  1. Sure ... That would have been cool. I'm sure nobody would have minded either.. But the night was a tribute to Ahmet. Jason learning all his Father's drum parts and playing them as well as he did is a very nice and subtle tribute to his Father... They also played a tight, no nonsense set. Performing Ramble On, Good Times Bad Times and For Your Life, which were never or rarely played live by Led Zeppelin made it clear that it was all about the songs.. not about solos .. and jams.
  2. makes sense to me.... Jagger wrote the words, so I'd believe him as well. I meant more the location of the video then the song as being a tribute.
  3. Maybe it was a tribute to Zeppelin / Bonham.... I know Keith Richards was never a big Robert Plant fan, but the Stones love Jimmy. They must have known it was the same bldg... a couple of guys sitting on the stairs in the video .. just like the guy on the cover of PG. Looks more like a tribute than a slam.... i don;t see a dig in the lyrics either...
  4. I went the Complete Studio Recordings route. I also had box set 1.... which I traded with a friend of mine for Judas Priest Metal Works.. ... I know ... shoot me. But that shows how happy I was and am with Complete Studio recordings.. I also insisted I keep the booklet from Box set 1 This is the first and only time I sold or traded anything Zeppelin related... well I did give my sister my double of The Song Remains The Same DVD.... The only thing Complete Studio doesn't have is the Bonzo's Montreux / Moby Dick pc that Jimmy Page put together for Box set 1. Like Jahfin said, all the extras are on the tail end of Coda...which makes it much cooler than the 1982 release. I'd much rather have the songs in their running orders of the albums anyday... but I loved some of the things Page did with song sequencing on Box set...... BM/MD into I'm Gonna Crawl in particular was real effective. The complete Studio recordings was also from the same re-master - re-mixes that were used on the Box Sets. They sound great.
  5. Theo Epstein wasn't invited till the day before the ceremony... no wonder he said no.. I like Theo, but he left a pretty big train wreck in Boston. No doubt Shilling is a big mouth. He has an opinion about everything ... But in his prime, he was pretty awesome. .
  6. A tool with 3 World Series titles under his belt... He should have been at the ceremony though.. He was a huge reason the Red Sox won it in 2004.
  7. from blabbermouth. Bert Weedon, a British guitarist whose "Play in a Day" guitar guide taught the instrument to a generation of young hopefuls, died on Friday at his home in Beaconsfield, in the English county of Buckinghamshire. He was 91. BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler has posted the following message on Weedon's passing: "I had stopped commenting on deaths and disasters, because my [online] 'journal' was starting to resemble an obituary column. However, I cannot ignore the passing of Bert Weedon. Some of you won't have heard of him, but I can safely say that many U.K. and Ireland guitarists from John Lennon onwards throughout the 1960s and '70s would probably have never learned to play without Bert Weedon's 'Play In A Day' book. He produced a book with pictures of chords, rather than musical notation, making it possible for those of us who couldn't afford music lessons, or didn't read music, to gradually learn basic chords on the guitar. I know BLACK SABBATH wouldn't exist without his book, since both Tony Iommi and myself learned to play guitar chords from it. RIP Bert!"

  10. A class act all the way through.
  11. I would bet it had something to do with it... Jimmy Page didn't play his guitar down around his ankles because it was comfortable.. it looked cool. Of course it was also so us Americans wouldn't mis-pronounce it as Leed... that's a given.
  12. Led Zeppelin looks much cooler than Lead Zeppelin. Def Leppard looks cooler than Deaf Leopard too. Aerosmith ---- Arrowsmith Lynyrd Synyrd ---- Leonard Skinner... who I believe was their High School Gym teacher...
  13. I'll have to look, but I don't think JPJ has spoken very highly of Mr Winner's film... If I remember correctly, when I saw him on the Zooma tour, Jones said Scream For Help (the film) was terrible.... Michael Winner has probably caught wind of this and doesn't like him... He also might have caught Jimmy on a bad day.. Interesting article... I always wondered how involved Jimmy was with DW3. Turns out not at all....
  14. thanks for posting... I like her.. very talented, I might go to the Portland ME show.
  15. Jackie Fox is now a Lawyer. She threatened to sue if her name or likeness was used in the film.. Lita Ford also wanted nothing to do with it... and seemed pretty pissed after the fact that she was a minor character. Sandy West should have had more attention in the movie. She was my favorite in the band. But, even with her role being small, you could tell she was loyal and protective of her bandmates. Edgeplay was excellent. Good reading Strider... I would have loved to have seen Led Zeppelin 5 times in 1977. Almost Impossible living near Boston.
