Jahfin
From the All Things Music page on Facebook: ON THIS DATE (41 YEARS AGO) November 5, 1970 - Led Zeppelin: “Immigrant Song” b/w "Hey Hey What Can I Do" (Atlantic 45-2777) 45 single is released. "Immigrant Song" is a song by Led Zeppelin, released as a single from their third album, Led Zeppelin III, on this date in 1970. "Immigrant Song" was written during Led Zeppelin's tour of Iceland, Bath and Germany in mid-1970. The opening date of this tour took place in Reykjavík, Iceland, which inspired Plant to write the song. As he explained: “We weren't being pompous ... We did come from the land of the ice and snow. We were guests of the Icelandic government on a cultural mission. We were invited to play a concert in Reykjavik and the day before we arrived all the civil servants went on strike and the gig was going to be cancelled. The university prepared a concert hall for us and it was phenomenal. The response from the kids was remarkable and we had a great time. 'Immigrant Song' was about that trip and it was the opening track on the album that was intended to be incredibly different.“ Just six days after Led Zeppelin's appearance in Reykjavik, the band performed the song for the first time on stage during the Bath Festival. Mudbugclub
This Day in Music, November 8: Led Zeppelin IV On this day in 1971, Led Zeppelin released their fourth album. With no title printed on the album, and generally referred to as Four Symbols, The Fourth Album or Led Zeppelin IV, it has gone on to sell over 37 million copies worldwide. The 19th century rustic oil painting on the front of the album was purchased by Robert Plant from an antique shop in Reading, Berkshire, England. The 20th century urban tower block on the back of the full gatefold LP cover is Butterfield Court in Eves Hill, Dudley, England. http://mrtrpt.com/1el

Driver8
November 14, 1978 "Ozone Baby" is recorded at the Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. "It was one of three songs recorded at Polar Studios which were omitted from In Through the Out Door and later released on Coda" (wikipedia). "Ozone Baby" is a straightforward, up-tempo rock song, featuring some harmonised vocal effects from singer Robert Plant. Few Led Zeppelin studio songs included harmonised vocal effects, but it had been increasingly utilised by Plant in live performances from 1977 onwards. Despite this, "Ozone Baby" itself was never performed live at Led Zeppelin concerts." http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Ozone_Baby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfIj9_-fGQk
