  1. How's it going "gadgetguru?" You definitely know your STEELY DAN well. COOL! I must confess, I do not remember if it was Jimmy Page or not. I'll have to dig through some research and find out. I promise that I'll let everyone know if it was Jimmy Page or not. ROCK ON!
  2. Hello "ally!" I figured that you would be commenting again. Thanks so much. ROCK ON!
  3. Very well "Dzldoc!" We will give credit where due. ROCK ON!
  4. How's it going "~tangerine~?" I'm glad that you are a STEELY DAN fan. They recorded so many great songs but my favorites are "Do It Again," "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," "Reeling In the Years," "Peg," "Josie," "Deacon Blues" and "Black Cow" to name a few. As for being a STEELY DAN fan, Julian Lennon was highly influenced by STEELY DAN. ROCK ON!
  5. Hey "Dzldoc," thanks for sharing those incredible photos. ROCK ON!
  6. Hey "Dzldoc," thanks for sharing those incredible photos. ROCK ON!
  7. How's it going "danelectro59?" You ain't lying, I met a lot of chicks at a STEELY DAN concert in L.A. during the late 1970's. What a treat that was for me. ROCK ON!
  8. How's it going "PennyLane?" STEELY DAN'S masterpiece AJA album from 1977 should rank as one of the all-time greatest albums ever. I have the AJA album in the ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING 24 KT. GOLD ULTRADISC series on CD by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL). Believe me when I tell you that the MFSL version sounds unbelievable. You have to hear it to believe it. ROCK ON!
  9. How's it going "ally?" After the huge success of THE THREE DOG NIGHT THREAD, I get the feeling that a lot of fellow ZEPPELIN fanatics are going to be STEELY DAN fans as well. ROCK ON!
  10. How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN fanatics? We're getting closer to New Years Eve and New Years Day huh? My next thread is a tribute to another one of the all-time greatest bands to arise from the 1970's. I hope that you enjoy reading it. STEELY DAN will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered as contributors for writing and recording some of Rock's all-time greatest classic songs ever to come out of the 1970's. Many of their legendary songs from the 1970's sold in the millions and still counting. And because of this, STEELY DAN has continued successfully in recording and releasing great albums and solid hit songs and entertaining audiences the world over since the 1970's. STEELY DAN'S music is without a doubt, a true testament of the genius and sheer talent of two original founders, mainstays and brain children of one of the greatest bands ever. STEELY DAN is also a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary band done good. Their music is their story. STEELY DAN was born in Los Angeles, California in 1972 consisting of two main founding members: Donald Fagen from New York and Walter Becker from New Jersey. Fagen and Becker would meet in 1967 while attending Bard College in upstate New York. Fagen would graduate in 1969 with a Degree in English Literature and Becker would later drop out of college. As fate would have it, Becker would not need a Degree to succeed in life, music would be his and Fagen's key in making it successfully. After serving as tour musicians with JAY AND THE AMERICANS and trying their hand as staff writers at ABC-Dunhill Records in L.A., they formed STEELY DAN in 1972 as an outlet for a growing backlog of offbeat, original material that no one else seemed inclined to record. In the beginning, STEELY DAN was an actual band with the line-up consisting of Fagen, Becker, Guitarist's Denny Dias and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (THE DOOBIE BROTHERS) and Drummer Jim Hodder. This configuration line-up would record the "CAN'T BUY A THRILL," "COUNTDOWN TO ECSTACY" and the "PRETZEL LOGIC" albums respectively. Though Dias remained on board through 1977's masterpiece album entitled "AJA," STEELY DAN were almost completely Fagen's and Becker's fiefdom by the time the "KATY LIED" album, their fourth album was recorded and released. On record, the duo of Fagen and Becker recruited the cream of L.A.'s Jazz-Pop studio scene including Michael McDonald (THE DOOBIE BROTHERS), Victor Feldman, Jeff Porcaro, David Paich and Jazz Stal warts like David Sanborn, Tom Scott, Michael Brecker, Larry Carlton, Chuck Rainey, Bernard Pudie, Phil Woods and Wayne Shorter. STEELY DAN'S Music speaks for itself. When you think of STEELY DAN, you think of the 70's hit songs such as "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," "Reeling In The Years," "Do It Again," "Peg," "Josie," "Deacon Blues" and "FM" to name a few. Which brings us up to today. STEELY DAN is here to stay! STEELY DAN has successfully continued in recording and releasing great albums to this very day. Rock n' Roll definitely needs a great band like STEELY DAN in order to keep the glorious tradition of Rock n' Roll sounding beautiful and giving Rock n' Roll a new breath of fresh air when needed. STEELY DAN would also receive the ultimate highest honor by being inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001. I know for fact that we have not seen or heard the last of STEELY DAN. This legendary band still has so much to accomplish and contribute to the Rock n' Roll world that I cannot imagine Rock n' Roll without a legendary band like STEELY DAN. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," am I wrong? KEEP ON ROCKIN' STEELY DAN! ROCK ON!
