  1. I FINISHED SUMMER SCHOOL TODAY!

My kids (mostly) did very well. Only one kid flunked, and he worked REALLY hard to fail.

THEN I floated the river this afternoon (school was out at noon).

THEN I had a nice dinner with the BF.

...and then I had a nice nap on the couch---which explains why it's midnight and I'm still up.

  2. Well it wasn't exactly today but yesterday my catscan came back normal and I get a two week break in my treatments because my blood platelets were low.

God it feels good to feel good! :)

    :cheer::cheer:

    1. :cheer::yesnod::yesnod:

    2. :cheer: And impatiently waiting as well

    3. :cheer: Have a great time!!!!

    2. I'm still waiting...no one should forget to let me know when it happens, since I'm going to be out of town. ;)

BUCK EYE doc--That migraine sounded terrible. :(

  3. 1. I found a sub--a friend of mine who is a great teacher. No worries. I get to go to Tahoe this weekend. ;)

    2. My kids are INTO Romeo and Juliet! I was worried they wouldn't be into it! (Thank GOD, breathes a sigh of relief...)

    3. I finally mowed the freakin' lawn. It was getting ridiculous.

    4. I talked to an old friend tonight for quite some time. It was nice to catch up.

    5. It was a beautiful evening. I spent most of it outdoors.

  4. Charlie I'm so glad to hear you are home from the hospital. So sorry about the relapse though :console: Sending some good thoughts your way.

    Ditto to what ninelives said.

I can't believe I forgot to say something about this!

  5. Hope that you have a good time, Mandy, for a well deserved vacation break. :)

Thanks. The one thing I feel a bit guilty about is that I may actually need a sub for the afternoon on Friday. I don't want to do it, especially since summer school doesn't really have substitutes, but you know, it's kind of a cheap vacation that I would have a lot of fun on. I'm sure I could get away with less than $200 spent, even giving my friend's mom some gas $.

I'm going to talk to the principal about it. They moved up the "departure time" from 5pm to 3pm becuase my friend's got a small child. I don't get out of school until 4, so I would only need one for a few hours.

I'm even thinking about just driving my car on my own up there, but I don't know--I'm not so sure about driving across Nevada by myself after working all day. I'm not too confident about being able to handle the boredom. ;)

It will be quite exiting for us all, and a wonderful achievement for you to hit 1000 posts.

Because he will leave at that point?

That would make all of us happy!!! And finally make a positive contribution to this thread...

    We can only hope.

Heh. What a freakin' troll, eh? I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was someone we all love to hate. <_<

  6. ^We have such an infestation this year that anytime I do any yard work this year, I get bit by ants. Little black ants, and I've been bit by them so much that they welt up like mosquito bites and stay for a week or so. I have one on the side of my face by my eye and it looks like a giant zit. A really gross giant zit. :(

  7. I went out for ladies' night last night with friends from high school. We had a blast. I drank cheap booze and laughed my ass off. I feel like crap today, but it was worth it. Totally worth it.

I'm probably going to go to Lake Tahoe with a friend from high school next weekend. I'm excited for that becuase I need a short trip that is kind of cheap. It will be semi-cheap becuase we're going to ride with her mom in her mom's car up there, (it's an 8 hour drive), and we are going to stay in her aunt's vacation rental home, so we don't have to pay for a hotel room.

  8. Glad to hear that the summer school is going well and that you finally got paid (for a job well done, by the way). Happy that you got updated on your contacts and glasses.

Just reminded me that I need to check my family's eyes this summer, but they are always the last ones to get taken care of, lol.

Yeah...they same the same thing about mechanics. They usually have the worst running cars. (Though I'm sure your family's eyes are taken care of very well.)

I've been in precarious financial straits before also. Probably around your age and older as well. No need to bore with details.

One thing about reading LZ posts for a year and a half now, you get what I would say is a fairly accurate assessment of one's mettle.

These are strange times to be sure.

But I'd bet the ranch that in time, the tide will a turn a direction for which you aspire and desire.

Anyone who's been around here for awhile can see that your shoulders support an excellent, rational mind. This can carry one far, and further than they imagined.

    Thanks, Jabe.

I think I may have a hook for a job soon. They start interviewing again in July/August. I have a coworker who called a few principals in the neighboring school district--ones who are looking for teachers in my feild.

I hope I get a job soon. I'm a bit bummed that my paycheck's not stretching farther. My car needs about $900 in a/c work, new axles, brakes, hoses, and tires. That's a lot of money for someone who has NONE. :(

I need other things too--things that I've been doing without, including preventative medical care. <_<

I saw this You Tube Video of the Trojan Vibrating Touch Fingertip Massager.

These adds are shown on TV. The CMT channel showed it while running the PG rated baseball film "The Field of Dreams".

Imagining the older woman on the TV add using the product... was just "creepy"

Yeah...because you have to wait for Trojan to come out with that product to buy things like that.

...and the older woman reminds me of someone's gramma talking about sex toys with their grandchildren...super creepy.

  9. I got paid yesterday. Being without health insurance and virtually without a job (my biggest paycheck to date before this one this year was $980 for the entire month, before that it was like $700), I've been so broke that I can't afford anything. Not even necessities.

Well, today, I was able to go to the eye doctor and not only order new contacts with my new RX, I was also able to get new lenses in my glasses! My glasses' RX is about three years old, so it's a big deal. If my eyes hurt, I will be able to actually see with them on!!!!

  10. 1. Pay day.

    2. My students are FINALLY done with their bloody research project. Let me tell you--that was totally PULLING TEETH. (sigh)

    3. The fact that I've done laundry on Wednesday night instead of waiting until Friday night.

    4. Buying a few "small things" at Costco today. (tee-hee...I said "small things" made me happy)

    5. The fact that I'm totally relaxed and NOT uptight about what we're going to tomorrow in class. (I LOVE not being totally freaked out about what other people are going to say about my teaching, which is what I HATED about student teaching.)

    6. One of my students told me today that I have treated him with more respect than all of his other teachers combined. That made me happy--I really DO give respect to my kids. You wanna talk crap about my kids? No way, buddy. I jumped all over someone today for making a snide comment about them when I was venting. I'm a mother hen.

  11. I'm happy that I survived my 10-year high school reunion this weekend.

I'm also happy that people said thank you to me for helping arrange it. I was stressing out about it, and there was a lot of pressure, so to have people give their thanks was nice.

I was a bit bummed, however, that I was too tired to have too much fun at bars and other parties after the "official" arrangements were made.

  12. The stupid NBC affilate's poor "new" digital TV signal.

We've had the digital converter boxes for over a year and a half now, and we have TWO HDTV's: a 32" one and a 42" one. Until the NBC affiliate had the "changeover," I had NO issues with the digital TV stations.

It's funny how that they're endorsing a roof-top antenna company and they're telling you to call them if you're not getting a signal, which I'm not. The only time I can watch the show is if I take my $150.00 HDTV antenna and stand IN THE MIDDLE OF MY LIVING ROOM WITH THE ANTENNA HELD UP OVER MY HEAD.

I never had a problem with said digital channels before, not on ANY of the TVs.

I'm not paying to have a rooftop antenna installed. I've paid over $2k for the HDTVs and I have three converter boxes that worked fine the KTVB (NBC affiliate) digital channels.

...and it's funny, NO OTHER STATION IN TOWN IS ENDORSING SAID ANTENNA INSTALLATION COMPANIES, and I get their signals just fine.

    Sigh.
