Rock of Love with Brett Michaels

I've watched the show with my teenage daughter and told her this is exactly the kind of woman you DON'T want to be. This is how you DON'T want to carry yourself. And I told her to have respect enough for herself to NOT expose her body to every pervert. And that she would do well, to love herself and her body as it is and not need to grow up someday and buy floatation devices for breasts. And for crying out loud don't ever date a man who's constantly saying everything is turning him on. Thankfully she's got enough sense in her head to see that the way to love is not by how much cleavage you show. And who knows maybe he's really trying to find the right person. But, my daughter and I agree chances aren't that great when he keeps picking the same basic girl with a different face. Anyway, if he's genuinely seeking true love I genuinely wish him luck.

It seems almost impossible to find good role models for children/teens in "celebrities". I think the key to raising children in a healthy way is to keep them involved in things that promote good physical and mental challenges. I hope as a parent i will achieve that, so in 7 or 8 years when i am watching trash like Rock of Love with my daughter, she will laugh and say "mom, i'm so glad i'm not like that".

It's great that you are instilling self-respect into your daughter. If girls look to celebrities as role models, they are choosing very artificial and superficial people to admire. I hope one day this obsession with how a girl looks will end. We have more important issues to face in this country and the world. Lets raise children to be productive and innovative in today's world, and focus less on the garbage that doesn't matter.

There has got to be a balance for women. I did not and would not buy that really nice red velour halter top I tried on last week, for the very reason that it showed too much. On the other hand, I have no trouble wearing a V neck shirt. I did for a long time. I covered myself up to my neck, but like a male friend of mine let me know.... you could be wearing a burlap sack and the guys will still be guys. My reasoning? I like the way the cut suits me better. I don't even date, lol. Any guy I am ever going to date is going to have to love my brains, and they are often intimidated instead.

It's people like Britney that make me nervous. I don't want my daughter thinking she is "it" you know? When I told my daughter I couldn't stand Britney's voice she thought I was jealous of her success... HUH? It doesn't take much to be successful on that level. You just need tits and an ass. It's pretty sad in reality. Makes me wonder about her relationship with Mel Gibson. Are these Catholic values. Cat.ho.lic? Did I say that? No, not insinuating anything between them. Just wondering about the values of people who put so much emphasis on the death of a Jew to save their asses. More like assets eh Mel? Makes for a good story?

And you wouldn't believe the number of university profs who were telling me years ago that the girls all thought that Madonna was a liberating force for women. She had to sleep her way up to the top!!!!

That's liberation? No. Good hard honest work. Takes a lot longer but damn, its' worth it.

Ever read the lyrics for the song Heterosexual Man? It's NOT a pretty picture. The way to love? Can guys actually handle love? Seriously. They must be few and far between.

Queston regarding the show. I read on these posts that the guy will make out with these chicks right on the show? What girl who really wants a relationship would want one with a guy who is willing to just make out with chicks he doesn't know? Seems like the show is doomed for failure just by its' structure alone.

As i just posted, celebrities (and it seems the girls especially) are not "role models", but unfortunately they are seen in that light all too often. I hope to keep that in perspective for my daughter while she grows up. I plan to keep her so busy with sports and studies, lol... that she doesn't have any desire to look to Hollywood for direction.

I don't pay attention to people like Britney (#1 flake) and i recall clearly when Madonna came on the scene what i thought. She was desperately seeking stardom :) and she did what she knew would work. Good for her, but she wasn't a role model and certainly not liberating. I thought she was a better actress than a singer myself (that says alot :) ).

To answer your question, yes he makes out with these girls (and sleeps with some, too). It's quite disgusting to kiss a guy who just kissed another skank, lol. Some girls do get upset and act like "my boyfriend is kissing another girl"... it's kind of like "The Bachelor" but with a rock star. I don't think this show is all that serious. My opinion is the girls are there in the hopes of finding fame, for kicks, or the hopes of marrying someone famous. I don't know Bret's true motives, but going back to season one, he said he was looking for a rock n roll "girlfriend"... and never made it clear he is looking only for a true love (although he never said he was against that). He is just sucking up the fame himself i bet and enjoying the free kitty.

You know what my sister said to me last summer? I went off to use her computer to send some messages on facebook and she was watching a soap opera... in Israel, that she watched in Canada way back when we were growing up. And she still watches it. And she tells me, how this girl is choosing to be a stripper, because the money is SO good, therefore, it was a good choice...

