  1. You are the encyclopedia. I respect the info you share, gained through the archives, and what you are able to share, through your personal anecdotes.
  2. Don't mean to be rude or meddling, but could a fraction of this be expounded upon? The door is cracked open a bit here. If it's not cool,we understand.
  3. In a radio interview I heard several years ago promoting what I believe was Manic Nirvana,Robert Plant brought up Stella Stevens. I don't recall if she inspired a song,or if he was just infatuated with her. Does this ring any bells?
  4. It may be embellished, but not boring.I thought it was a good read.
  5. OK,this one is a true mystery to me.If anything has been posted in the past,I've missed it.Tie my scurvy arse to the yardarm if so. At the Atlantic 40th,at MSG,when Led Zeppelin was exiting the stage,a tall dude with outreached arms approached the band.It was like he was at some spiritual tent revival and had experienced a revelation. Jason,Jimmy, and JPJ got out of the way damn quick. As I recall,Robert stood his ground before security pounced on the guy. Mystery:Who was this guy and how was security breached?Or was he supposed to be sidestage and just got carried away in the moment? Can you fill in the blanks?
  6. Now see the beauty here;you're detailed explanation tell of facts of which I was unaware.
  7. My sincere apology to you,SteveAJones, for being trivial for your mystery thread. Just curious, did you know?
  8. Remember the band,Kingdom Come, from the 80's? What humorous moniker did Robert Plant ascribe this ersatz Led Zeppelin wannabe?
  9. My next door neighbors are pack rats extraordinaire. They consume every yardsale, every weekend ,within miles. They have collected so much shit, their house is full, their backyard is full, and last summer they bought a retired U-Haul,and filled it full of useless shit because they ran out of space to store useless shit they'll never need or use. Their front yard is full of "yard art"(shit). The young, up and coming professionals in my neighborhood have complained to the city, with minimal results. These are both educated people and this makes no sense. On weekends, when we see their car pull in to their cluttered driveway,my wife and I can only guess;more useless shit is invading our neighborhood.
  10. Much obliged pop,Evster and Achilles for your insight regarding my query via Steve A. Jones.Another[for me] mystery solved.Thanks.
  11. Steve- Help me out;indulge me. Once again, thousand pardons if this has been covered[probably]before. The studio versions of The Song Remains The Same and The Rain Song are played in different keys on Houses Of The Holy. The movie version,Song Remains The Same segued into Rain Song in the same key. Did Page transpose Rain Song up two frets from the studio version? Or... Since he was playing the doubleneck-did he tune one guitar in a different key and play the same chords as on the studio issue? However this was achieved,it show the mental edge expertise of one Jimmy Page. It's the only way the two songs could work in this sequence. Yet another typical newbie question. Thanks.
  12. I pretty much agree with you.Plant did "drop down" a generation or 2/3rd's a generation with Doug Boyle, Phil Johnstone et al [got a son in law] I would have liked another effort after Fate of Nations with the same cast.
  13. Steve, This may not be a mystery per se,more of a subjective opinion on your part. On Plant's solo efforts up to and including Fate of Nations, which guitarist do you feel was the best fit with Plant?
  14. Here's the story: The Black Crowes were the opening act for Plant at UAB.During their set, a robed and hooded figure slowly walked across the front of the stage...with a bicycle horn in his hands. The kind that looks like a miniature trumpet with a rubber orb on the end. The figure would walk a few steps, face the band, then toot the horn. By now you know the robed figure was Plant. When Plant got to Chris Robinson, Robinson looked totally befuddled! Like where is Allan Funt? Robinson kept singing though, and pretty much kept his cool, though you could tell this blew his mind. The figure turned and slowly walked off stage. It was a general admission concert, so during the break I made it to about 20' from the stage. During Plants set, members of The Black Crowes returned the highjinks by coming on stage and heaving vegetables from the backstage spread. Plant didn't miss a lick during this, although he was dodging and ducking the objects being directed at him. It was a pretty damn funny episode and of course, the concert was great.
  15. Steve-the traveler of both time and space, You're an amazing fount of knowledge in regards to Led Zeppelin.I apologize in advance if my question doesn't fit your thread. Anyway... I saw Plant on the Manic Nirvana tour at Alabama Birmingham campus 10-25-90.Plant was sporting a Jimmy Page t-shirt during his set. Was there a particular significance to this? The date? Did Plant do this at other venues? Did he visit a local headshop and like what he saw...? Also... a food fight ensued on stage midway through his set. Plant was pummeled with vegetables. Can you guess/do you know the reason behind the food fight? I'll give the details later if you don't already know them.
