  1. Thanks for the all comments to my posting from earlier today. I think an internet forum such as this one (which was created for another purposes) is the wrong place to elaborate in depth about all the pros and cons coming with either approach. I will therefore not continue to post here.

Just a very last comment, because I don't want to be misunderstood: I completely agree with your statements saying that there is no universal solution to this problem. What might work for one person, does not necessarily work for another one. My general point was, that I think that it's very important to make an educated decision - whatever that may be.

Thank you both for the positive wishes.

Will add to the positive wishes for your wife. I think it's always good to explore all your options and get as much information as you can when combating any sort of illness. Certainly eating healthy is beneficial for all of us for a myriad of reasons.

  2. Thanks i didnt know. True, i rather be alive looking however than dead :) I just always hate seeing someone change so drastically, even though its none of my business, lol i just like remembering people when they looked their best. I need to get past that :/

People get older - fact of life. No one will remain as they were but that's not to say they still aren't good looking. It's a different good looking.

  3. Ive always thought Stephen Stills was attractive and all back in the 60's and early 70's..I just saw some recent pics of him, and got a little sad on the inside.. I mean, i know we all get old and fat at one point..but its still sad to see for me :( Haha yea that was nothing drastically sad..but i mean look at this..

    That

    why?? :(

He's also had a lot of serious medical problems and sometimes the medications they put people on can alter a person's weight, add bloat etc. The important thing is he's still with us and hopefully will be for a long time.

  4. How can you get pregnant from a pill? Or am I misunderstanding something?

You can if you skip a dose or even if you don't, occasionally people have ended up pregnant. It's pretty effective but not 100% unfortunately.

  5. ^I saw that one on Staples' website. I'm going to hold out for a 4GB one because I've never replaced a computer within five years of buying it--I hold on to them for a while, so I should get the best I can afford, (which at the moment is NOTHING).

A principal called me today about a job! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I wasn't able to talk to him when he called because I was placed on a jury today. <_<

I also got an email from a friend asking me if I don't have a job when school starts if I can sub for her while she recovers from surgery. (That's a bad thing for the friend, but a good thing for me b/c I will be busy even if I don't have a contract.)

    :cheer: Fingers crossed for you!!!!!

  6. i havent heard of some of those, though i do know clinique and loreal of course. they are both popular here in oz. has anyone tried those mineral foundation powders? i use max factor foundation, a creme, as i thought powder would be too drying...

Mario Bedescu is online :) I really like their products. I've had great success with them.

  7. you're so welcome. :)

now, to start another topic .......

what do all you lovely ladies think about skin care? i have always just used mild soap and water, with an exfoliating glove to cleanse, and oil of olay for moisturising. now, i know you are supposed to NEVER use soap, but i must admit, i don't have a lot of wrinkles for my age ( tho not ever being a smoker has a LOT to do with it ), so it can't be too bad, and it's easy on the pocket too!

    what are your favourite products?

I don't use soap either - too drying. I use a mild cleanser that I've used for years and has worked really well. I know a lot of people swear by Oil of Olay - I use Mario Bedescu and I'm pretty pleased with it. It's not expensive either and lasts forever.

  8. She's done her deed!

Recieved a call from my 11yo son and he told me to forget visitation and that he would run away and wanted nothing to do with me ever again!

    I am totally stunned :o:(

I am so sorry to hear this :console: There's nothing worse than a parent who uses a child to get back at the ex-spouse. With all you are going through, this is the last thing you need. Thinking good thoughts things will work out better xxx

  9. Thanks for these screenshots from I Believe. Every time I watch it I get tears in my eyes ("...tears from your Mother from the pits of her soul, look at your Father see his blood run cold..."). So sad their marriage didn't survive that. I guess all the couples I can think of that lost a child eventually divorced.

Not all couples - I know plenty who lost a child and stayed married, including my own parents.

cant we all agree that ANY picture of percy is hot?

No <_< I've seen some horrible photos of him but that doesn't mean anything. We all take bad ones now and zen, er then ;):D

  10. :veryhot: Whew! I was about to get worried...

I'm vegetarian, so I eat quite a bit of soy products, plus I have a family history of breast cancer. My great-Grandmother had a double mastectomy but still died of cancer. Two of my aunts, my grandmother, & my mother have also had problems.

But, I guess I'm ok as far as the soy stuff goes

Soy has a lot of positive benefits but try not to make it your primary source of protein. I don't know if you eat fish or not but if you're vegan, look to fermented soy - seitan, tempeh, beans, peanut butter, nuts, quinoa and amaranth.

  11. you're welcome.

i am one of the ones who have to take it till the day i die. i had thyroid cancer and had the entire gland removed, and the area treated with radioactive iodine. that's why i know about getting the levels right. the thyroxine takes a few weeks to build up to the right level in the body. if you have to go off it for any reason ( like i used to have to for treatments and scans ) it also takes a few weeks to leave the body. you may well have to take it forever, but hey, it's only one little pill a day, it's not so bad.

    good luck!

:o I didn't know that :(:console: So happy you are well now xxxx