So, you have the song Roxanne

a song trying to convince girls to get off the street...

yet, Sting hangs out in strip clubs...

so.... if they are making good money, and the organized crime is a little more organized, then what?

It changes things? All of a sudden it is ok?

Well hey, you are making his eyes happy right?

And if its' in hollywood and the bucks are big, then taking your clothes off for the world to see all of a sudden becomes legit?

It's now an acceptable art form...

Well the sad truth is that many women do turn to professions like stripping or prostitution for money. Some may come from a financially stable families too. I think that is "usually" a child who wasn't raised to the best of their parent/s ability. Most women in those professions don't actually enjoy being degraded by men.

You really can't use celebrities or rock stars as role models. This is a big problem with today's society. But while it seems like it's everywhere, i know many people with children, who don't use Hollywood as a guide to behavior. Like you and I, we see it for the shallow, worthless garbage it is. If you enjoy a performer, it's fine to watch or listen to them. You just have to realize it's their act. Know many how many provocative pictures you see of Britney Spears, that doesn't change the facts: she is a lousy parent, and got caught on tape numerous times doing stupid things with her child by her side (what mom drives with an infant on her lap?). As long as children are raised with good values and good family around them to love them, i think they will be smart enough to see what's real and what's fantasy. Reminding them as a parent what is important in life helps, too.

I will never consider pictures of naked people an artform. It's pornography. As much as some might try to redefine it, doesn't change the facts. Now when you see as many hot men walking around naked as you do women, i may eventually accept nakedness as an artform.

Maybe he's been set up by the show's producers. btw, is there any way to watch past episodes on line? Sometimes you got to feel sorry for rock stars. A Mockery was made of male weaknesses with rock stars as examples. Yeah, they are really complaining....

where the fuck is my space ship, lol. I'm so done here.

There's nothing wrong with a v neck shirt or showing some cleavage but, wearing a "shirt" that is cut to your navel is a different story. I think showing a some skin is fine. But, these girls go to the extreme.

From the very core of my heart, I wish you luck ans success. The problem is that they ARE role models. They are sold as such. I wasn't into sports. It was music all the way. It turns out, rock stars were pretty pathetic role models, and the sad thing is most of them don't give a fuck. They like their fortunes. Many of them don't think much past nothing and tend to be proud of their loose lifestyles.

Right, Me too, BUT according to these Uni profs, their students were looking to her as the ultimate female role model. They were letting me know how she was impacting our kids. I saw one of her concerts on tv. I kind of like to keep my bedroom in my bedroom, you know? They continue to reap fortunes via bad behaviour because it fuels a HUGE massive mob, therefore it is in the interest of all these orgs to keep business as ugly as usual. Must be the influence of St. Augustine's idea of the City of God. They call it heaven, it's more like hell on earth.

Yeah, sounds like a set up for ratings. They obviously didn't look for a rock star looking for "change" in his life, but that wouldn't do much for tv land, would it? Goodness, I am still trying to figure out the definition of a date. Facebook keeps showing me ads of dating millionaires and I keep asking if I'm supposed to perform tricks for my dinner, lol. 9 months single and loving it. Ha ha. Aerosmith is on the radio. How high can I fly with broken wings? HA HA. Just watch me!!!! But why does business planning software have to be so boring?

Thank you, i hope in the next ten years people won't look to artificial people as much as they do today. Britney will be over 30 by then, in other words, insignificant, lol.

I have had many celebrity crushes in my life. I never looked up to these men, just fantasized a bit lol. I can't for the life of me figure out why girls would worship the likes of the trashy, obviously phony celebrities out there. They must be bored. Still it's the parents job to make sure their children learn respect and responsibility. If they are taught what's right, they will see through the wrong clearly.

I think it's easy to see the celebrity phenomenon as "huge" but in truth, there are millions of people who don't pay them any mind at all.

Here is a deep v neck that I like.

That's not exactly what I meant. I'd said cut to the navel. And that's not. Take a look at the show sometime if you haven't yet. You'll see what I mean. As I said some skin is fine. I'm talking about the extreme.

Seriously, you can't mean it when you say all pictures of naked people is pornograhpy?! The term "art" is questionable though, many use it as an excuse to watch or take pictures like that.

Vegas style is normal for them. It seems extreme to others. They reflect their environment.