  11. How's it going "ACDC?" It is really hard for me to choose a favorite song especially since I love all of AC/DC's songs and albums. My favorite album is the "Back In Black" album from 1980. In my opinion, the "Black In Black" album is Brian Johnson's Eulogy to the late great Bon Scott. "Hells Bells" is without a doubt, Brian Johnson's all out Eulogy to Bon Scott. Why, because Robert Plant sang about a Stairway To Heaven, Bon Scott sang about a Highway To hell and Brian Johnson sang about Hells Bells. My favorite song on the "Black In Black" album is "You Shook me All night Long." ROCK ON!
  12. How's it going "ledzep45?" I LOVE GENESIS! I also love PHIL COLLINS, MIKE & THE MECHANICS & PAUL CARRACK'S 1970's band ACE. Who can forget PETER GABRIEL, I always love his 1980's hit song "Sledgehammer." Great thread "ledzep45!" ROCK ON!
  13. Right on "Dzldoc!" There will never be another FAB FOUR in our lifetime or any other lifetime. ROCK ON!
  14. How's it going "Jahfin?" Being a die hard hard core BEATLES fanatic, I own just about everything there is to own on THE BEATLES including bootlegs. I own and have seen "THE U.S. VS. JOHN LENNON" on DVD many times, that is one hell of a Documentary film huh? I like this DVD and the "IMAGINE, JOHN LENNON" DVD, they both really tell the true stories of John Lennon well. ROCK ON!
  15. Hi "ninelives!" Thanks for your understanding. And now, on with the festivities! ROCK ON!
  16. How's it going "ninelives?" I'm sorry, I never meant to make it sound like you were criticizing Brian. I never took it that way from you at all. I just kind of talk about Brian the way I do since I do know him personally. Please forgive me. ROCK ON!
  17. How's it going "ninelives?" Believe me when I tell you that Brian is back better than ever. When Brian finished SMiLE, it was like a big heavy weight was lifted off of him. Brian sounds so much better now. Please remember that Brian is in his 60's now, SMiLE messed Brian up for almost 40 long years. You're talking about a true Genius, a music maker whose legendary unreleased SMiLE album nearly destroyed him since he could not finish it due to pressures from THE BEACH BOYS Lead Vocalist Mike Love, Brian's father Murray Wilson and the Capitol Records label whom THE BEACH BOYS filed a lawsuit against. With all of these pressures, Brian didn't have a chance. Please watch the DVD Documentary entitled "SMiLE, Brian Wilson and The Story Of SMiLE." As I stressed earlier, Danny Hutton played a big part in the Brian Wilson/SMiLE story in 1966-1967 and Danny makes a few appearances on the Brian Wilson DVD. The SMiLE story is one hell of a true story. ROCK ON!
  18. How's it going fellow die hard hard core ZEPPELIN, THREE DOG NIGHT & BEACH BOYS fanatics? I brought this thread back because Danny Hutton played a big part in the Brian Wilson/SMiLE story in 1966-67. Danny Hutton makes a huge guest appearance on the recent 2004 Brian Wilson DVD Documentary entitled "SMiLE, Brian Wilson And The Story Of SMiLE" and discusses SMiLE in detail. If you haven't seen this DVD, please buy it and see it. The unreleased SMiLE album from 1966-1967 is a true story. This story is a tragic one that went unresolved for almost 40 years until Brian found the courage with his old collaborator Van Dyke Parks to reunite and finish the SMiLE album and release it in 2004. It would take almost 40 years later before Brian would triumphantly finish SMiLE. This is one hell of a story. It will open your eyes about anything that you might have felt about Brian Wilson or THE BEACH BOYS. ROCK ON!
  19. How's it going "ally?" Thank you for your comment. In my threads, I truly do my best in telling the true Rock n' Roll stories the way it is and nothing less. I would like for all of our fellow LED ZEPPELIN & FLEETWOOD MAC fanatics to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Thanks again and take care. ROCK ON!
  20. What's up "Swede?" I'm doing fine, thanks for asking. Danny Kirwan was a great guitarist indeed. Too bad that he is homeless in London rotting and dying from Alcoholism. From what I've read, Danny Kirwan is in worse shape than Peter Green ever was. How sad. ROCK ON!
  21. How's it going "Swede?" THEN PLAY ON from 1970 is one hell of an album. Too bad that it would be Peter Green's farewell album and swan song with FLEETWOOD MAC. Danny Kirwan didn't do too bad after Peter Green left. Kirwan definitely learned a lot on guitar from Green and it showed. ROCK ON!
