Two takes on Kurt Weill's "Alabama Song".

    Lotte Lenya:

    David Bowie:

Before you ask, I didn't include The Doors version because we have all surely heard it by now. I certainly have heard it enough to last a lifetime.

Love the Lotte Lenya version, super cool!  It would be hard (even for Bowie) to top that! ;)

So a Tommy dip - slightly spicy and an Avo dip? Yes I think pre dinner at the bar, with a cold glass of Sauvignion Blanc. That will do nicely. Maybe make a steaming bowl of Chilli to go with it. It would be a tonic for this brutal cold weather outside^_^. Thanks Debs

You have a lovely meal planned, cp! Sounds perfect for a cold weather day.  Heavy on the avocados and light on the tomatoes and onion.  I use about six Hass avocados and only one small tomato, chopped onto a paper towel first so that your dip is not full of tomato juice. ;)  Toss the avocado pit in the dip to preserve the color, or just eat it up quickly like we do, hehe.

:Thinking:Gotta try again. Maybe some Guacamole and a tortilla crisp with a glass of wine tomorrow will do it?

That would do it for me, cp!  Avocado, red onion, tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, sea salt.  I like mine a bit chunky.  I may have to make this today!  :)

Fine Debs, Just remember I did English Literature and Language to a high level in school and as such specialise in English. B):P.

Anyway dinner this evening is a North Undian Lamb  Curry with Naan bread

All in fun, cp, all in fun!

No DD. Guacomole i can dig, I suppose it's the addition of the other things that makes it. I don't mind dipping things in it

By the way Debs it's Inedible. No such word as unedible. So, sorry to say that's lines for you after school!! :D

Hmmm, I suppose you are technically correct, cp.  But unedible just seems more appropriate (and emphatic), and now I will be on a quest to have inedible replaced with unedible. ;)

  6. ^^^ Oh no, cp! Not digging the avocados??  If available, I buy avocados every time I go to the grocery store. I love them with everything, and sometimes will eat just an avocado for lunch. Cut into chunks, sprinkle with a little sea salt  and balsamic vinegar and voila! ;)  Fresh chunky guacamole is a favorite at my house as well.

Having said that, I have found that just like bananas, there is a very short couple of days to eat them so that they are perfect.  Too ripe or too green and they are unedible. That may not be what you're dealing with, sounds like you just don't like them.  No worries, that's more for Mrs. cp! :)

Well, it's better late than never, Debbie! While I've eaten chicken and lamb, sea food was a big no no! I'm really glad that I'm not allergic! I know that I'll be missing out on a lot if I was! :)

Absolutely, Kiwi!  I'm excited for a whole new world of food that awaits you!!

Had sea food for the first time at an office party, recently.

It was at a Kebab cum pub type of joint. It is called The Big Pitcher

    http://www.bigpitcher.co.in/

For the record, my dad is highly allergic to sea food. I was terrified to try the prawn kebab, for obvious reasons. Then in went in a few beers (I can sure as hell, out drink any man in my office ;) ) and in spite of being pretty drunk, I can tell you that the prawn kebab and chicken kebab were absolutely lip smacking.

The lamb kebab was just OK. The taste was great, but manually deboning each and every freakin' piece of kebab was messy and annoying!

I highly recommend The Big Pitcher to anyone visiting Bangalore, who wants to go out and have some good culinary

Kiwi, it's amazing to me that you have never eaten seafood before now, but with your dad's allergy, I'm sure you weren't exposed to it much while growing up. I have lived in several different places, but always near the ocean, and seafood has always been a large part of my diet.

A plate of veggies and a bottle of water - I could eat my own hand I'm so hungry for real food right now.

Well fucking eat some Chalks !!

I agree! Life's too short to skip the glorious food part. I find that if you just watch your portions, and you have a general leaning toward healthier, balanced meals, you can eat pretty much anything. Exercise helps, too, which I know you do a lot of.  Nothing wrong with veggies, but if you are craving your own hand, time to rethink your strategy, haha! Do not miss out on life!! :)

Another thing that made me happy was receiving my first pay check. This happened 4 days ago.

Time to go shopping for music albums! I have so much to buy! :D

Congratulations, kiwi, that is a huge accomplishment and one that you should be (and no doubt are) very proud of! Don't forget to save a few pennies.  Start early and never stop saving. You won't miss the money and it will provide you with a nice nest egg down the road.  I know you already know that, the mom in me just couldn't resist, hehe. ;)

Duck confit tacos. Chips and guacamole and salsas. Beer. Lunch is served. For you beer mavens, I had Beachwood BBQ Brew's Citraholic IPA on tap. Brewed in Long Beach, CA with an ABV of 7.1.

Looks tasty, Strider! I have become fond of IPAs lately.

You are more than welcome to our humble cottage in the country ladies. A happy new year to you both and here's to many a delight in the kitchen. A cold start today so we are braving it and having a round of golf, well at least it is sunny. A breakfast of poached egg on wholemeal toast and blueberries and yogurt should see us through

Many thanks, cp!  You are going to be mighty surprised when ebk and I show up at your doorstep one day! :)
