  1. This process of dismantling and reassembling of Zeppelin's stage rig did happen during the Chicago shows on the 1977 tour. The Black Hawks were in the playoffs which led to a shorter and tighter Thursday April 7th performance. They had to be offstage by 11:00 p.m. to accomodate this breakdown of equipment for a hockey game on Friday April 8th. The stage and p.a. were reconfigured for the following night's performance Saturday April 9th. Page apparently had over-enjoyed his day off and physically crumbled onstage that night, ending that evening's show.
  2. Here's a few photos I took of Carlos performing at the Uptown Theater on Thanksgiving night 1979.
  3. Does anyone know the story behind that temporary insanity choice of cover song?
  4. People Got To Be Free - The Grass Roots
  5. Everyday With You Girl - Classics 4
  6. Meet Me In The Morning - Freddie King
  7. Good Morning Little School Girl - Ten Years After
  8. Hi Middlezep! Good comments which I agree with. Mean Business still is a good listen. Jimmy should remix it and bring his guitar up in the mix. The Firm's Dec. 9th Hammersmith Show was played loudly just yesterday. Thanks MZ!
  9. The Abraxas Pool is very representative of the original Santana sound...minus Carlos. My favorite song on there is Gabor. The title is dedicated to Gabor Szabo, a Hungarian Gypsy guitarist who wrote Gypsy Queen ( the 2nd half of Black Magic Woman ).
  10. Catch Me If You Can - Eric Clapton
  11. Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying - Jose Feliciano
  12. Yeah Jahfin, the double bill of Santana and Dylan went over really well. I believe it was the summer of 1993 at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park. I was surprised at how rocking Dylan was. Masters of War being a highlight.
  13. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v676/kit...t2/38154_lg.jpg I had 2nd row-dead center seats for this show. It was June 15th, 1998. Just after the Bulls won their 6th NBA championship. I remember Rodman strolling out onstage before the encore and Page looking like 'Who the hell is this guy?"
  14. Jimmy Page loves Carlos's playing. So do Clapton, Prince, and Jeff Beck . Hendrix and Miles Davis really dug Santana's soulful approach. The longevity of his career speaks for itself.
  15. A House Is Not A Home - Luther Vandross
  16. When The World Is Running Down - The Police
  17. Chepito is not shy around the ladies! Hide your wives and girlfriends. I met Michael Shrieve in an elevator at the O'Hare Hilton. It was on the 1988 Santana reunion tour and he told me he was recording an album with Andy Summers. He seemed pretty down to earth and was cordial.
  18. One Of These Days Boy - Ten Years After
  19. Starting in the late 1970's Santana's choice of material became more hit and miss. He subjected himself to more commercial material and especially on record he misfired. Live Carlos is where he really gets off. The Lotus and Moonflower albums are the epitome of that.
  20. Xmas, it was great to play with Chepito. He was in town for the Latin Music festival and played with us for our entire 2nd set. We played Samba Pa Ti, Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va and several originals. Playing with percussion is liking surfing a massive wave. You better play your ass off or you'll get crushed!
  21. Everybody Is A Star - Sly and the Family Stone
  22. We Work The Black Seam - Sting
