Strider Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 A Day of Infamy. Sadly, because of coronavirus restrictions, no survivors were able to attend this year's memorial ceremony. https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/07/us/pearl-harbor-day-ceremony-2020-trnd/index.html Quote

Strider Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 Too bad the 80th anniversary happened in the middle of Hawaii's historic winter storm and flooding. Probably made it difficult for some to attend. https://news.usni.org/2021/12/07/pearl-harbor-attacks-veterans-remembered-in-80th-anniversary-ceremony Quote

redrum Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 The Battleship Arizona was fueled to its maximum level on December 6, 1941, with 1.5 million gallons of oil. Even though the ship was broken in two by the explosion, many of its fuel tanks survived the Dec 7th attack, estimated to be around 500,000 gallons. Over the past eighty years, approximately 50,000 to 65,000 gallons of oil have leaked into Pearl Harbor Bay. Thus, the oil leak at the USS Arizona Memorial can potentially continue for centuries to come. Quote
