it and never made it clear. Maybe because no one really knows for sure.
  3. Anyone seen the movie Once yet which is set in Dublin, Ireland? If not, there's a priceless scene that alludes to Thin Lizzy that takes place in front of the statue of Phil.
  4. I'm pretty sure folks felt the same way about the hippies and any radical change in fashion but none of that is my point. I'm referring to the way diverse musical styles (including rap) have been fused over the years. If there were no such innovations or pioneering in music it would remain stagnant and pretty unexciting to listen to. I never thought I would ever care for scratching but the way the North Mississippi All-Stars do it, it doesn't bother me at all. Plant has also used elements of trance and trip hop in his work with The Strange Sensation (influenced by Portishead, no doubt). It's that sort of thing that keeps me coming back and forever interested in music. Having a closed mind about rap (or any other type of music) would get me nowhere.
  5. So, what if it does? All genres of music eventually cross paths, it's only natural. Should country and blues have never merged? If not, we wouldn't have rock n' roll. I don't think the Stones (or any artist for that matter) incorporating rap or hip hop into their sound is nearly as sinister as you make it out to be. Sure, some may be better at than others but that doesn't mean it's purely about sales. As I mentioned, incorporating other styles of music into their sound is something the Stones have done all along.
  6. How is incorparating bits of rap and hip hop in one's music considered "low"? Lots of artists outside of rap and hip hop have done it, oftentimes to great effect. By the same token, when rap and hip hop artists incorporate bits of rock (as well other styles) into their music, is that also considered "low"?
  7. Can't say I ever noticed that. If they indeed did do something like that to "cash in on that audience" did they also do the same thing when they made forays into country, disco, reggae, r & b and other styles they've explored over the years? If so, would Led Zeppelin (or any artist for that matter) also be guilty of the same ting?
  8. What on A Bigger Bang sounds like hip-hop or rap?
  9. You would be right. Contrary to popular belief, run ins with the law aren't unique to rap stars.
  10. Maybe it's her time of the month?
  11. Where am I always swearing at people in my posts? As for my avatar it isn't directed at anyone. I'm a Johnny Cash fan. It's a simple as that. Not a single one of the articles I've posted came from allmusic.com. It's also not like all I do is cut and paste articles, I also contribute to threads. You can't seem to stop bitching about everything and are constantly baiting fellow members in your posts. If the moderators thought the posting of articles was a problem they would have done something about it long ago. Checked the Zep related forums at all? Most of them are full of articles posted by Steve A. Jones. They are also full of articles contributed by Pagemiester and others. Perhaps you'd be better off changing your screen name to the much more appropriate "Jethro Troll" because that's exactly what you are, a "troll". You have absolutely nothing positive to contribute to this forum and have done nothing but been antagonistic to your fellow members since arriving here. If you don't like how things are here I suggest you either find another forum more to your liking or start your own.
  12. If there's anyone here attempting to force their own rules on people, it's YOU. Show a little respect and put a lid on it already.
  13. The fact of the matter is, there was already a thread for Deep Purple. Same as there was already a topic for Aerosmith and others. eagle87 obviously didn't take the time to Search for previous topics before starting a new one despite being very politely told about the Search feature and how it is considered courteous to other members not to have multiple threads on the same subject. I post articles here. So does Pagemeister, Steve A. Jones and a number of other members. Hell you just posted one the other day yourself. I have been a member of this board since 2003. If posting articles was a problem with the owner then it would have been brought to our attention a very long time ago. Not to mention, who are you to suggest what interests board members? Go to any board and you'll see plenty of concert and what's everybody listening to threads, it's not just something unique to this board. If those threads weren't popular then members wouldn't post to them but as you can see the what's everyone listening to threads are among the most popular on this board. Not to mention they give each of us an opportunity to share what we're listening to as a way of discovering new music. The creation of them doesn't have anything to do with anyone being an "egomanic" but your constant bitching and baiting of members certainly paints you as a "troll".
  14. It's considered common courtesy on most boards to do a search first before starting new threads. Just sayin'....
  15. Then try further narrowing your search by looking for one of their album titles, a band member, etc. I've had no trouble finding the previous threads for Aerosmith, Deep Purple, and the other threads eagle87 has created duplicate threads for. Granted it's not the best search feature I've ever seen on a messageboard but it does work. At least it does for me and evidently at least two other members who have also posted links to the original thread within this thread. Not to mention the previous thread for Deep Purple was already right there on page one of this forum so it's not like it was all that hard to find. Like I said, myself (as well as other posters, as evidenced in this thread) have also used the Search feature to see if certain topics have been posted about before. Speaking just for myself it didn't take me 5 hours to search through the results. More like a matter of minutes and sometimes mere seconds. Yes, it does leave a lot to be desired but it's really not all that difficult.
  16. Far from it, just making a suggestion so there aren't numerous duplicate threads. Most forums even suggest looking first so there isn't a plethora of similar threads. Some people refer to it as "netiquette". I refer to it as common sense.
  17. I was new here once myself but that didn't stop me from figuring out how to use the Search feature. And just how much trouble does it take just to look down the page and see there was already a thread started about Deep Purple? I'm figuring not much. Welcome to the board but part of being new is learning the lay of the land prior to posting.
  18. I think it will be fun. I watched a few of the YouTubes from when they first went back on tour and aside from the one in Greensboro (also the first show on the tour) they seemed in top form. I'm not too happy that they're playing the same exact setlist night in and night out but at least they're many of my favorites. I'm looking very forward to it but it has been a very long time since I saw them playing in support of Van Halen II. My how the time flies...
  19. Possibly Tres Chicas (acoustic) and Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles this Sunday night. And Friday, for the first time since 1979.....Van Halen.
  20. This poster seems totally incapable of seeking out previously existing threads and is constantly starting up new ones even if the thread is on page one (such as the Deep Purple one). So, good luck with that.
  21. SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Eddie Money is going country. The veteran rocker is working on an album featuring countrified remakes of some of his early hits, including "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Hard Life." The first single from "The Other Side of Money," a new version of "Give Me Some Water" recorded in Nashville with backing vocals by Grammy winner Vince Gill and co-produced by John Ford Coley, is scheduled to be released this weekend. The album is a production of Big 7 Records, a small country record label based in Northern California, where Money began his career. Dennis Sanfillipo, who co-founded Big 7 with some of the millions he won in the state lottery 16 years ago, has known the gravelly voiced singer for years and helped persuade him to give country music a try. "I knew Eddie was really well-known, but the way the country people have ingratiated him to the community is really incredible," Sanfillipo said. Money, 58, released his last album of new music in 1999 and came out last year with a disc of 1960s soul and R&B covers.
  22. I've got a few Gary Moore albums but haven't listened to them in years.

  24. It may well have been The Bump Band as Mark Andes was with them when they played here last year. On the left you'll also see "Scrappy" Jud Newcomb, he's on practically every year that comes out of Austin.
