Diabetes or Neuropathy?

Since I have had so many damn surgeries I have what is referred to as Neuropathy.  Nerve damage and there is no cure.  So mine is in my feet.  I use my spinal chord stimulator to blast myself from the waste down to the tip of my toes to stimulate my feet and also to prevent any type of DVT's from occurring.  I was diagnosed with borderline type 2 diabetes also and have been on Glipizide/Metformin.  Since I have taken it the blood levels are normal.   I have an A1C kit to test myself but no longer do it.  Its like keeping score of a Bills game.  And there is not a damn thing I can do about it.  I am wondering if anyone here has any issues they would like to share?  I am doubtful but here is my attempt.  So I see Dr slice and dice in late October and will see what the chances are of them chopping off my feet later in life.  Yikes.  I am on meds for other things too.  Some of  them people kill for.  But they do not do anything but keep me sharp and focused.  ( am sure that is open to debate).  Gabapentin is the drug of choice by Doctors for nerve damage.  It does work if I am active and walking long distances.  So I will continue to take it.  Now remember, this is a medical thread and I have not discussed any political agenda.

I wish you all best, hope you just have as much health as possible and find the best possible doctor in all aspects!

I have a similar problem, where I have mental issues for a decade and a half now and just recently I discovered

this diagnosis called Aspergers syndrome and I went into reveealuation and it was decided in a public hospital,

that I stay on a dignosis of Scizoaffective disorder manic type without much good explanation.

The reason I'm writing this, is because it's such a topic,

as I am a musician and so it's not for any kind of new fans that start to care, so that I have eight instead of five heh.

Also sorry for my ass face on the forum, I myself have gotten well tired of my unstraight jawline.

It's obvious to me, that for my entire life, I had a big problem socialising, understanding social cues, being nervous and overwhelmed, not uderstanding what others poeple feel, while still having empathy, not understanding that people can be manipulative and provocative, not understading, other people were making  fun of me and although having a successful blog, constantly exposed on one of the biggest sites in Slovenia and having

some success working with well established musical artist I had no serious success in life(enough to live on my own), because I simply don't know how to do it,  although I do more and more and I'm also studying social gerontology successfully(in second grade now after a year here), because I always liked socialising with old pople.

So the absolutely only opition I have now, is getting a private psychiatrist that someone helps me get

that I truly know is really an all round quality person and do the reeavaluation one more time,

just to get me proper therapy I'm shure.

Because while I did have the idea to change the world in a better place through positive though and philosophy,

I still try to do that on my blog and I also hoped years ago that musical success, would save me from being dysfunctional, I'm shure most

people could confirm, that I very rarely showed any real signs of grandiosty or wish for fame,

I just have my idealism and also trying to help myself while thinking for  a better world for all .

But all sorts of misunderstandings were coming about, even on this forum,

because I just wanted to know, whether I can sing something, while not understanding, what kind of implications that can have,

such as success and while not understanding or atleast not properly displaying, anyone can sing anything anyway,

in their own way.

So after the initial trouble in high school, which also included falling in love very strongly and being a bit provoked,

while having no social skills, I was at home for a few years  and when I returned, it was just terrible,

because people were constantly teasing me for all kinds of things, especially related to music,

and I had no idea or skills to deal with it, I had no idea what was going on at all. It was like

one guy was mixing a concert and I gave him a listen, if he could set a tone, similar to guitar in Rock

and roll of Led Zeppelin and he said almost angrily, 'you will never have such a  sound'  and I just froze

not knowing what to say and this happened many times. If atleast I would say 'oh it's not that hard, many people can

quite set it'. But he probaly wanted to tell me, who Jimmy Page is, how special and also rich and everything he is,

but I just didn't get it.

So this is my life, it's getting better and I'm happy, I always had all the basics through my family,

it's nothing special, still never had a girlfriend and I hope I get trough life somehow and no I don't care if I have a strong voice,

it doesn't mean it will give you success and especially not success of Robert Plant, which many genuinely want,

even if he went through all kinds of tragedy,

I'm just happy to live and know very well, your ability means nothing, without people wanting to hear it

and I'm just tryng to build a few people around me, I can trust and live a happy live with.

That Gabapentin is costly, but yeah, it does help. I know someone else on it. It helps her a bit, but not 100%. It leaves her with insomnia. She's got problems in her feet too. Same thing - wondering about amputation on down the line. I hope it isn't so for you or her.

I do feel for you Rick. I had no idea. I'll keep you in my positive wishes and prayers. The positive is that type 2 Diabetes doesn't "have to" lead to Type 1. I'm curious of the side effects of that neurontin, if you get to sufferin' any at all. But you can keep that private if you care.

How's it goin', Samo? Those are hard diagnoses. Neither one sounds tasty. I sure don't wish you to have either, Samo.

So much of a stereo-type when someone mentions "schizo-anything". That's a hard one to diagnose. The Aspergers sounds more plausible from how you say your socializing. But I sure ain't no doc. How did they go from Aspergers to Schizoaffective manic type. You're not withdrawn toward others.

Aspergers is high-end of autism that improves with age. If you've had that diagnosis for a decade and a half, it sounds (from your description) that you've picked up some major anxiety along the way. If they didn't give you much explanation, I'd want a 2nd opinion or ask the reason for the change, and still get a 2nd diagnosis anyway.

How do you measure "success", Samo? Some see it as fame, money. But really it should never be on how others perceive you. That's superficial. But easier said that done, right? ;)  Social gerontology is a wonderful thing. Old people are cool. If you count someone over 70 as old, we got some rockers and they have a story to tell.

Don't sell youself short on your lyric abilities. I haven't heard you say anything about that. You express yourself well through your lyrics. I've translated some of them. I think they're Bluesy as Hell. Rock On, Man!

Best to you and Rick.

Oh thanks for all the support! I hope I get the right diagnosis, so they can help me as much as possible, although things have improved with years and especially since I know this diagnosis!

But yeah, what matters is life is getting better and having people who care, studying and a few pople like you, who talk nice with me and care,

I wish you all best and thank you, it touches me deeply, that you care about my music and it gives you something! Thanks again and wish you all best!

Well yeah, it's like, it can look, you demand too much, you have to respect the doctors, but its' not like I want a musical career

just the obviously right diagnosis, as I also watched some videos about it and it's very, very obvious to me. It also involves a bit

of hypohondriasis, so what you read might stick to you a little bit, but I had problems with hypohondriasis in my childhood

and everybody knows how I was in my childhood, so I'm honest, but this diagnosis didn't exist back then, so if you talked a lot

and were intelligent, you couldn't get the other one, namely autism. I checked on one forum, what problems and diagnoses many had,

before this diagnosis existed.I don't know about the second evaluation, for now I still couldn't find anyone, probably won't, but people can see for themselves, so life goes on.