  16. By Stacey Anderson September 26, 2011 1:25 PM ET John Bonham of Led Zeppelin performs at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Michael Putland/Getty Images This week in rock history, John Bonham and Cliff Burton passed away, George Harrison and David Crosby visited Springfield, Courtney Love was sentenced for her assault on Kathleen Hanna and Don Henley received an award from President Bill Clinton. September 25, 1980: John Bonham dies The accidental death of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham left the band in ruins and the music world inconsolable. Bonham was no small factor in Led Zeppelin's arena ferocity. His controlled speed and heaviness were the clever force of their rock anthems. His keen sense of dynamics and his rhythmic adeptness carried many of the band's more experimental grooves, such as "Fool in the Rain" and "Immigrant Song," and his percussive ideas were inexhaustible: his infamous drum solo in "Moby Dick" was known to clock in around 30 minutes in concert. On the day of Bonham's death, the drummer drank vodka heavily throughout breakfast and continued imbibing during the band's afternoon rehearsal for their upcoming American tour. After practice, the band decamped to guitarist Jimmy Page's house in the South of England. By nightfall, Bonham had consumed an estimated 40 shots of vodka; he passed out and asphyxiated on his vomit. He was 32. Led Zeppelin formally disbanded a few months later. In 2011, Rolling Stone readers voted Bonham the greatest drummer of all time Read more: http://www.rollingst...6#ixzz1rNVhhZAE
  17. I remember like it was yesterday. I was 17, working part time at Montomery Ward in the restaurant, "The Buffeteria" bussing tables and washing dishes.... There was this very nice and attractive blonde girl that worked there. She was married to a Bass player named Mark. He was a cool guy probably in his mid 30's. I got friendly with both of them, talking music, concerts and whatever... She knew I was a drummer and a huge Led Zeppelin, John Bonham fan.... So she stopped by to tell me.. I hadn't heard the news yet. The first thing I did was call my friend Eric, who was working at McDonalds.... "Are you sitting down man?" I got through rest of the night working.. As soon as my shift was over, I bought a can of spray paint. and headed towards my high school. I spray painted the 3 circles all over the place. I was not a spray paint artist and it was pitch dark. The circles looked terrible, I think half the school knew it was me... but I really didn't give a shit. I was stunned and very sad..... and I had to pay my tribute to the great John Bonham.
  18. Watched this the other day.. really enjoyed it. Sundance Channel had it On Demand for $6.99.
  19. Thanks Cletus... I had no idea this was going on.. I found this statement from Benoit David online about his departure. Dear YES fans, As you all know, the final three shows of last year's European tour were cancelled due to my ill health. On my return to Canada, I was advised to cease touring, for the foreseeable future, in order to avoid further damage to my voice. Following this extremely disappointing diagnosis, I had no alternative but to inform my fellow band members that I was unable to confirm my availability for, at least, the forthcoming concerts in New Zealand, Australia and Japan. Although there was no alternative, I did so with a heavy heart as I felt that I was letting everyone down especially those who have supported me since I had the privilege of becoming the band's vocalist in 2008. The band members were all very understanding and asked if I would mind being replaced for the April shows - I immediately agreed that this would be the best way forward and gave them my blessing. I was then pleased to learn that Jon Davison would be my replacement as he is an accomplished musician with a fine voice. I subsequently learnt, from a band member's interview, that I had officially left Yes and that my departure was permanent. As this is the situation, everyone should know that I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity I was given and very proud to have contributed to more than 200 concerts and to the 'Fly From Here' and 'In The Present Live From Lyon' albums. I would also like to express my appreciation for the support I was given by each member of the band, the fantastic crew, the management and everyone else involved during my time as vocalist in the band. Finally, to the fans who have applauded my efforts and to those I have had the pleasure of meeting - many thanks, my best wishes and please continue with your support of one of the world's greatest bands - YES. Although I need to take it easy for a while, I fully intend to continue with my music career. In late summer of 2011, I added vocals to Mystery's forthcoming album 'The World Is A Game' - which is at the final stages of mixing and will be available in the near future. This is my third collaboration with Michel St-Pere, and Mystery, following 2007's 'Beneath The Veil Of Winter's Face' and 2010's 'One Among The Living'. So I guess I will, hopefully, see you somewhere down the road... Blessings, Benoit David
