Box Sets

JethroTull

Recommended Posts

Jethro Tull - 20 year anniv, an unbelievable collection of unreleased stuff. Good luck finding a copy.

Jethro Tull - 25 year anniv. Not as good as the 20 year, but it contains most of the infamous November(or was it December) 1970 Carnegie Hall show. Great booklet.

Jethro Tull - Nightcap, not officially a box but it contains the aborted A Passion Play sessions, plus what remained of the unreleased Tull.

Elvis Costello - his first 3 lps with bonus tracks, plus live CD.

Nick Lowe - The Doings, a 4 CD retrospective. Great booklet.

Leon Russell - although not officially a box, it's a great 2 CD retrospective. Great booklet.

Bruce Springsteen - Tracks, 4 CDs of unreleased treasures. The booklet is weak as are most of the Springsteen tour books I've bought.

Deep Purplel - Machine Head, not officially a box. 2 CD's. One all songs remastered with bonus track(s) and two all songs remixed with alternate guitar solo's.. Nice little booklet too.

George Harrison - this was expensive, about $120.00. All of his Dark Horse releases, plus a DVD of videos. This one is due a listen.

A complete tracklist of those JT sets would look good here don't ya think JT??! :) :) :) :)

Rob

I'll see what I can do. Without sounding too arrongant, the 20 year box (released in 1988) set a standard of sorts for digging up unreleased studio and live radio tracks.

If something is two discs I don't consider it a "box set" with the exception of the second Led Zeppelin collection. Then again, I'm not sure how box sets are technically defined. For instance I have all of the Dylan albums from his Bootleg series but only one of those is three discs. For the interest of space most of these are 3 discs or more.

This is the only one I own so far. I think Box Sets are a waste of money when they're made up of songs already available on all the officially released albums(unless I don't actually own the albums and don't plan on getting them).
