They should start a separate TV channel with all these classic shows, Debbie! :D

Yes, ma'am!  I think we have one (TVLand), although it's been a while since I watched it so not sure it's still all of the classics.

Ahhh!!! Son of a bitch! The bloody Grim Reaper has struck again! :(

I remember when I was a little girl, I used to come home from school at 3 PM and a classic TV line up consisting of The Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy and Three's Company greeted me! 90 minutes of television bliss!

Mrs. Brady and Alice were my favourite characters!

Goodness, think of all the kids (from multiple generations) who were reared on The Brady Bunch!  Good stuff!

  3. I was definitely a Brady Bunch kid growing up, and Mrs. Brady reminded me of my own mother.  Just saw Florence on Dancing with the Stars, supporting contestant Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady).  Oh, the memories of those dear '70s shows.

    Rest in Peace, Florence Henderson.

    :(

Which part of the US are you that you can't grow fruit trees?

That Plum tree produces so much fruit that we have plum chutney from 2 years ago and I give pounds away. Though having said that we haven't had plums that last 2 years as the spring has been so awful. Do you not grow Tommies?

South Mississippi.  It's not that fruit trees won't grow here, and there are some who take the time and attention to grow different varieties.  At the risk of getting way outside my area of expertise, I'll say that issues include not getting enough deep cold weather in the winter, and then having late spring frosts that kill the blooms.  In my yard, I have a tough love approach.  I like to plant many varieties of trees, flowers, shrubs, including fruit bearing varieties.  However, you must be able to survive without a lot of time and attention.  I don't cover trees to protect from frosts, and while I do some fertilizing, it's likely not enough. Sad but true.  We have enjoyed many years of producing pecans (until hurricanes took the trees), and luckily we have many flowering trees/plants that thrive.  I had a calamondin tree that produced very well until it fell to a frost.  It has grown back but has not produced.   My dad and hubby grow lots of vegetables including tomatoes, corn, peppers, cucumbers, and lettuce.  Fresh tomatoes are my favorite!

Plums DD. We are not capable of growing peaches unfortunately. Too far north. We have a better view from the front but i don't have a snap

Our climate makes it difficult to grow most fruit trees.  We have a very young plum tree, which has grown slowly over the 3-4 years we've had it, although it has not produced fruit yet.  Same with a pomegranate plant.  Grows and looks healthy, but no fruit. :(

Thanks so much, I sincerely appreciate your and everyone's kind words.

It truly is - as they say - a parent's worst nightmare. Fortunately we are all experiencing some incredible bonding, as well, so even in the depths of grief there's an amazing degree of positive energy that helps to sustain us. So while I'm very sad at the loss of this wonderful young man, I still grateful for the love the rest of our family is experiencing.

This is Sean the last time we were together back in July with my son Devin.

Thankful for the memories you have of your nephew, and for the love and bonding you ar experiencing with your family.  Nothing matters more as your family presses on.

Rest In Peace to my 24 year-old nephew Sean, of an overdose. On my way to be with my brother and his family at this terribly difficult time.

TypeO, this is truly heartbreaking.  I have kids this age and cannot imagine the sadness that your family is feeling.  Prayers for you and your family, and much respect to you for being a great brother.

A great veg. Mrs CP not so keen ironically, as it was her that converted me. I have them steamed or sauteed with some Pancetta. They always say after the first hard frost the humble sprout takes on a better flavour. Either way they are a winter staple with Sunday Roast.

I saw brussel sprouts on the stalk yesterday at the store.  Had not seen them sold this way before.  They have gotten bumped up to 'super cool' status. ;)

Porridge with blueberries mixed in for breakfast with a great glass of water

I had oatmeal this morning, too!  Cooked with milk and honey, topped with raspberries, blackberries, sliced banana, and a pinch of sea salt.  Coffee.

Tonight my wind down drink is hot earl grey tea, sweetened with coconut sugar.  Have enjoyed trying different flavored sugars in my tea, but none match the *wow* factor of vanilla bean sugar.

    oops...

After a lovely day at Hillwood Estates, we had wine and snacks - Erin had calamari and I had brussel sprouts with pomegranates and orange yogurt.  And then we had more wine.

Dinner will be chicken breasts with a side of spaghetti and a tomato/mozzarella salad.  And more wine.

I had brussel sprouts today, too.  So glad I have acquired a taste for this wonderful vegetable, hehe.  I usually steam them but tonight roasted them in the oven.  They're yummy either way!

  12. Strider, a pumpkin bisque recipe would be most welcomed, many thanks!

CP, you have a lot of energy to cook fancy dishes for every meal.  It would be fun to live in your house. :)

Sunday brunch: Lobster scrambled eggs, cheese grits (no comments, CP), English muffin.  Mimosa and coffee.  Water.  I'm good til dinner.
