The Beach Boys consists of Mike Love and (whoever he has hired) The Beach Boys did tour with Status Quo a while back; that wasn't an obvious fit either. Brian Wilson has been a hero since childhood - "Spirit of America" was the first album I ever bought with my own money at Kmart (or almost, as I recall it turned out to be a double album and I only had $5 so my mom spotted me for the rest).
