I forget what I preordered the book for as I did it several months ago, when available on Amazon, but seems reasonable considering a hardcover and page length.  I'm not looking for a discount as not overpriced.  I have my order confirmation and will look and edit to this.

I paid $ 73.39 for the book and hope it's worth it.  I had some discounts with Prime and other things and not complaining.

Just notice that price has dropped about $4 and with pre-order I should get lowest price but will notify Amazon about this to make sure I get this.

The US Amazon marketplace is being taken down due to GST law changes in Aus, I didn't check the new Aus Amazon page, I just ordered direct from SuperSam's link. With currency conversion it was a pretty hefty total, but meh..... Its an official Zep book. GOT to get it!

  2. Working from home day. Tried a early and late one.

'69: Texas pop festival (Don't Mess with Texas) - japrainbow

    '77: Led Zeppelin-Listen to This Eddie-Collectors Edition-audio only. - Genuine Masters

Was great. Only up to Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, trying to get to Kashmir tonight. The rest will need to wait, trying to get to Kashmir....

    A great contrast.

  3. I just had another listen. Maaaaaaaaaaan, that is as good as anything live I think. The guitar and those keys in the middle, and most of the outro. And Bonzo and Percy. The swing and groove... Everyone going along. Improv's from everywhere but tight as fuck.

Just ridiculous. They must have been thinking how good it all still was after deliveries like that.

This and TU from the next night, are my go to's for a bit of late Led Zeppelin magic. It is incredible just how explosive and brilliant this rendition is. Absolute perfection from all 4. Completely in sync and complementing each other. It's like they are in their prime. It must have melted many a face in the first few rows. If your ears are not ringing after listening to this, or if you don't start involuntarily stomping, swaying, air drumming and generally "head banging" through this, you're doing it wrong!

  5. SWEET MOTHER OF GOD IT'S COLD!!!!!! Winter is tomorrow, but this mornings ride to work, my fingers were so cold they were burning.

Apart from flannelette sheets, warm cuddles with the missus, and backyard fires, winter can take a long walk off a short pier.

Without Bonham & Jonesy laying down the bottom, then, it's not "Led Zeppelin."

Too right. Bonzo inspired Jimmy more than people realise and Jonesy created more riffs than he is credited for. And all those journeys that Page takes us on when he breaks out with his solo's, you listen to Jones and Bonham underneath and it's just as glorious. Every time.

While I do agree that Robert was at his best as recorded in '72, as dizzying and great as Jimmy's performances were, I think that Jimmy's "best" is found post 1972. I know it's a matter of personal taste, and I guess I do prefer the '73 and '75 "Jimmy" over the '72n in style and substance. But that's not a detraction... I just like the '73 and '75 Jimmy better. And with that, I don't really mind that I'm not getting the "best" Robert in '73 and '75, as I'm primarily a Jimmy fan over a Robert fan... so when I feel like I'm getting Jimmy's "best", then I can make all kinds of exceptions for Robert not being his "best."

I can take Jimmy from Led Zeppelin beginning to end. For me personally, the difference is, as time marched on, Jimmy was less consistent. But even in 1980, there are gems where he still delivered supreme. They are not exactly "rare" gems - but it was a declining arc.

And I totally get the Jimmy fan angle. I'm the same. I love Zep. Love all of them. But Jimmy is the man! Greatest EVER.

*ALL members made the magic 5th element. No disrespect to JPJ, Bonham and Plant. They are equals in what Zep produced.

    Wax Audio's "Whole Lotta Sabbath".

That's really cool. What a polished, pro effort. It would be great if this could actually be official - if everyone kinda dug it and agreed to it - and just worked out royalties etc. Never going to happen, but would be so good...

Yeah, I'll be at the Brisvegas show on Monday night as well. Good venue too.

I'll be the one with Page/Plant long sleeve collared shirt on with missus sporting a 1977 USA tour t-shirt. Getting there early to get stage position.

  10. 4 day weekend has just begun. In front of fire as I type. Weeknights with Alice playing, and its another good playlist. Missus preparing a late dinner, vape on the charge, going to see JBLZE on Monday night.

    Life is GOOD.
