Otto Masson
I posted this on the old board a while ago - so those of you who have already seen it, just ignore it.... As many of you know, Gerry McAvoy was the late Rory Gallagher's bass player for a long, long time. He joined Rory's band after The Taste disbanded. His memoirs, written in collaboration with Pete Crisp, are worth reading for many reasons - mainly because of the insight offered into Rory's career, of course, but there's a lot more. Here's a passage about Peter Grant and Richard Cole that I thought people here would find interesting. McAvoy seems quite sympathetic, and not particularly prone to exaggeration, and I find the picture he draws of LZ's management worthy of consideration. snapper
Thanks, man. I love reading about Grant & Cole. They were so much a part of what Zeppelin was. Zeppelin was beautiful, but they had a dark and ugly side too. They had it all....Wow!
ro_a
Thanks, that was a fun read. If you are the alpha male of your pride you use your power without remorse. LZ & management co were the alpha males of 70's rock. For better of for worse.
